So we'll be undoing the curse

It feels like MiHoYo's just playing with our emotions and tugging at our heartstrings here. I mean each time we do a quest with these respective sides we're meant to feel for that side.

This time it's Dainsleif so we're meant to feel bad for Khaenri'ah again. But keep in mind what Khaenri'ah was doing around Teyvat. We only just learned more about the specifics thanks to Ei. They are not innocent in all this.

But considering who Dainsleif is what he says also makes sense and I think it's actually MiHoYo telling the more important story about our real world situation. Just because you met a bad guy from a specific part of the world or who is of a specific color, code or creed doesn't make everybody like that bad too. It's important to distinguish between the person causing the trouble and the other people they just happen to resemble.

This is why Genshin is so good.

Anyway never thought we'd get confirmation of it so soon but the detail was nice. And I love the poetry here too. This quest is still super new so I'll try to be as spoiler free as I can. And sadly even its name is a spoiler haha.

So this one's limited on what I can say so I'll just put out the stuff that's either not really relevant to it or stuff we probably should have guessed already.

In the picture above that would be me celebrating that I did peg this game and MiHoYo for that classic anime twin thing. Yes this is why it is almost 100% guaranteed that Makoto is just like Ei a human that became an Archon and not the original Archon. (Actually it's funny in the new quest they only call her the "previous" Archon. Real cute MiHoYo.)

Ei's Constellation being Imperiatrix Umbrosa must mean Makoto's is Imperiatrix Veritas because they are twins and twins are a single soul in two bodies according to many anime. Our traveler twins are also linked and they share the Constellation Viator/Viatrix. The only difference here is that they are fraternal twins and Latin has genders Viator for male traveler and Viatrix for female traveler. If Scara was Ei and Makoto's real brother and they were triplets then he'd be your Imperiator and probably something like Imperiator Eversio because his Japanese name Kunikuzushi means Country Destroyer and eversio is Latin for overthrow and destruction. (Works so well for his lines in the Archon Quest!)

Ok anyway another thing but this time it happens in all of fiction is when there's a bad thing somebody's going through they will always tell the protag that "there's no way out" and that means "there's totally a way out" because you're talking to the protag you dummy!

Back in We Will Be Reunited our sibling tells us that Dainsleif was cursed with eternal life for failing to save Khaenri'ah. He is now saying that the curse can't be lifted. Obviously the point is we will lift it. It may even play out in the way Dainsleif says in Travail. We'll have to prove him wrong, save him from the curse and that'll prove to him that we can save "her" which is really obvious by now that he's talking about Lumine. Actually this quest makes it only make sense if Lumine's on the Abyss side and our main character is Aether. If you play as Lumine the quest doesn't make sense at a specific part lol

Side note: I wonder if we used to only have the option to play Aether but MiHoYo was at least marketing savvy enough to know players like choice so they let us pick Lumine. But they forgot that certain elements like the flower only work for Lumine and they should have added something for Aether too.

This story isn't so great for moving ahead but it definitely fills out more blanks about what happened after Khaenri'ah fell and that makes me think that all these Dainsleif quests will just be foreshadowing for when we actually get to Khaenri'ah.

Side note: Once upon a time I actually came up with an idea like this but smaller scale so MiHoYo could hint at the other regions. For example if we talked to Mona about making her column's deadline. Then it'd be a small quest where we play out her telling us the story. So we'd get a Trial Mona and get sent to a trial Fontaine that's limited to the parts she's telling us about almost like a Domain. That way we get to see Fontaine early but in bits and pieces so it doesn't have to be exactly the final product just more of a taste of what we might get.

Once I think everybody had the chance to get through this quest there's a few more things to talk about. It's all working out.
