O aphorism! That's the word I was looking for in my Fischl theory. Yes Chinese has tons of aphorisms and it makes the language so much more complicated to understand for a westerner.
Basically they are these 4 word phrases that usually come from an old story and they've come to be used to define the major moral of that story. For a local example we can use "actions speak louder than words" which comes from the latin "facta non verba" but from the other examples I've seen there aren't as many set rules or even definitions for them. So it's still not a perfect translation but it's one I haven't seen before. Another aphorism is "children should be seen and not heard." Yikes. That one didn't age well. So one of the things I've learned about the Chinese ones is they can only become "aphorisms" if the morals they refer to are universal. So that children one wouldn't qualify haha. Also you can use aphorism, phrase and idiom interchangeably in English. I've seen both of my examples being called the other terms on different sites. Can't do that with the Chinese ones lol
My guess is the localization team was having trouble with this too since there's really no 1 to 1 comparison.
