Hello, Travelers! This guide provides an introduction to Elemental Reactions in Genshin Impact, helping you understand their mechanics and enhance your gameplay experience.

What are Elemental Reactions?
Elemental Reactions are a core part of the combat system, involving seven elements: Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, Electro, Dendro, Anemo, and Geo. These elements interact to trigger Elemental Reactions when applied to targets.
When you deal elemental DMG to an enemy, it leaves that element attached to them. By applying a second element, you can trigger an Elemental Reaction to deal greater DMG.

Types of Elemental Reactions
Basic Reactions
These are straightforward and easy to perform, involving interactions between two attachable elements:
① Vaporize (Pyro + Hydro): Pyro DMG applied to a Hydro-afflicted enemy or Hydro DMG applied to a Pyro-afflicted enemy boosts DMG.
② Melt (Pyro + Cryo): Pyro DMG applied to a Cryo-afflicted enemy or Cryo DMG applied to a Pyro-afflicted enemy boosts DMG.
③ Overloaded (Pyro + Electro): Pyro and Electro interact to trigger an explosion dealing AoE Pyro DMG. It also interrupts
enemies and knocks them back.
④ Burning (Pyro + Dendro): Pyro and Dendro interact to deal sustained Pyro DMG. Proximity to burning targets can damage characters as well.
⑤ Electro-Charged (Electro + Hydro): Electro and Hydro interact to deal continuous Electro DMG and temporarily paralyzes smaller enemies, interrupting their actions.
⑥ Frozen (Cryo + Hydro): Cryo and Hydro interact to immobilizes enemies. Using Plunging Attacks, Claymore strikes, or Geo DMG can trigger Shatter, dealing Physical DMG.
Advanced Reactions
More challenging to execute but can yield higher DMG. New players can follow established team builds to enhance their strategy:
① Swirl (Anemo + Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo): Triggered when Anemo interacts with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo. Swirl spreads the attached element, extending its effect to nearby enemies and increasing DMG.
Note: Swirl can chain Elemental Reactions. For example, an enemy with Hydro and another with Cryo can be attacked with Anemo to spread both elements, freezing both enemies.
② Catalyze (Dendro + Electro): Dendro and Electro interact to apply a debuff to the target, increasing their Dendro and Electro DMG taken. Does not deal direct DMG.
③ Bloom (Hydro + Dendro): Hydro and Dendro interact to create Dendro Cores that explode after a set time, dealing AoE Dendro DMG. A maximum of five Dendro Cores can exist at once. Additional ones trigger immediate explosion of the first one.
● Burgeon (Pyro + Dendro Core): Triggers instant Dendro Core explosions with increased AoE Dendro DMG.
● Hyperbloom (Electro + Dendro Core): Produces homing Dendro Cores that explode upon reaching enemies, dealing high single-target Dendro DMG.

High-Level Reactions
These require specific builds and are suited for experienced players:
① Crystallize (Geo + Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo): Generates a shield upon collecting dropped crystals, reducing DMG taken.

② Superconduct (Cryo + Electro): Deals AoE Cryo DMG and lowers the target's Physical RES, ideal for teams with Physical DPS characters.
Note
Besides the Elemental Reactions against enemies above. Be mindful of the environment. For instance, fighting in rain or near water applies Hydro to your character, making them vulnerable to Frozen when hit by Cryo DMG. Grassland battles can trigger Burning reactions when using Pyro attacks, potentially harming your character.

Elemental Immunity & Counter
Elements in Genshin Impact not only trigger reactions but also counter or immunize each other.
Elemental creatures are immune to their corresponding elemental DMG. For example, Pyro Slimes are immune to Pyro DMG, Hydro Slimes are immune to Hydro DMG, and so on. Bosses like the Electro Hypostasis are also elemental creatures and immune to Electro DMG, so avoid using Electro characters to attack them.

Elemental creatures usually come with Elemental Application. You can directly use counter elements to trigger reactions and deal greater DMG. Here's a list of counter elements to use strategically in battle:
● Pyro: Hydro
● Electro/Cryo/Dendro: Pyro
● Electro: Dendro
● Dendro: Electro
● Hydro/Electro: Cryo

Elemental Shields
In addition to elemental immunity, some shielding enemies can reduce or even nullify DMG while the shield is active. Use counter elements to deplete the shield bar. Once the shield breaks, you can deal DMG effectively.

However, Geo shields are unique. You need to use Geo attacks or Claymores to break them quickly.

Elemental Resistance
Beyond immunity and shields, some enemies have elemental resistance (RES).
Elemental RES functions as a defense against specific elemental DMG. The higher the RES, the less DMG that element deals. In combat, avoid attacking with elements the enemy resists and instead use counter elements to maximize efficiency.
For example, Pyro Whopperflower has high Pyro RES. Avoid using Pyro characters. Cryo Whopperflower has high Cryo RES. Avoid using Cryo characters.
