I mean am I crazy or do these two things look a little different? Because Hoyolab and Genshin CS seem to think these are exactly the same thing. Remember how I've been talking about the Hot Topics contest and how Hoyolab didn't send out the prizes to us contest winners?
After months of going through Genshin CS and hoyolab@hoyoverse.com they finally sent this thing to me. But you know I can't put my finger on it. I just feel like
something's off you know
like something
just doesn't feel right you know?
It's like if you went to a car dealership and wanted a Lexus
but they gave you a Toyota.
Sure it's the same manufacturer. The cars even look pretty much the same. But there's just something not quite right you know?
Ok I know what some of you guys might be thinking. "You won it for free. What more do you want? Some people probably still didn't get anything yet." Well I might have agreed with that if not for the fact that this contest took place back in April and winners were announced in May. So if Hoyolab had sent this thing in June then that would have been a different story. Sure I'd still be disappointed in the downgrade of prize but I still would have gotten a prize and I would have probably come on here to thank MiHoYo for it.
But it's been 6 long months of asking about it with no real response out of these people. They also permamuted me in the middle of all this also with zero reason given which turned out to be because there was no reason and the mute was overturned. (privately) So you can imagine my state of mind at this point when I finally see a box stuffed into my mailbox and this is what I find in it. Also no explanation given. Not even so much as an apology for taking 6 months and forcing me to contact them over and over again just to get it. It's like I was begging for s****s out of them when it was a prize they selected me to win.
Now I can't speak for any of the other winners or any current contest winners that haven't gotten their prizes. Chances are most sane people would have just quit the game after an experience like that. This would explain the massive exodus Genshin experienced when Sumeru launched or why they only earned half as much as they did in Year 2 as they did in Year 1. But if any of you fellow winners are still around or if players who have taken interest in Hoyolab's contests are reading this then I want to recommend that nobody participate in these contests anymore. If we want Hoyolab to fix their major issues we need to band together and make a statement. If their contests draw zero attention, if their promotions don't net them any publicity, praise or profit they might finally attract the attention of the higher ups at MiHoYo to really review their performance. Then one day we might have a decent Hoyolab staff working for this amazing game.
And as for me I think I'm done with this. I'd already left Hoyolab after the fall out of their muting me and as toxic as the Reddit community can be I'm actually making waves over there and even getting into some interesting conversations with a few people. It's a little upsetting that MiHoYo's own community site is being outdone by Reddit but that's what happens when you don't manage it properly. This place was supposed to be a haven for Hoyoverse players to talk positively about the games but it isn't.
PS: O but just in case you guys were still following along with my theories I just want you guys to know I do still pop in to update that collection topic so don't worry. You can still keep up to date with that stuff.
