You know you start off with this cute little thing about mom being a control freak so dad has to hide some of his goodies for a rainy day.
Then MiHoYo has to go and turn it into a sob story. Seriously Honkai players have been crying for years! Don't you make us cry too you horrible people you! 
They are fewer and farther in between than say Inazuma but it really humanizes the world when MiHoYo brings up realistic scenarios that could play out for anybody. This poor family had a man who was essentially a cop and one day he just doesn't get to come home. His wife is unwell herself but she tries to keep it together for their son since he's got a mental ailment. Ultimately though it's too much and she also passes away. Thankfully social worker Uncle Tian got right on it and took care of this poor kid.
You don't tend to get such detailed stories from NPCs in most games. I'm still worried about Chouji. And of course our little pirate who could. (Well at least for him he hasn't started out yet. We're probably waiting on Sumeru for more news about him.)
