With a heart of gold. Maybe.
So the event's pretty much done. I came up with a theory on how it would end and that did not happen at all. [emoji] But I can't say I'm too disappointed because the story we got is plenty good too.
And it's got my theorycrafting gears running!
But first: Childe. MiHoYo decided to go a different direction with him than I thought and I am pleasantly surprised.
Based on his depiction in Liyue I thought they would have him gain our trust before revealing his true motives towards the end and we'd have to foil his plot. This was how the first 2 parts felt where at first we didn't trust him just because of who he is. Then as the event continued he felt different and we also needed his power to help us continue. So if things went like Liyue his true mission would reveal itself in part 3, he'd be vicious to complete his assignment and we'd have to wipe the floor with him again. It would have been an epic conclusion to the event's story.
Instead it looks like they went with his Character Quest depiction. While he is still up to no good as a Fatui Harbinger there's more to him which we saw from Teucer. The event developed this part of his story. We saw how dedicated he is to fighting and getting stronger but instead of some evil intentions behind it we can see the guy's just really really into fighting. Like forget about how he's still on a mission levels of into fighting. It might even turn out to be that he honestly joined the Fatui just because he thought it would give him more opportunities to fight. On the flip side he thought Shiki Taishou was cute and wanted to get one for Teucer. (I hope he got his own Shiki Koshou now that I think about it.) He considered Xinyan to be like his sister. And he respects the Taishou's role even if the rest of the gang including Taishou himself had reservations about being a "weapon."
Side note: I remember when this event was announced and they were like "Shiki Taishou will only be available during the event" and people got mad thinking they couldn't keep him as a pet. It's good to know MiHoYo doesn't flub the in-game stuff and proves players wrong on these things at least.
Of course while I was wrong about the event this version of Childe plays wonderfully into my theory about his role in Snezhnaya. (Did I ever get that theory out? I think I might have just mentioned it in passing a bunch of times. I really need to get that theory video out lol)
Now on a nitpick side I still can't get over how there is no way Ei or Sara would allow Childe to set foot anywhere near Inazuma and especially if his mission involved the Gnosis. So I'm feeling even more confident in my Yae theory now. (plus with my other recent theory out)
On another note this story wrapped up without any reason why the Domain would ever go away after the event ends. The whole point is that it needs to stay to train future generations. In other words MAKE IT PERMANENT MiHoYo! [emoji] I want to see all kinds of layouts for this without the treasure hunting part. This event is how I fought my first Cryo Hypostasis and the wolves. It is easy access to some really fun challenges. And if they made new layouts it'll be like having a standardized custom story Domain on demand! Like what if they did an adepti space version that looks like Xiao's Domain? Or one that looks like Madame Ping's teapot Domain. Or one that looks like Misty Dungeon. Or one that looks like the creepy purple poison Domain from We Will Be Reunited. I need to make another topic! lol
