Any Enviosity fans? If he sees this he's going to be so mad at me lol
So for anybody that hasn't been following it Envi released a video pulling for Rosaria a while back and didn't get her. He then put not getting Rosaria as one of his regrets while playing the game. I previously released a response to his f2p account showcase video previously with a focus on how you don't actually have to play as religiously as he does to get pretty much the same out of the account. But not only that I had so many more characters than he did.
The issue I found for why his account had pretty much only earnable characters and 1 5* in Jean while mine has all the 4*s and most of the 5*s is that he follows the "save primogems" strategy. What that means is exactly what it sounds like: You save up primogems and skip over banners until the one you really want. I have nothing but respect for anybody who can hold off on getting characters until the 5* they had their eye on. Here's the problem with that. How do you know you don't want any of the other characters? People don't tend to really know for sure what they want. Anybody who's been in more than one relationship knows that. And Envi while he said he was waiting for Eula ended up in this same mess since he really wanted Rosaria.
And that's why my advice is to just pull for characters. In the beginning you have pretty much nothing so it can't hurt you to try for any characters. Every single character of this game is valuable because they all play differently. So you never really know that you don't want a character until you've gotten that character and experience them yourself. Not only that but while waiting for the character you know you want you'll have so much more fun with a ton of other characters than pushing on with the few you can earn all the way until then. Eula just dropped not too long ago. That's mid-May 2021. The game came out back in September 2020. We're over the half-year mark so you would be waiting about 8 months to get Eula now and playing with nothing that whole time. And then how will you feel when a player like me gets her too?

I should clarify again if you are a player who is just interested in a specific character like Eula I have nothing but respect for you and your strategy. This is advice for those who end up like Envi with FOMO for a character in the middle of that road to Eula and that he gets so upset by it that he puts not getting her on a list of regrets. Bennett is my example. Back when this game started nobody cared about Bennett. His design didn't resonate with most of the players. But after it was discovered how powerful his Support was everybody wanted him. Imagine that's you saving up for Eula. Do you try for him now? Or do you continue to save? Not a fun choice is it? On the other hand people who lost out on Zhongli back in his first banner just got their chance to get him again. Limited banners aren't limited because the characters are limited. They are limited because they temporarily give you an even better chance to get them. If Envi hadn't gotten Eula this time he could still get her when she comes back. In the meantime he could have so many characters to play around with.
Now I'm going to put up a disclaimer here. Just because you take my advice does NOT mean your account will just happen to look like mine. All jokes aside getting characters is 100% RNG. So even if you do my "get the characters" strategy you may suffer really bad RNG and not get all the 4*s. But I can pretty much guarantee it'll still look better than Envi's. The 4* pity is 10 and we get so many more than 10 per banner. Just on v1.5's banners I've spent well over 50. That's at least 5 4* drops. And we still have more gems coming to us including another 300 just from the v1.6 livestream this Friday. And 90 is still the hard limit for getting a 5*. So you are guaranteed over the months you've played that you'd have a few 5*s even if it isn't the 1 that you really want.
I can also put another disclaimer to say my account is not actually the best either. I've seen other f2p accounts who have basically all the characters missing maybe 1 or 2 5*s. Some f2p have gotten multiple 5*s in a single 10 pull too. So following my advice could even get you an account that looks even nicer than mine. Again 100% RNG.
Anyway part 2 of my advice is that once you've gotten most of these characters you can go right back to the save primogems strat. Because if you've got like 20 out of the 31 characters your chances of getting FOMO drastically decreases. I mean sure Envi really got envious not getting Rosaria but what if he had Hutao? Would he really care that much that he didn't get her? Like if he had basically all the polearm characters or all the Cryo characters would he really care as much as he did not getting another Cryo polearm character? So for me personally when Lantern Rite started I was still missing Diona and Beidou. Beidou was earnable in the event so I was basically just missing Diona when Xiao's banner dropped. And I knew Hutao was also coming and I really wanted her. So I tried a few on Xiao's and ended up getting Diona. And then also Beidou lol. All the 4*s. So I just skipped over Xiao and Keqing also (still don't have her) because I really wanted to have the best chances at Hutao. Do I care that I didn't get Xiao or Keqing? No I have so many sword characters (that I don't use) and Electro characters and polearm characters including Hutao. After Hutao I really didn't care about Venti or Childe so I skipped until Childe for Rosaria and then stopped once I had her. Then I only pulled on Zhongli's rerun until I got Yanfei because while I did want Constellations for Zhongli (I really want a healing Zhongli just because those green numbers are comforting lol) I decided I'd rather try to get the new character and skipped. (And after the memes and art I'm really glad I chose not to go for Zhongli Constellations lol)
Ok tl;dr from me again:
-Saving up and skipping banners only works if you can guarantee you will not get FOMO for any of the new characters in between now and when your character releases.
-Pulling multiple characters works for most players because all the characters are made well and you are better off having them ready than seeing somebody using one you don't have and then getting FOMO because you didn't get them.
-Once you've gotten most of these characters you're much less likely to get FOMO since you've got so many characters to play with already more than you'll ever really commit to. So feel free to go back to saving up and skipping banners then.
-4* pity is 10 pulls. You're very likely to get something. 5* pity is a solid 90 so you will get 5*s while you spend no matter what. Saving up on the other hand means you will 100% guarantee you don't get any of those characters.
-Don't tell Envi about any of this for my sake. Congratulate him for getting his Eula and 2 Monas and move on ehe ehe[emoji]
