Overview
The Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King is a Normal Boss that was added in Genshin Impact Version 5.0 - Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn. He is accessible as soon as you enter the brand new region, Natlan. This super-sized Saurian is pretty basic in terms of difficulty, having a single resistance that should be pretty obvious and a mechanic that allows you to deal a burst of DMG and nullify an attack if you have the right element on your team. He serves as a Normal Boss variant of the Yumkasaurus and the Yumkasaur Whelp, a brand new subspecies of Vishap in the Mystical Beasts category of the Archive. Like the Oceanid before him, his actual name is Kongamato, but the Archive displays his species as the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King. For brevity, he will be referred to by Kongamato for the rest of the guide.
The Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King can be found in a cavern in Tequemecan Valley, directly north-east of the Statue of the Seven, which in itself is north of the Scions of the Canopy and east of the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. The underground Waypoint is the entrance to his cave.

Archive Bio
A powerful Yumkasaur that has survived both the ravages of time and countless battles, surviving until the present day.
This "Mountain King", who once joined forces with the great heroes against the Black Tide, holds a special place in the hearts of the Scions of the Canopy. Some tribe members believe that it has its current body shape because it has a unique physique, like the Qucusaurus "Tyrant"... Though in fact, this is simply because it's lived for so long, and eaten way, WAY too much.

Battle Notes
Throughout the fight Kongamato will summon either one or three Flamegranates in front of it, waiting for a moment before trying to eat them. Should it eat them, it will spit them out to deal Pyro DMG and burn the ground on impact, which will DMG the player if stepped on. This can be prevented, however, if the player uses a Pyro Character to Ignite the Flamegranates, upon which they will explode after Kongamato eats them and DMG the boss itself. Kongamato has an extra 60% Dendro resistance on top of the flat 10% resistance Normal Bosses get to all elements.
When it comes to F2P Characters, there isn't much to say thanks to Kongamato's relative lack of mechanics, making this a pure test of power and skill at the game. I would avoid using Collei or Traveler (Dendro) as Kongamato resists their Dendro DMG. On the other hand, I would highly recommend bringing Amber or Xiangling to use their Pyro attacks to Ignite Kongamato's Flamegranates and blow him up for that extra bit of DMG and an Achievement, which can be seen further on in the guide. As for the rest of the characters, Barbara and Noelle are always good supports due to their healing and shield respecitvely (although Barbara's healing will inflict Bloom on you if Kongamato hits you and Noelle can't Crystallize any of Kongamato's attacks). Aside from these notable exceptions, there's no right or wrong answer of who to choose, meaning you can use any DPS unit you like. This also gives you an excellent opportunity to play with Kachina, the new F2P Character added in 5.0.
Otherwise, if possible, try to bring a Pyro Character that either specialises in AoE DMG or uses a Catalyst to fight, although really any Pyro Character should get the job done. Klee and Yanfei are excellent choices due to their basic attacks inflicting Pyro, while Bennet and Xinyan can Infuse their attacks with Pyro to deal Pyro DMG. Characters such as Thoma or Gaming are also useful as their AoE attacks can ignite all three Flamegranates at once, saving time that can be used to smack Kongamato around a bit more. Different healers and shield users are also a welcome addition to any team so there's no harm in swapping out Noelle and Barbara for, say, Zhongli and Furina for characters that better specialize in those fields. Avoid using any Dendro Character other than for application, and even then I'd only use quick applicators such as Nahida. Overall, my personal recommended teams (there's no need to follow these at all) are as follows:
- Melee DPS / Amber, Xiangling, Noelle, Barbara (F2P)
- Melee DPS, Pyro Application, Shield, Off-field Healer
Moveset
Spit - Kongamato will summon and spit a green Dendro projectile at the player, dealing 50% Dendro DMG if hit. You can easily dodge this attack by watching for a green aura around Kongamato's mouth and dashing away just as the projectile is about to hit you.
Stomp - Kongamato will raise one of its feet before stomping on the ground, dealing 50% Dendro DMG if hit. Again, just dashing away from Kongamato as he raises his foot will take you out of the stomp's range. Sometimes this attack will combo into a Tail Smash.
Tail Smash - Kongamato will move his tail in front of him before spinning horizontally and slamming his tail into the ground, dealing 65% Dendro DMG if hit. This attack, like many others, can be evaded by simply dashing away upon seeing Kongamato turn his tail towards the player.
Belly Spin - Kongamato will pat its belly twice before using it to spin towards the player, dealing rapid 35% Dendro DMG that decreases with each combo hit. This attack is Kongmato's most telegraphed, so you can dash away as soon as Kongamato pats his belly to get some distance before he chases you. Dashing away from this attack as you are chased should get you far enough away that you won't be hit at all.
Hanging Drop - Kongamato will extend his tongue to latch onto the ceiling just above the player, dangling above the Character for a second before dropping down with a ground pound that deals 80% Dendro DMG. There is plenty of time to dash away from Kongamato as he dangles above you for a second, completely dodging the attack.
Swinging Slam - Kongamato will use its tongue to swing towards the player, creating two subsequent, growing shockwaves that deal 80% Dendro DMG each if hit. Dashing away from Kongamato when he starts leaping towards you is sufficient to dodge, but you can also dash towards the first shockwave as it goes off to avoid the second, slightly wider shockwave if there is no space to dash backwards.
Single Flamegranate Spit - Kongamato will shake himself, revealing a Flamegranate that will fall on the ground in front of him. After a brief moment, Kongamato will use his tongue to swallow the Flamegranate before spitting it back at the player. Upon being hit, these Flamegranates not only deal 100% Pyro DMG but also leave a visible AoE on the ground that deals 6% Pyro DMG every half a second the player stands in it. This attack can be dodged my dashing away from the projectile or you can turn it against Kongamato by applying Pyro to the Flamegranates. Doing this will cause them to explode, dealing 5% HP Pyro DMG to Kongamato.
Triple Flamegranate Spit - Kongamato will shake himself, revealing three Flamegranates that will fall on the ground in front of him. After a brief moment, Kongamato will use his tongue to swallow the Flamegranates before spitting two of them back at the player. Upon being hit, these Flamegranates not only deal 100% Pyro DMG but also leave a visible AoE on the ground that deals 6% Pyro DMG every half a second the player stands in it. The third Flamegranate will be launched as a giant laser that deals 250% Pyro DMG if hit. This attack can be dodged by dashing away from each projectile or you can turn it against Kongamato by applying Pyro to the Flamegranates. Doing this will cause them to explode, dealing 5% HP Pyro DMG to Kongamato. Unlike the Single Flamegranate Spit, this explosion will deal 30% Pyro DMG to the player and stun Kongamato for a longer period than usual if all three Flamegranates explode, leaving him vulnerable.
