I am back with a build guide and this time instead of a Honkai Star Rail guide we are looking at Genshin Impact! Welcome in our grouchy cat, Wanderer! ![]()
We have met him plenty of times, hated him, loved him, he is a key part of Teyvat's storyline! Now in the second phase of 3.8 one could wish for him! So here is everything you need to know about this puppet!

Wanderer Build Guide
Wanderer has the special ability of flight and is a catalyst user. Truly taking advantage of "can't get hurt if they can't reach me!" and this is something that as the player should be taken advantage of.
Team Set Up
Since he is a catalyst user, having a shielding and healing character on the team is essential. Catalyst characters have the lowest health after archers, and his almost zero stagger resistance when in flight makes it especially important to have a shield! If you wish to test the limits and have no shielder then having a healer will be necessary.
In the image above I have placed an array of characters that would work well with him. Alternates to some of the characters shown are Yunjin, Kuki, Diona, Rosaria, and so on... As long as you have a bunch of reactions happening and that Wanderer can swirl them, then the team will work! Keep in mind though, he prefers to be on the field, so having characters who support off-field would be better.
Normal Attack

Normal Attack Skill activated

Regular Normal Attack
Now before anyone gets confused, Wanderer's skill is what allows him to take flight for a certain period of time. In this duration, all of his attacks including his ultimate will be done in his flight form. Now if you press the skill key while he is airborne you will be canceling the skill, not renewing it!
Skill

Wanderer's skill
When activating his skill, wanderer will take flight. BUT one thing to note is that if there's a swirlable element surrounding him, he will swirl that element onto himself. What does that mean? A color will appear on the ring behind him (refer to splash art of the cover) and depending on which element you swirl he gains a certain buff.
Elemental Buffs

Swirling of elements with skill
Cryo - increases his crit rate by 20%
Hydro - increases the duration of his skill by 20 points
Electro - increases his energy recharge by 0.8 points for every 0.2 seconds on normal and charged attacks
Pyro - increases his atk by 30%
Ultimate

Wanderer's Ultimate
Doing his ultimate at the very end of his skill will allow Wanderer to do multiple instances of anemo dmg. If he is still in flight mode while doing the ultimate, the skill will be automatically canceled.
Gameplay Tips
Now Wanderer may appear to be a tricky character to play optimized, much like Childe, but once one gets the hang of his kit it becomes like second nature. Here are a couple of tips when it comes to using him on the battlefield!
Note: The team used is Xingqui, Xiangling, Kuki/Fischl
- If all support character's bursts are up then activate the supporting characters' bursts
- Use the support characters' skills after the burst to regain some energy
- Switch over to wanderer, activate his skill, and attack the enemies
- Should the supporting characters burst attack with the on-field character, like Xingquie, he will be doing swirl damage and reactions
- Burst if available and repeat the cycle!
I hope that this guide was of use to those who want to grab our Wandering Traveler! If any questions or clarifications are required, feel free to put them in the comments! If I have made any errors, feel free to inform me and I will adjust the guide properly! ![]()
