[Analysis] Genshin Impact 1.6 Elemental Reaction Buff

From Nable's Guides

Intro

Genshin Impact 1.6 promised us an Elemental Mastery buff on some "major" elemental reactions. Namely Overloaded, Electro-Charged, Swirl, Shatter, Superconduct, and Crystallize.

I've heard some claims saying that the buff is "insane". But, is it really that good?

Previously, these reactions are considered underwhelming compared to the meta Melt and Vaporize. Unlike these two, the other reactions are "Transformative". This means, their damage is NOT affected by attack.

Transformative reactions solely rely on level and Elemental Mastery for its damage. And it also can't crit, even in 1.6.

Disclaimer

The numbers below are an approximation. They have not been tested by anyone else except for myself. Please use them with consideration.

The numbers in the "Before" columns are taken from Level Scaling/Reaction page in Genshin Impact Wiki.

Base Damage Adjustment

"Increases the damage caused by major reactions (i.e. Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Swirl, and Shatter), when a character reaches Level 60 or above."

Source: https://www.hoyolab.com/genshin/article/420681

I originally thought that it means they increase the base damage, but after trying it out, it appears that the base damage is actually lowered. But it does gradually increase greatly after Level 60.

But, worry not! This does not mean that the Elemental Reaction Buff is fake. It simply means at 0 EM (under Level 60), you'll deal less reaction in 1.6 than you would before. But the number easily goes up if you have EM.

Anyway, here is the approximated base damage before and after 1.6:

P.S. The top tables are approximated from in-game tests. The bottom table (83-90) is a theoretical number adjusted from the top ones and has not been tested yet.

Edit: Thank you to deadbeef for the correction!

Note: Base Reaction Damage = Base Damage x Reaction Multiplier.

E.g. Base Overload Damage (Level 1) = 12 x 2 = 24

1.6 Elemental Mastery Buff

There's a rather huge increase from Elemental Mastery Buff. Again, these numbers are approximated, so use them with consideration.

Note: 917 is the theoretical maximum EM you can get purely from artifacts ( (187 x 3) + (23 x 6 x 2) )

P.S. Error is under 1%.

1.6 Elemental Reaction Buff

Now, I'll be showing you some damage from some Elemental Mastery from some Elemental reaction.

Level 7*

**vel 80

Level 90

Note: The numbers here do not consider any damage bonus. The test is simulated on a Hilichurl.

1.6 Elemental Reaction Buff potential

After taking all these numbers, I got a little curious: How high can Overload go?

So I made a little test:

With 917 Elemental Mastery from artifacts, we can see that Overload can reach 15k damage.

Now, add 480 EM from Widsith, 200 EM from Diona C6, 125 EM from Albedo's passive 2, 50 EM from Sucrose's passive 1, and another theoretical 211 EM from Sucrose's passive 2, and 120 EM from Instructor's set, we have:

480+200+125+211+120 = 2103 Elemental Mastery

If we use Level 90 Lisa, she will have a theoretical maximum of 2199 EM.

With 4-Thundering Fury and 4-Viridescent Venerer, she can deal ~32k Overloaded damage (~15k before 1.6).

So, the maximum Transformative Reaction damage you can deal is around ~33k.

Penny for your thoughts

So, what do you think about the Elemental Reaction buff? Are you happy with it?

Do you think it's enough? Or not enough? Or perhaps, too much?
