But first something fun. We finally got our first albeit very very minor glimpse at Kusanali the current Dendro Archon. Many people focused on saying she looks short. I'm guessing most of them already wrote off Kusanali as the Genshin equivalent of Theresa from Honkai. I personally think she'll be a Dendro Sayu too but more because of that super kiddy voice they gave her and her potentially hikikomori personality lol
More important to me though was the outfit. You notice how light the dress is and how it drapes down from her? As far as I can tell there isn't enough specifics about the wardrobe in English but I think it might be Ilam style? (Persian Genshin players a little help?
) If it is that works very well because Ilam dress is supposedly very close to Achaemenid era dress.
Ok now for the thing that'll make some people mad. Look at these women. Notice their complexion? So I had no idea about this either. I was like most of the people I saw on the internet and thought Persia? Middle East? Tan to dark skin of course! But if you just do a Google search for Persian people most of the results you'll get are this same complexion. You know like
our delightful friend Nazafarin.
On its own I think this would have actually been an eye-opener for most of us. Seriously I think most of us on this side of the world think in a color-coded way. But there are sjw players who have been angry at MiHoYo (any developer really) for a long time for not putting enough dark skinned characters in their games. So this revelation doesn't help. Hopefully since there are still plenty of darker skinned people in the Middle East not to mention India and Egypt and since that whole region used to be Persian MiHoYo might still want to make sure to release characters that adequately represent that for Sumeru. I mean Egyptian based Cyno is already on his way so let's just hope the fact that Iran is actually mostly lighter skinned doesn't dissuade them from getting out some more tan characters. Otherwise we'll never hear the end of it from those guys.
Natlan can't come soon enough lol
