MiHoYo Fix This!

Recently a few content creators have brought up a problem in the game with relation to the banners.

Back when the game came out the major complaint was that there was nothing to do. Now while you may or may not agree with that, something that worked well with "not having enough content" is that it didn't take very long to get through it all. That means for the brand new characters that dropped you'd be able to farm for their mats pretty quickly.

But that's no longer the case. With tons more content around in terms of story quests it's starting to take longer and longer to get through it all. And the newest characters have mats that can only be found or farmed at the furthest points of the game.

For example to farm for Itto you'd need to get all the way out to Tsurumi to farm the Wolflord boss. And for even newer characters like Shenhe and Yae Miko?

You need to get to and finish up the quest for Enkanomiya! Just the Enkanomiya stuff alone is long! According to the content creators doing it all might take up to a month. Our patches last 6 weeks so that'd be like getting your Yae Miko on day 1 of the patch but then only being able to use Yae at her full power almost by the time the patch is ending. And it'll only take longer the older this game gets. Imagine being a new player when the Tsaritsa drops!

So it is a valid concern by these content creators that newbie players thinking about playing Genshin Impact might take one look at how far they'd have to play just to be able to use their cool new characters and decide to walk away.

===============

But unlike most times when these issues come up this time MiHoYo's actually thought of that. Or have you guys not been paying attention to the banners?

The idea is that while yes the game will continue moving forward - which means us older players will want to see new characters that newbies won't be able to use - but the game is also far enough along that we have plenty of old characters we want to see reruns for too. Originally reruns took the place of one banner cycle. Zhongli's first rerun was him and then new character Eula. But now we're getting up to 4 banners simultaneously with old characters running side by side with new characters. Xiao ran with Shenhe and now Venti will run with Ayato.

Is it a perfect system? Of course not. We also have this patch where even though there were 2 reruns all 3 banners were still Inazuma characters. But it is a functional idea for now. New players could opt to go for Venti instead of Ayato because you'll probably need to unlock the Chasm and do that new Ruin Snake boss for his mats. OR they could choose to get Ayato anyway but understand that they'll need to play through the game before they can unlock his full potential. It's a choice.

Is there a way to make this system better? Yes and in fact Tenha who was one of the content creators that brought it up came up with a great idea. If you're new but you want to play with the newly released character then MiHoYo just needs to make a bundle.

Any player who still wants to roll for a character with mats in the far distant lands while they're still fishing Paimon out of the lake can p2w. You always have the choice in this game whether to take your time or get things handed to you through payment. Want that 5* character? Either save up the freemogems and try to plan it out or buy some Genesis crystals and guarantee it 100%.

On top of that Tenha's idea works perfectly for content creators who already spend to C6 any new characters that drop. The biggest complaint I've heard from them is that they can't max out these new characters on day 1. That's not a normal player problem. Nobody needs Yae Miko at lvl90 with crowned talents right after updating. Mine is still at lvl70 with Talent lvl3 and I did get her on day 1! (Mostly I'm doing that just to see how powerful she is. Fyi I've been using her to clear lvl90 Domains. She's pretty good.) But content creators who do meta videos feel a need to get these characters leveled and maxed so they can showcase the peak power of their new character. Tenha's idea gives them a way to do exactly that on day 1.

Is there something else MiHoYo could also do? Yes and I brought that up a while ago. It's been almost a year and a half since this game launched. In that time we've now amassed a total of 46 characters. I'd probably save it for the anniversary but it's getting to be time for a "Year 1" Wanderlust Banner. Since these characters have all gotten a rerun now and some even have had rereruns older players are starting to no longer need them which limits their earning potential. But for new players and old f2p players being able to grab them would still be valuable and another good reason to stick with this game. It may even give new whales a reason to spend money on the Acquaint Fates.

Anyway what do you think guys? Do you see this as a problem for yourself or newer players? And if you do do you have another solution to this problem?
