A Post-Honkai Odyssey Introductory Guide by Reinbex

Hey, Captains! This is an Introductory guide for A Post-Honkai Odyssey (APHO). This guide serves to help players ease into this Overworld easier!

8 years after Honkai has disappeared from Earth, you play as a member of Schicksal’s investigation team as you explore and investigate the city of St. Fountain.

APHO is a new open world that becomes available after completing the first cycle of Sakura Samsara.

✦ MATERIALS ✦

Materials, used for strengthening your characters, can be obtained mostly from killing enemies, adventure tasks, and Ruins Mode.

Krystallums are the universal upgrade materials for leveling up basic Character talents or rerolling Resonances.

The rarer Krystalloids are needed for leveling up higher tier Character talents. These items are mostly obtained through the Ruins Mode.

Regulators are character-specific skills materials, with Red for the MC, Blue for Mei, and Yellow for Carole.

Lastly, Suscitarin revives your characters. They’re usable in all modes of APHO.

✦ INTEL LEVEL ✦

Complete Missions and Adventure Tasks to obtain EXP and raise your Intel Level (Max 30)! Raising your Intel Level rewards you with various items, including Relic Keys, Crystals, and a new Emblem!
Note that the Story, Skills, the map, and locked chests are gated by your Intel Level.

✦ STORY AND EXPLORE MODES ✦

Select between Story Mode to investigate the city or Explore Mode to complete Tasks, farm materials, and/or unlock the map/chests in St. Fountain!
Tasks

Select up to 5 Tasks per Cycle, costing you stamina but rewarding you various items, including EXP for Intel and materials.

Each Cycle provides 15 Free Task refreshes. Tap Refresh to get a new batch of tasks to select from.

And every day, you get a free Task refund (only for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th tasks). You can “pseudo-refresh” with these refunds by selecting a task and refunding it, thus refreshing once.

Cycles

There are 3 Cycles per week: (Listed below are Server times)
- Monday 4:00 AM - Thurs 3:59 AM (Mon-Wed)
- Thursday 4:00 AM - Saturday 3:59 AM (Thurs-Fri)
- Saturday 4:00 AM - Monday 3:59 AM (Sat-Sun)
The map is locked and unenterable during each Cycle’s final hour from 3AM-4AM.

✦ SKILLS GENERAL INFORMATION ✦

Each character comes with their own skills that can be unlocked and leveled up. Leveling up or unlocking skills can provide stat bonuses! In APHO, you won’t need to worry about weapons/stigmatas, skills and resonances are the only upgrades you can customize!

General Skills Information

Navigate to each character’s skills by selecting a character and tapping on the “Skills” button on the bottom left.

Each skill costs Krystallum, Krystalloid and/or Regulators to upgrade/unlock.
Skills can be gated by:
- Requiring certain other skills being unlocked
- Intel Level
- Valkyrie Ranks

At Intel Level 30, you can unlock up to 4 Resonances per character. Resonances are similar to affixes but can be grouped with others of the same set for additional set effects (2pc/4pc) as well.

Modules

After unlocking enough of certain skills (Ult/Passive/Permanent), you unlock the Modules tab.
Here, you can select which skills to equip over the other, thus customizing your gameplay further! Only skills with “(Activation Required)” are eligible!

✦ CHARACTERS ✦

As of currently in APHO, you are able to unlock and select up to 3 characters to play with.

Main Character (Adam)

The MC, whom you can name yourself, is your initial starting character. He’s a balanced character who can Ignite, knock enemies into the ground, even provide team support.

You can hold down the [ATK] button while midair to potentially knock down an enemy!

If you’ve purchased and equipped the Revelation Emblem, MC’s Heroic Hack Ultimate skill will display a different visual effect.

Raiden Mei

Raiden Mei will be your 2nd playable character in APHO. She excels in aerial combat and is adept in shredding through multi-hit Force Fields with her fast Lightning and Paralysis-inducing attacks.

Force Fields are usually a bubble around enemies and are depicted with multiple short bars.

Shuffle between quick-tapping the [ATK] Button and holding down the [ATK] Button to consume a bar to maintain aerial superiority!

Carole Pepper

Carole Pepper is the third playable character you can unlock. Despite having a slow attack rate, her hard-hitting charged ATKs decimates enemies' Heavy Shields!

Heavy Shields are depicted as the yellow bar in the picture above. After losing their Heavy shield, the enemy is more susceptible to DMG and interruptions!

While on either ground or midair, hold down the [ATK] button to charge your ATK (the longer the stronger your attack)! Release the [ATK] button to unleash a powerful punch!

Carole is a great solution to enemies who block your attacks.

Enemies won’t be able to block her Charged ATK even if they react fast enough!

✦ RUINS MODE AND SUPPLY ✦
Ruins

After progressing enough through the story, you will unlock Ruins Mode, where every week, you can play and progress through floors of enemies to earn rewards, including Relic Keys and Krystalloids.

Each week, you receive rewards based on how many floors you’ve cleared and your ranking placement (your total score).

Supply

Relic Keys can only be used for the APHO Supply. It’s a non-expiring supply with a set amount of drops distributed in 4 phases. You can pull for various rewards, including Focus Cards and the greatsword Trial Ignus!

Obtaining this greatsword means you can use it outside of APHO, however I personally deem the greatsword itself to be rather lackluster

✦ TUTORIAL STAGES ✦

Complete the optional Tutorial stages for extra Gold and Suscitarins! After unlocking Ruins mode, the tutorial button will relocate to the left.

✦ BASE ✦

And finally, the Base section allows you to talk to various characters, be it for important Story progression or for extra content.

Here, you can view your accumulated playthrough progression in the Album and Collection tabs.
That concludes the end of this guide! APHO Part2 is slated to release in early 2022, so do enjoy yourself and look forward to what APHO has to offer! Thanks for reading!
