Popsicle's Short Review

▲PROS: Varesa is considered one of the strongest Electro DPS in the game due to her high damage potential, especially when paired with her signature weapon. She caters to the players who want fast gameplay and offers greater flexibility in terms of rotation thanks to her unique Elemental Burst and easy attack combos.
▼CONS: Varesa is a bit picky when it comes to her weapon choice and teammates, considering that there is a huge damage disparity when you don't use her signature weapon and her desired team (like Bennett, Iansan, Xianyun, Xilonen, and Furina). Lastly, she doesn't do well much on using Elemental reactions.

Combat Profile
✦ Normal Attack | By The Horns

➤ Her Normal Attack is Varesa's core kit, which is the source of most of her damage. Her Plunging attacks allow her to plunge mid-air to strike the ground below, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Electro DMG, gaining 25 Nightsoul Points if she manages to hit an opponent.
➤ Fiery Passion
She can manage to enter in Fiery Passion state whenever her Nightsoul Points are at 40, enhancing the damage done by her Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack. Remember that the Fiery Passion and her Nightsoul Blessing will end if you use Plunging Attack while in this state.

✦ Elemental Skill | Riding the Night-Rainbow
❝Right now, I'm my own hero❠

➤ Her Elemental Skills allow her to rush forward and deal Nightsoul-aligned Electro DMG to opponents in her path. When using her Skill, her Normal Attack will be converted into a Charged Attack that doesn't consume 20 Stamina, but gains 20 Nightsoul Points thanks to her Follow-Up Strike effect. This also increases her Interruption resistance. At C0, she has 2 Skill charged.
➤ Sudden Onrush
This is the special exploratory mechanic that allows Varesa's Movement SPD and her Resistance Interruption to increase. You can use it to traverse around Natlan's terrain and use it to do flying leaps or run atop water or liquid Phlogiston. Running around liquid Phlogiston makes her immune to DMG. Remember, you can activate this mechanic by Holding her Skill.
➤ Fiery Passion
It's basically her unique ability that allows her damage to be further enhanced. As stated earlier, you can enter this state by fulfilling 40 Nightsoul Points, or you can use her Elemental Burst. While in this state, her Normal Attacks, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst will gain a unique buff to herself. Furthermore, you can use the shorter version of her Burst while in this state.

✦ Elemental Burst | Guardian Vent!
❝In truth, the original name Varesa gave this move was the "Invincible Dynamic Heroic Justice Super Mega Ultimate Thundercrash Sky-Splitting Supersonic Boom Kick." Alas, this name proved too long, and she was too embarrassed to shout it in front of everyone, even with her mask on. As such, she changed it to its present title instead.❠

➤ Her Elemental Burst allows her to leap into the air and unleashes her powerful flying kick, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Electro DMG to her opponents. It will deal greater damage when she's in the Fiery Passion state. IF she's not, it will restore Nightsoul Points, and she will enter in Fiery Passion state.
➤ Apex Drive
This allows Varesa to use her Elemental Burst without fulfilling her 70 Energy requirement. If you managed to activate this state, it will ignore her Burst's cooldown, and you will only spend 30 Energy on her special Elemental Burst "Guardian Vent: Volcano Kablam" that deals Nightsoul-aligned AoE Electro DMG, causing her to use her special Plunging Attack "Thunderous Tornardo Eruption". The damage done by her Apex Drive is considered to be a Plunging Attack DMG. You will exit after you use her Elemental Skill.

Passive Ability
✦ Utility Passive | Blazing Heart, Singular Advance!
❝Will there be enough food? If not, I brought my own stash!❠
➤ Varesa' Spint's speed is increased regardless of whether she's in combat or not. However, the Sprint Stamina consumption is increased whenever she's sprinting outside of combat. Additionally, she gains Phlogiston whenever she consumes food.

✦ Night Realm's Gift Passive | A Torch That Incinerates Evil
❝Um... Are these edible?❠
➤ Unique to Natlan characters, she will use Phlogiston to maintain her Sudden Onrush. Additionally, you can switch into Varesa when your current active character is sprinting or in movement modes caused by certain Talents (i.e., Iansan's). Additionally, she won't take any fall DMG when she's using terrain difference in Natlan to make leaps.

✦ 1st Ascension Passive | Tag-TeamTriple Jump!
❝Whoa... I'm really feeling the results of my training! I'm so energized right now, I just want to sprint and jump and plow through all the obstacles in my way!❠
➤ Her A1 Passive allows Varesa to gain Rainbow Crash when she uses her Skill, allowing the shockwave DMG from her Plunging Attack to increase by 50% of her ATK and 180% of her ATK while in Fiery Passion state. This lasts for 5 seconds and can be cancelled whenever she's hit an opponent. This further increases Varesa's personal damage.

✦ 4th Ascension Passive | The Hero Twice-Returned!
❝My goal... is to become a strong warrior just like the heroes I admire, and fight to protect the most important thing of all: justice. Because everyone deserves a happy and carefree life, uninterrupted by the bad things and bad people out there!❠
➤ Her A4 Passive allows Varesa's ATK to be increased whenever someone triggers a Nightsoul Burst, which can stack twice and lasts for 12 seconds.

Constellations
✦ C1 - Undying Passion
➤ Varesa's C1 enhances her A1 Passive by allowing her special Plunging Attack to gain Rainbow Crash for 5 seconds. This also increases the damage on her Plunging Attack ground impact damage to 180%, regardless of whether she's in Fiery Passion state or not, further increasing her damage. Additionally, he consumes 30% less Nightsoul Points or Phlogiston whenever she's on Sudden Onrush mode, helping her to explore Natlan more.
✦ C2 - Beyond the Edge of Light
➤ Varesa's C2 improves the condition to activate her Apex Drive since she will enter that state whenever she's in the Fiery Passion state or not. It also restores Energy to her whenever her Plunging Attack ground impact hits an opponent.
✦ C3 - Unbowed Resolved
➤ It further increases her Elemental Burst's Talent Level to 15.
✦ C4 - The Courage to Press On
➤ Varesa's C4 enhances the damage done by her short Burst and buffs up her Plunging Attack using her normal Elemental Burst, further increasing her damage potential by a lot.
✦ C5 - Thoughts Floating on the Warm Breeze
➤ It further increases her Normal Attack's Talent Level to 15.
✦ C6 - A Hero of Justice's Triumph
➤ Varesa's C6 is her best constellation, allowing her to restore 30 Energy when she uses her short Burst, further increases her Plunging Attacks and her Burst's Crit Rate and Crit DMG, and allows her to restore Nightsoul Points whenever she uses her Skill while in the Sudden Onrush mode. This makes Varesa an outstanding character to have.

About Constellation
➤ Mascara Luctatori = Wrestling Mask
➤ Varesa's constellation resembles a wrestling mask that was used by Mexican wrestlers whenever they are participating in Lucha libre. These masks were used to identify a luchador's identity by styling it with any images that draw their strength, including Mexican folklore. These mask is often used by professional wrestlers as part of their in-ring persona. Notable professional wrestlers who use wrestling masks where El Santo, Jushin Thunder Liger, Rey Mysterio, and Mil Máscaras.

Build Section
Plunge DPS
Build Notes
As mentioned, Varesa excels at being a Plunge DPS thanks to her kit dedicated to enhancing and improving her Plunge Attack DMG. Your goal is to squeeze out as much damage for her to shine, making her a viable DPS of your choice. As always, you can check her talent prioritization in the Quick Glance section.
Plunge DPS Weapon Recommendation
Vivid Notions
➤ Varesa's signature five-star weapon and her recommended weapon of choice, thanks to its passive that increases her Plunge Attack DMG by buffing up her Crit DMG and increasing her ATK. Among all of her five-star options, this is will give her a massive boost to her damage.

Kagura's Verity
➤ Varesa's secondary five-star weapon of choice, thanks to its high Crit DMG and increasing her Electro DMG Bonus. It is farily compensated by higher Crit DMG than her signature weapon

Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds
➤ Another option for Varesa because of its high Crit Rate and Electro DMG Bonus that she can gain every 4 seconds. Just make sure not to use Obsidian Codex on her for you to have an easier build.

Crane's Echoing Call
➤ Unless you don't have Xianyun in your team, Varesa can take advantage of this weapon because it increases Varesa's Plunging Attack. If you have Xianyun, it is best for her to use her signature weapon.

Memory of Dust
➤ Another option for Varesa if you want to further increase her total ATK (and assuming you have a good Crit Rate/Crit DMG ratio on her attributes). You can also use this if you want to pair her with Zhongli or Layla.

Surf's Up
➤ Even though there is a huge Max HP on this weapon, Varesa can definitely use it because of the high Crit DMG. Take note that you can use Obsidian Codex when using this weapon on her.

The Widsith
➤ At R5, this weapon performs similarly to Kagura's Verity, making it one of the four-star weapon options that you can use on her. However, just pray that you will get the Recitative buff when playing this weapon on her as it can be a bit inconsistent.

Flowing Purity
➤ Another four-star weapon that you can use on her as long it has high refinement levels and has a dedicated healer on Varesa's team. You can get this one for free.

Wandering Evenstar
➤ If you have an excess of Elemental Mastery and you don't want to grind up for her artifacts, you can use this weapon to convert her Elemental Mastery to ATK. It's not good if you're planning to use this weapon in a long term.

Blackcliff Agate
➤ Although the weapon's passive is a bit inconsistent to manage, the weapon's high Crit DMG is one of the reason why you should get this weapon for Varesa.

Eye of Perception
➤ Another option for Varesa to use as a stat stick thanks to its high ATK substat.

Frostbearer
➤ Another option for Varesa to use as a stat stick thanks to its high ATK substat.

Plunge DPS Artifact Recommendation
Long Night's Oath
➤ Varesa's default set is as it is pretty much tailored to her kit, allowing her to shine and deal more Plunge Attack DMG.
Obsidian Codex
➤ Varesa's alternative option if you don't want to waste your resin, as this set is much more refining-efficient to farm (as it is shared by the Scroll of the Heroes of the Cinder City). Just remember not to overcap your Crit Rate if you're planning to use this set on her.
Marechaussee Hunter
➤ You can use this set if you're planning to pair Varesa with Furina (and assuming you have a decent artifact main stat).
(2-pc) +18% ATK set
➤ You can use it as your temporary set and pair it up with 2-pc Long Night's Oath or 2-pc Obsidian Codex.
Brave Heart
➤ New players can use this set as it can increase Varesa's damage even at low AR.

Community Insight

Conclusion

It's been some time since we saw another Plunge DPS like Xiao and Gaming, but with the introduction of Xianyun, Varesa became the newest star that shines better when using this niche gameplay. Even though players may find Varesa's kit a bit intimidating, it has a fun aspect to it, allowing you to have amusement when you use her when you travel across Teyvat or trying your abilities in Spiral Abyss and Envisaged Echoes. If you invest enough time with her and master her combat rotation, you would have a nice experience using her in the game.
