Name & Origin
“Nefer” comes from the Egyptian hieroglyph 𓄤, shaped like a heart + windpipe. It means perfect, good, beautiful, and it often appeared in royal names like Nefertiti and Nefertari in ancient Egypt. The name also appears in characters like Vivi from One Piece and Neferpitou from Hunter × Hunter.

Her design seems inspired by Wadjet, the serpent goddess of Lower Egypt. The metal bangles, neck rings, and belt are all classic elements of ancient Egyptian fashion.
Gold & Green Palette
- Gold shines with the light of the Sun, a symbol of divinity and power, tied to the sun god Ra.
- Green stands for life and renewal, like the plants growing along the Nile’s shores. It’s also connected to Osiris, god of death and rebirth. And the name Wadjet itself means “the Green One.”

Serpent Motif
Nefer’s fangs, snake-like eyes, and a headpiece that spreads like a cobra’s hood all give off that serpent vibe. Even her belt spreads out like Wadjet’s wings.

In Egyptian myths, snakes stand for rebirth , like the Ouroboros, a serpent biting its own tail to form an endless circle. Like the sun disk , a symbol of rebirth and the endless cycle of day and night.

Eye of Ra
Nefer’s eye represents the Eye of Ra, not the Eye of Horus.
Ra’s right eye is tied to the Sun, while Horus’s left eye is linked to the Moon.
The Eye of Ra is a symbol of the Sun God’s power, often carried by goddesses like Wadjet.
However, Nefer’s eye looks incomplete… maybe a sign that her full power hasn’t awakened yet.

Cat Symbolism
Both her weapon’s cat design and black cat companion reference Bastet, the cat goddess. Bastet and Wadjet are said to be daughters of Ra, serving as guardians of the pharaoh and the Sun.

Triangular Motifs
Upright triangles remind us of pyramids, the “Stairway of Ra”, a symbol of ascension.
Inverted triangles resemble the Nile Delta, source of life in Lower Egypt. Both Nefer and her black cat trace back to the guardians of Lower Egypt.

Nefer’s design blends both symbols:
- Power from Ra (upright triangle) :seen in her elemental burst and weapon.
- Origin from Nile Delta (inverted triangle) : reflected in her outfit and overall look.

Myth-based Speculation
- Nefer might share some connection with Candace, who carries the Eye of Horus.
- In myth, her black cat is said to be fighting Apep, the serpent of chaos. The same name as the Dendro Dragon in Genshin Impact.
