In Honkai Star Rail, we don't have an elemental reaction or superior elements countering inferior elements.
Instead, the elements will reduce opponent's weakness bar instead.
Since each character has their own dedicated element,
The character that trigger the weakness break will trigger the effect based on their element.
For example here, since Dan Heng is a wind character,
When he trigger the weakness break here, it will apply "Wind Shear"
Here are the simplified explanation of every elements weakness break
Physical
Additional physical damage + physical DoT
Ice
No additional ice damage, but freeze the enemy instead + ice DoT
Fire
Additional fire damage + fire DoT
Wind
Additional wind damage + wind DoT
Lightning
Additional lightning damage + lightning DoT
Quantum
No additional quantum damage, but delaying the opponent's turn instead + quantum DoT
Imaginary
No additional imaginary damage, but delaying the opponent's turn instead + slowing them
So, whether you want to freeze the enemy but no weakness break damage, or you want to go unga bunga and deliver a lot of weakness break damage, it all relies on your strategy to beat the enemy.
