Alhaitham
The Former Acting Grand Sage marks his second rerun on Version 4.7! Alhaitham is a member of Haravatat and is currently responsible for transcribing the results of their experiments and drafting ordinances for the city of Sumeru. Even though he is very ego-centric, he is reluctant to hold higher positions in the government despite his views of rationality and truth. He became playable last January 18, 2023.

Popsicle's Short Review

▲PROS: The introduction of Alhaitham marks the start of the true Dendro DPS in the roster. As such, he is a powerful Dendro unit that can give you high damage potential when built properly. Compared with other DPS, he has flexible on-field time, which can cater to various team compositions that you might want to use on him. With various combos that you need to master, it is no surprise that he is an exceptional unit that every player can have.
▼CONS: For new players who don't usually rely on combos, Alhaitham is a complex unit to master, considering the amount of combos that you can use (and dependent on your team and energy needs). His Chisel-Light Mirrors are quite hard to maintain and require you to limit your rotational mistakes to avoid damage loss.

Combat Profile
✦ Normal Attack | Abductive Reasoning

➤ Alhaitham's Normal Attack can perform 5 rapid strikes that deal Physical DMG. It can be converted to Dendro DMG once he activates his Elemental Skill. Although his damage multipliers are quite decent, it is often recommended to level his Normal Attack up to Level 6 or 8 to boost his overall damage slightly.

✦ Elemental Skill | Universality: An Elaboration on Form
❝Here you are.❠

➤ Alhaitham's core kit can be found on his Elemental Skill. Your goal is to sustain the Chisel-Light MIrrors in order for Alhaitham to gain converted Dendro DMG attacks and unleash Projection Attacks, which help him deal with high damage values. Additionally, his Elemental Skill scales on Alhaitham's Elemental Mastery.
➤ You can generate Chisel-Light MIrrors using his Elemental Skill, A1 Passive (using his Charged or Plunging Attacks), and Elemental Burst. You can play with these three ways in order for Alhaitham to sustain the buff for the entirety of his on-field time.

✦ Elemental Burst | Particular Field: Fetters of Phenomena
❝A process of elimination.❠

➤ His Elemental Burst allows Alhaitham to consume his remaining Chisel-Light Mirrors and generates new ones depending on the number of mirrors being consumed. This can prolong the buff that he enjoyed pretty well. Usual combos start with using his Elemental Burst to have a prolonged appearance of his Chisel-Light Mirrors, but you can also start your rotation without using his Burst. Just remember that it heavily relies on your team.

Passive Ability
✦ Utility Passive | Law of Reductive Overdetermination
❝How long will this require, exactly?❠
◢ When Alhaitham crafts Weapon Ascension Materials, he has a 10% chance to receive double the product.
➤ Similar to Albedo, Ayaka, and Wriothesley's Passive, it does allow you to receive a higher chance of doubling the product you craft to ascend your weapons.

✦ 1st Ascension Passive | Four-Causal Correction
❝Thank you.❠
◢ When Alhaitham's Charged or Plunging Attacks hit opponents, they will generate 1 Chisel-Light Mirror. This effect can be triggered once every 12s.
➤ It gives you another way to generate Chisel-Light Mirror without depending on your Elemental Burst. It can also add to the complexity of his combos.

✦ 4th Ascension Passive | Mysteries Laid Bare
❝I think you're more excited than me about this progress.❠
◢ Each point of Alhaitham's Elemental Mastery will increase the DMG dealt by Projection Attacks and Particular Field: Fetters of Phenomena by 0.1%. The maximum DMG increase this way for both these abilities is 100%.
➤ It gives you many incentives when farming for Alhaitham's Elemental Mastery attribute through his artifact set. Remember that the maximum EM that you can farm for him is 300.

Constellations
✦ C1 - Intuition
➤ It gives a good quality of life upgrade to Alhaitham's Skill as its base cooldown is higher.
✦ C2 - Debate
➤ It increases Alhaitham's overall damage as it further increases his Elemental Mastery whenever he generates a Chisel-Light Mirror. It is considered to be his second-best constellation, and players usually stop at this point when he is paired with Nahida.
✦ C3 - Negation
➤ It further increases his Elemental Skill talent level.
✦ C4 - Elucidation
➤ A good constellation that allows Alhaitham to give EM buff to his team (when all Mirrors are consumed) and grants himself an additional Dendro DMG Bonus (when he generated Chisel-Light Mirrors). Take note that the buff is dependent on the number of Chisel-Light Mirrors that he generated and consumed. This makes his C4 a conditional buff to himself.
✦ C5 - Sagacity
➤ It further increases his Elemental Burst's talent level
✦ C6 - Structuration
➤ Alhaitham's best constellation as it generates 3 Mirrors regardless of the number of mirrors it consumed, allowing him more flexibility in combos and buffing his Crit Rate and Crit DMG substat. It does complement well on his C4, allowing him to take advantage of the buff it gives.

About Constellation
➤ Vultur Volans = Flying Vulture
➤ Alhaitham's constellation is derived from the ancient Roman name of the constellation Aquila, meaning "Eagle" in English. According to Greek Mythology, it is the eagle that carried Ganymede to the heavens to serve as a cupbearer to the gods. It can be attributed to how Alhaitham served as a scribe for the various heads of each Darshan in the Akademiya.

Build Notes
As mentioned already, Alhaitham is a good Dendro DPS, which allows him to deal with Dendro DMG and enable most Dendro-related damages to his advantage. Most of the time, players will still use Alhaitham in Spread team compositions, but you can also use him in other team compositions, such as Burgeon, Hyperbloom, and Aggravate. When checking the talent prioritization on this build, please refer to the Quick Glance section.
Dendro DPS Weapon Recommendation
- Light of Foliar Incision
- Alhaitham's recommended five-star weapon
- Tailored to be used for Alhaitham as it gives your big Crit DMG substat and Elemental Mastery buff. Take note that this weapon works well on single opponents, and it performs slightly worse when fighting against mobs. Regardless, it is still his best weapon.
- Primordial Jade Cutter
- Alhaitham's alternative five-star weapon
- It performs better against mobs but slightly worse on single-target opponents, which makes it the better alternative to his signature weapon. Just make sure to focus on building on his EM, as it gives an unconditional ATK bonus.
- Uraku Misugiri
- Alhaitham's alternative five-star weapon
- If Alhaitham is paired with either Zhongli, Albedo, or Geo MC, this weapon is a must-pick for Alhaitham. Data suggests that it performs slightly better against the two five-star weapons above as long you have a Geo unit in his team.
- Absolution
- Alhaitham's alternative five-star weapon
- It's a decent Crit DMG substat if you don't have another five-star weapon in your inventory.
- Wolf-Fang
- Alhaitham's recommended four-star weapon
- Performs similarly with other five-star weapons at R5 (Mistsplitter Reforged). It also buffs his Elemental Skill and Burst DMG, making it a good option for him.
- Iron Sting
- Alhaitham's alternative four-star weapon
- If you don't have any budget to buy his recommended four-star weapon, choosing R5 Iron Sting works well for him, especially on how flexible he can be since you can use this weapon in any combat scenario.
- Toukabou Shigure
- Alhaitham's alternative four-star weapon
- A limited four-star weapon that can be used for Alhaitham, especially when you prefer fighting a single target. It's EM substat and passive works best to increase Alhaitham's personal damage further.
- The Black Sword
- Alhaitham's alternative four-star weapon
- Managed to get this weapon before? You can also use this on Alhaitham because of its Crit Rate substat and Normal and Charged Attack DMG buff. However, if you don't have any weapons from the Battle Pass, get Wolf-Fang.
- Xiphos' Moonlight
- Alhaitham's alternative four-star weapon
- It is another decent four-star weapon for Alhaitham as it provides him with an Elemental Mastery substat and assists with his personal Energy Recharge requirements. Works best when placed in Nilou-centered Bloom teams
- Fleuve Cendre Ferryman
- Alhaitham's alternative four-star weapon
- A good weapon for Alhaitham, especially when he needs a high Energy Recharge attribute (and when he is the solo Dendro in his team composition)
- Festering Desire
- Alhaitham's alternative four-star weapon
- A limited weapon that performs similarly to Fleuve Cendre Ferryman.
- Harbinger of Dawn
- Alhaitham's recommended three-star weapon
- It's a decent beginner weapon that can rival other weapons on this roster if you can manage to keep his HP above 90%.
Dendro DPS Artifact Recommendation
- Gilded Dreams
- Alhaitham's default artifact set
- Since Alhaitham is paired with another Dendro unit, this becomes his default set. It can maintain the perk coming from its four-piece bonus and allows him to be flexible in all team composition.
- Deepwood Memories
- Alhaitham's alternative artifact set
- If he is the only Dendro unit in his team, it becomes his default set.
- Golden Troupe
- Alhaitham's alternative artifact set
- A decent alternative to the first two artifact options. It is also a competitive option for him compared to his 2-pc set combinations that you can put to him. When using this set, it is better to split Alhaitham's field time to take advantage the 4-piece set bonus.
- Marechaussee Hunter
- Alhaitham's alternative artifact set
- When paired with Furina, this becomes his default option for Alhaitham. Just be mindful not to overcap its Crit Rate.
- Unfinished Reverie
- Alhaitham's alternative artifact set
- A niche set that you can use when you pair Alhaitham in the Burgeon team composition. Make sure that you have one Hydro unit on his team.
- +80 Elemental Mastery set / +18% ATK set
- Alhaitham's alternative artifact set
- Another option for Alhaitham if you want to balance out his Elemental Mastery and ATK attributes.

Conclusion

Alhaitham is an exceptional Dendro DPS that every player must try. His unique abilities and complexity add up to the value of getting him. With the high damage values that you can get from him, players need to understand his kit and master it in order to utilize his abilities to the fullest. If you are willing to learn his attack combinations and invest in his support, you can definitely enjoy using him.
So far, he is the only dedicated Dendro DPS that you can use with high on-field time. If you want to venture out of your comfort zone and try a new DPS, veteran players will appreciate using Alhaitham in their account. New players need to take their time to think about whether their playstyle matches Alhaitham's needs.
