Greetings Lords, Ladies and all fellow users of the LAB!
This is User_110'someone'
joining from the digi-verse of HoYoverse's HoYoLAB
and today I welcome you to another Moderator Monday discussion!
The title should be self explanatory if you caught up with my recent posts. If not, I'll leave this post below for you to read so you get an idea of what went on.
Reports
The Skibidiman saga: a 20-year old who e-dated 8 minors
Man I would've loved to give him an experience like how I do it with the Tectone chess bot every morning. Fortunately though the Skibidiman is no more.
I got many reports from a lot of my friends and followers about this vulgar user who has some real weird shi going on. I'm guessing this fella was luring minors and getting on Discord for lord knows what.

💀

There's little publicly available records, that is to say HoYoLAB staff has handled everything a few weeks back.
I strongly suggest you to be more vigilant if you are one who is living with your parents, going to school, a minor or someone who has yet to experience what the other side of society is. Online anonymity takes things beyond what you can easily see, so unless you have guidance, please stay in your safe zone. You don't know what kind of maniac is waiting outside.
I didn't get to see this live as it happened nor did I open HoYoLAB those days because I was down with fever honestly. Anyway, I'm really really thankful to everyone who reported him to HoYoLAB and especially those who forwarded the case to me too.
Free Primos and scam bots
On the last day I opened HoYoLAB before my hiatus, I saw a strange user which had followed and unfollowed me. (Ouch!) Although I don't usually check back on these, I had to report them because I read that the same thing happened to a few more users.
This was a bot which had a link in their profile signature which "gave free primos lol".

Now if you didn't see that as a red flag, you were definitely under the influence of Primogems.
My friend 傅孟晓/pphu15 also reported a bot who advertised an illegal gambling website.
Another report I got from my friend ☾⋆⁺✩AsterCastor✩°.⋆☾ had a profile which had a link with a very suggestive remark. Simply put it was goonerbait but more leaned towards phishing. The same as before.
There's no such thing as "Free Primogems" in this world. Every bit of Primogems we have gained are all because of good reasons like server maintenance, bugs, watching livestreams, interacting with official pages, and hard earned ones from spending money to grinding in-game.
So if it's not obvious, this is a scam to get your sensitive data.
I doubt I need to reiterate how a simple click on a link is enough to get a lot more out of you. So never trust these kind of sites and don't try links on incognito either. (I know y'all silly gooners all too well... )
These type of attacks do happen in almost every platform. Hopefully the moderation system here constantly gets updated and as soon as a report gets through, it's only a short matter of time.
AI fanatic feeding art from other artists
An ill mannered user, who decided to feed an AI the artworks of others without consent and "redesign" it because they disliked it, was recently banned.

No cap fr fr
I believe I got notified twice or thrice by a couple of different friends and followers, who saw this mayhem live.
Although I couldn't really help much, the person was muted on two or more occasions including a ban on an alt. Let's hope this doesn't happen again.
HoYoLAB's policy for AIGC
On the last week of May, I was asked a good question by cheesyMAKaroni which was about the official policies HoYoLAB has for AI generated content, whether all posts tagged AI would be removed and what can be done to discouraged AIGC in the platform.

No specific AI policies in HoYoLAB
First of all, there are no rules exclusively for AI in the community guidelines. In fact, there's not a single mention of AIGC in the ToS or Privacy Policy. However the updated ToS and Privacy Policy does elaborate a lot of legal aspects we didn't have before, thanks to some cases from the past, including copyright infringement.
For most AI content posters, this infringement is what kicks them. There are those who are far advanced than the average Joes we see who have little to no idea about training data and how GenAI works. Most applicable laws allow GenAI to generate images only while upholding IP laws and copyright.
In Singapore, where the Cognosphere office responsible for HoYoLAB is located, AI is regulated by law as far as I'm aware. So in a legal sense HoYoLAB is very well prepared after the incident from last year.
AIGC has no acknowledgement here
Let's narrow the topic back to HoYoLAB now. While I cannot disclose some details that are not publicly available, I can guarantee you that AIGC was never encouraged in HoYoLAB. It never will be, despite how much of it you will see or how many likes it can rake up.
My role as a moderator is to feature original, high quality works and help with a few other minor tasks. So I can reassure that AIGC is never considered "original, high quality work" as per our guidelines.
On another note, I am also a HoYoCreator, a title that is more rare to HoYoLAB users now. Because the eligibility criteria are rather high, not many casual content creators can pass this milestone let alone AI CCs wouldn't even stand a chance. I know it takes effort, but effort alone can't get you to the places you want.
Do posts tagged AI get removed?
Secondly, no. Posts under the topic AI are not removed simply based on the tag. It's probably that most users who do post these stuff end up violating the guidelines by other means (i.e. NSFW content, verbal harassment or so).
How can we discourage AIGC here?
Finally, the question as to how the AIGC should be discouraged, I'd argue that we should stop commenting on these posts. In my humble opinion, I think it's those "pick up the pencil" and "no AI" memes in the comments that really helped these posts get exposure. AI content for me seems like something we don't need to be engaging with. Users behind it can't really use them in HoYoLAB for profit. All they could do, is just to gather an audience from here and advertise their profiles from elsewhere. That's the only thing they can gain besides clout. No incentives, no acknowledgement, no rewards, no friends, so what is it that drives them besides the likes and comments?
I'm not asking you to ignore them. I'm just telling you that you don't need to be wasting your own time over people who have wasted theirs. Stop giving AI posts organic traffic. Just don't comment or respond with 💔 which would give those posts more interactions. On top of that, please don't target those who post AI either – it just makes things worse.
AI is something we should be more aware than afraid. The technology on its own is something very capable and we can integrate it for a more productive future. As of now however, we need to learn, educate and help improve the situation society is facing. This act of commercialising AI, in the guise of showing it as an open source service is a discussion that should reach beyond just HoYoLAB. So whether you support using AI to generate images or not, I welcome you to share your thoughts in a very based and real discussion. Not everyone can handle it and not every opinion will be correct but more than anything, we can keep the conversation human.
Before I end this post, I want to say thank you for everyone who helped HoYoLAB while I was down. Here are some honorable mentions.
The hero HoYoLAB needed,
The very determined user who gave it their best to stop the skibidiman,
..and everyone helped in those cases including these awesome people!
