I just want to start off by saying I hope everybody in Shanghai stays safe. This dumb global problem has been going on for 2 years too long and hopefully it'll go away one day.
On the other hand MiHoYo can take solace in knowing that at least in terms of their casual fanbase like myself having a break from all these events isn't necessarily a bad thing. I sometimes find myself looking forward to the last weeks of each patch. By then I'm done with BP and there's no more time limited events to get done. It becomes more relaxing especially since I prefer spending my time theorizing and making topics about the game.
Also this gives us f2p players some downtime to keep collecting our Dailies primos so we'll have more for Yelan when she finally releases.

But now when it comes to how Shanghai responded to this recent outbreak I mean I think hilariously enough it might have been time for them to actually take some notes from our side of the world. Yes we totally failed to contain its spread and we're back in the Denial stage of Grief right now. But there's something to be said about it.
The big issue in Shanghai is that they're under FULL lockdown like even essential workers are under lockdown. That means even supermarkets are closed and they're buying food online where it then has to get delivered to their doorstep from other parts of China. That's nuts. So over on this side of the world sure tons of people are getting sick and passing away way more than their entire country - including Hong Kong which actually beat ***** in case count and casualties. (Shanghai isn't even close to that.) But the group over here with the lowest infection rate? Overseas Asians especially overseas Chinese. And everybody on this side of the world has been going to supermarkets this entire time.
So what have they been doing that's so special? Wearing their masks, going out as little as possible and properly sanitizing themselves once they get home. (also anything they bring in from outside) That's it. In other words that old strategy from 2020 still works. And if they're getting by in disease central there's no reason why Shanghai couldn't too. Especially since they've had an effective vaccine. It really isn't the same as 2020. Also it's admirable that China still wants to try zeroing out on this bug but that's not possible when the rest of the world is still flooded with it and not even trying to deal with it anymore. ![]()

Anyway I hope Shanghai and our guys at MiHoYo get through this safe and sound. In the meantime let's do our part as fans and stay patient and civil.
