Genshin wants to tell you that burning fossil fuels is bad. Fossil fuels are Abyssal Energy and it builds up into Oozing Concretions that leak out Dark Mud. This stuff powers the evil "field tillers" of Khaenri'ah that don't drop enough Ascension mats. Evil I tell you!
Seriously from the fact that it's happening in a mine, a big tunneling snake machine is leaking it out of itself during the boss battle and that it's smelly sticky stuff that's black what other conclusion was I supposed to draw? 
Also from last update we learned that Abyss magic is a drug that the Abyss Order is addicted to but it's a dangerous habit. I mean taking crude oil is most definitely bad for a person's health but I think we could even go a step further. Tar is something that's found in cigarettes and tar is also made of oil after all.
So coincidentally Genshin just pulled off an anti-smoking ad lol
PS: I would also mention that Adjuvant the name of the thing we enhance with Lumenspars and Ore is the name of a cancer treatment therapy and both smoking and miners who breathe in too much cave dust causes lung cancer. BUT it turns out that's just the English name for it. In Chinese it's actually just Catalyst. Still I wonder if the English localization team was high-fiving each other for this one haha
