Hi everyone mineciel here, let's go to learn about durin mechanic!
This content is based on Creator Experience Server data, and analysis creator; please refer to the online server for accuracy.
=Character Role and Core Mechanics=
Durin is a 5 star Pyro Sword character who functions primarily as a DPS while also providing substantial supportive buffs to his team.Durin can serve as an off-field Sub-DPS or RES-Shred support depending on the situation.
Upon casting his Elemental Skill, Durin gains the Essential Transmutation effect. While this effect is active, pressing his Skill transitions him into the Confirmation of Purity state, whereas performing Normal Attacks shifts him into the Denial of Darkness state. Each state offers distinct bonuses and grants access to a unique Elemental Burst.
Principle of Purity: As the Light Shifts
This Burst is available only in the Confirmation of Purity state. Durin delivers three instances of AoE Pyro DMG and summons the Dragon of White Flame, which trails the active character and periodically inflicts AoE Pyro DMG. When nearby teammates trigger Burning, Overloaded, Pyro Swirl, or Pyro Crystallize reactions on an enemy, that enemy’s Pyro RES—as well as the RES of the Element involved in the reaction—is reduced.
Principle of Darkness: As the Stars Smolder
This Burst is exclusive to the Denial of Darkness state. Durin releases three hits of AoE Pyro DMG and summons the Dragon of Dark Decay, which targets a single enemy at intervals with Pyro DMG. In this state, Durin’s Vaporize DMG and Melt DMG are both increased by 40%.

His core mechanics are as follows:
Essential Transmutation
After using his Elemental Skill Binary Form: Convergence and Division, Durin gains a 6-second effect that lets the player choose between two modes:
- Press Skill again → enters Confirmation of Purity, granting purity-based buffs.
- Press Normal Attack → enters Denial of Darkness, granting darkness-based buffs.
Each mode provides different bonuses and allows Durin to unleash a different Elemental Burst depending on the chosen state.
Combo E-A special -Q (granting darkness based buff)

combo E-E special -Q (granting white flame based)

=Talent Analysis=
Talent Leveling Priority: Elemental Burst >Elemental Skill

Normal Attack
Radiant Winglash

Skill Analysis:
Normal Attack = Durin uses his sword to perform four consecutive strikes,
Charged Attack= unleash a powerful forward slash that consumes Stamina, and
Plunging Attack= strike enemies from mid-air with an AoE impact
Elemental Skill
Binary Form: Convergence and Division

Skill Analysis:
Durin can enter Essential Transmutation, which replaces his Skill and Normal Attack with two special options:
- Confirmation of Purity: Deals 1 AoE Pyro hit and enters the Purity mode.
- Denial of Darkness: Deals 3 Pyro hits and enters the Darkness mode.
Choosing either mode ends the transmutation and restores Energy (once every 6 seconds). These two modes represent the dual aspects of Durin’s power: Purity and Darkness.
Elemental burst
Principle of Purity: As the Light Shifts

Durin has two different Elemental Burst forms, depending on his Essential Transmutation state.
Confirmation of Purity:
Durin uses Principle of Purity: As the Light Shifts, unleashing 3 instances of AoE Pyro DMG and summoning the Dragon of White Flame. This dragon follows the active character and periodically attacks nearby enemies with AoE Pyro DMG (considered Burst DMG).
Denial of Darkness:
Durin uses Principle of Darkness: As the Stars Smolder, also dealing 3 instances of AoE Pyro DMG, but summons the Dragon of Dark Decay, which periodically attacks a single target with Pyro Burst DMG.
If Durin is not in any special state, he automatically uses the Principle of Purity Burst.
In essence, Durin can manifest the “power of the Beast” in two different forms—purity or darkness—reflecting one’s choice to become either radiance or rage.
Passive talent

A1 Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus
Durin’s Elemental Burst grants different buffs depending on the form his power takes.
- Dragon of White Flame: Weakens enemies by reducing their Pyro RES and the corresponding Elemental RES involved in the reaction by 20% for 6 seconds when party members trigger certain Pyro-related reactions or deal Pyro/Dendro DMG to Burning enemies.
- Dragon of Dark Decay: Enhances Durin’s own reaction damage by increasing his Vaporize DMG and Melt DMG by 40%.
simple , White Flame = teamwide enemy debuff, Dark Decay = boosts Durin’s personal reaction damage.
A2 Chaos Formed Like the Night
After Durin uses his Burst, he gains the Primordial Fusion effect for 20 seconds, containing 10 stacks. Each time a periodic attack from either of Durin’s forms hits an enemy, 1 stack is consumed to grant bonus DMG, up to a maximum of 75% additional DMG. If a single attack hits multiple enemies, only 1 stack is consumed. All stacks are reset each time Durin activates his Burst again.
A3 Witch's Eve Rite: Ode to Ascension
After completing Witch's Homework: Of This World, Durin becomes a Hexerei character. If the party contains at least 2 Hexerei characters, the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect activates and increases all effects of the Ascension Talent Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus (except its duration) by 75%.
Simple= Durin + another Hexerei character = triggers a special Hexerei team buff that strengthens their Ascension Talent effects.
A4 Echoes of the Surging Earth
Durin grants 25% extra rewards for 20-hour Mondstadt expeditions.

=How to build Durin's ? How's his DMG?=
How to Build?
Durin damage scales with ATK, Durin has full ATK scaling on all of his talents. All of his damage—ranging from the three-hit Burst (both Purity and Darkness), the attacks from the Dragon of White Flame, and the Dragon of Dark Decay—entirely uses a percentage of ATK as its base calculation.
The only difference between the two Burst forms is their attack pattern: Purity deals AoE Pyro DMG and summons a Dragon that attacks in an area, while Darkness deals single-target Pyro DMG and summons a Dragon that focuses on one enemy. Despite the different effects, both Burst types still rely on ATK as their sole scaling source.
Durin’s damage = 90% ATK scaling + internal bonuses (Hexerei) + CRIT + Pyro DMG Bonus
✔Durin preferred artifact set Noblesse Oblige increases Burst DMG, which directly boosts the total damage and overall effectiveness of Durin’s entire kit, while also allowing him to buff the whole party. Because of this, Noblesse makes Durin’s Burst stronger and grants an ATK buff to the entire team.
Recommended Stats: ATK ≥ 2200, ER in codition when you use double Pyro in team 130-150%, then in codition when you use one pyro in team you can use ER~175%, CR=55% and CDM= 180%,
✔ Both Purity and Darkness Bursts still scale from ATK—the difference lies only in AoE vs single-target and the Dragon’s behavior.
How is the DMG?
Based on the above stats, when paired with his signature weapon and solo (no team), Athame Artis R1 LV.90, and the 2-piece emblem of severated fate and 2 piece Noblesse Oblige, Durin C0 with 1 enemy :
●Lv. 1 Normal Attack = 13.630~
● Lv. 8 Elemental Skill (purify form)= 14.908~ and elemental skill (darkness form)=22.146~
● Lv.10 Elemental Burst: 350k~
For information on how to build, you can check my post.

=Best Constellation=

C0 is decent, but it does not fully maximize the potential of his dragon-form stacks (since their duration is relatively short).
C1 grants Cycle of Enlightenment, which is a very powerful source of internal DMG.
Purity Mode (team buff)
- Grants 20 stacks to all party members.
- Each attack consumes 1 stack → +60% of Durin’s ATK as bonus DMG.
- The stacks are tracked individually for each character.
This makes C1 the best Pyro/Anemo/Dendro team buff Durin can provide.
Darkness Mode (self DPS)
- Durin gains 20 stacks.
- Each Burst hit consumes 2 stacks → +150% of Durin’s ATK.
- This grants Durin a very significant personal DPS
c2 focuses on Pyro-related reactions during the 20 seconds after Durin uses his Burst.
Whenever the team triggers:
- Vaporize, Melt, Burning, Overloaded, Pyro Swirl, Pyro Crystallize
- or deals Pyro/Dendro DMG to a Burning target
→ All party members gain:
⭐ +50% Pyro DMG Bonus
⭐ +50% DMG Bonus for the element involved in the reaction
(Lasts 6 seconds and can be refreshed continuously)

How many constellations are recommended for F2P users?
C0 is already quite solid, but the team will still need additional healing or shielding.
C1 is very good for providing strong team-wide buffs for Mono Pyro, Vape, Pyro Swirl, teams because it generates more stacks, and each Burst consumes 2 stacks → granting +150% of Durin’s ATK as bonus DMG.
C2 is excellent for empowering strong reaction-based teams (all party team get additional pyro dmg bonus)

=Pro and Cons=
Pros
- Two Burst forms make him extremely flexible
Purity (white flame dragon): Wide AoE, fast rotations, and team-supportive utility.
Darkness (Dark Dragon): High single-target damage, ideal for boss fights.
→ One character can fulfill two different roles depending on the player's needs.
- When placed in a team with other Hexerite characters, he gains additional internal buffs that further strengthen his damage.
- Multi-role: DPS, Sub-DPS/support
In Purity mode (White Flame–based dragon) he can function as a sub-DPS/support, while in Dark mode (Darkness Dragon) he serves as a main DPS, since his single-target damage is high enough for boss or elite enemy fights. Dark mode is generally recommended for Melt/Vape reaction teams because it delivers significantly higher damage. Purity mode, on the other hand, may require a strong on-field DPS who can rotate well with Durin, such as Navia, Varesa, Klee, or Kinich, and this mode excels especially in multi-target enemies.
Cons
- Durin has a significant connection to (Pyro / hexerite) synergy and Melt/Vape elements. His performance suffers without strong Pyro-reaction teammates.
- Durin does not provide any defensive utility through his Skill or Burst, so the team must allocate a slot for healing or shielding—especially when fighting aggressive bosses.

conclusion
Durin is a Pyro Sword hybrid DPS/Burst DPS who features a unique kit centered around Hexerite, Cycle of Enlightenment, and his two Burst forms — Purity (support/buffer) and Darkness (self-DPS). He can output high damage through the periodic Burst DMG of the White Flame/ Darkness dragons, strong ATK scaling, and his ability to enhance both himself and the team through internal stacks.
Durin excels in Pyro reaction teams (Vape, Melt) with two Hexerite characters, as most of his damage ramps up when reactions are triggered and when the team maintains strong Pyro uptime. However, he is heavily reliant on reaction/Pyro synergy — without consistent reactions, his damage output drops noticeably.
