This post will address several bugs that can cause some players to have a higher count in their battle chronicle than normal. The majority of players are probably not affected by these bugs, but if you happen to be one of those players, then this post is for you. Luxurious Chests
1. Bennett Hangout Luxurious Chest (Fixed)
This is probably the most common bug for people with more luxurious chests. From March 17, 2021 through March 25, 2021, there was a bug where the Luxurious chest at the end of the domain counted towards the Battle Chronicle. In fact, each time the chest was opened, it would be recounted in the Battle Chronicle, so in theory, you could have an infinite amount of Luxurious Chests.
2. Hidden Teardrop in the Heart of the Jungle (Bug still exists)
This is a weird one that I found while browsing through the Chinese forums. The original person who discovered this is bglvly as mentioned in the post here.
I know for certain that you can obtain this chest twice. After opening the luxurious chest, immediately click the leave domain button in the top left corner and you will fail the domain.
When you return to this domain, you will see Diluc and Jean next to the luxurious chest and you can open it again.

I did not try failing this domain again to see if the chest could be opened more than twice, but it may be possible.
Precious Chest
1. Jade Parcels Precious Chest (Fixed)
Originally, there was a precious chest in liyue harbor that contained the Jade Parcels Recipe. However, once Genshin was released internationally on September 28, 2020, the chest was removed and Jade Parcels became obtainable through Archon Quest Chapter I instead. Because of this, only the earliest PC players on the CN server could have obtained this chest (Basically those with a UID starting with 1 on the CN server).

2. Stolen Tears Precious Chest (Fixed)
Before patch 2.3, if a player obtained the precious chest during the Stolen Tears quest FIRST, the precious chest located in the same location would be permanently despawned. Because of this players who opened the precious chest before completing the quest had 1 more precious chest in their battle chronicle than other players. Fortunately, this was fixed in 2.3 so that the chest respawned for all players who did not previously collect it.

Common Chest
1. Chasing Shadows Domain (Bug still exists)
This is another weird bug where you can technically get an infinite number of common chests. If you leave the domain after opening the common chest below, it will respawn since it is part of the quest objective to obtain the key to unlock the next room.
Unconfirmed / Other Possible Bugs
This section is for other bugs I have encountered / heard from other players that I have been unable to confirm myself.
1. Guyun Stone Forest Monument Precious Chest
This chest respawned for some players in patch 1.4. I had this chest despawn for me in patch 1.3 on one of my alt accounts, so I reported this to the CS team. I was happy to see it was fixed the next patch. However, it seems that this chest did not respawn just for players with the bug. It also respawned for some players who had already collected the chest. See the post here for an example. Because of this, I have no idea what the condition is for this chest respawning in 1.4.
2. Nine Pillars Quest Bug
A player reported opening the chests before completing the quest, so they were able to open the precious and luxurious chest twice. You can read their post here.
