Legacy

The new version is almost here so before it arrives I think I'd like to take a jab at what we'll see.

The big one for v2.8 has to be Kazuha's Character Quest. Let me just say my theory first. I think this is a continuation of what we learned in the Irodori Festival and it will eventually tie into Inazuma's next Weekly Boss Scaramouche. Kazuha will forge the Goshintou.

The most obvious evidence for it is

We're literally seeing him forging a sword which we learned from Irodori should be the Goshintou a potentially god-killing sword. The reason I say that is because one of the ingredients that was on the blueprint Ei gave to the Gokaden was Crystal Marrow.

It's all in nonsense gibberish on the image itself but clever people on the internet figured out that this fake hiragana is actually coded for real hiragana so after deciphering it you find the second column of letters means Crystal Marrow. We know what that really is by now. It's the remains of Orobashi and also a key ingredient in the most recent Delusions the Fatui produced.

But the other important thing about this is Kazuha's purple eyes and that purple aura around him. I think either that this is the "spirit" of the unmade true Goshintou possessing him to help him complete the sword or that it's the lingering spirits of the Gokaden who were slain before they had the chance to complete the true Goshintou so they are now placing their ambitions into the only descendent left who might be capable of putting their souls to rest.

The tradition of the Goshintou started as a ceremony for the blacksmith clans. As they learned from the Shogun and improved their craft they finally made blades that even impressed her. Goshintou 御神刀 means a sword offered to the gods. Here there is another play on the twin Archons names. The offering sword is the absolute top quality product the clans could produce. That would be called the Shinuchi and the sword much like Makoto's Musou Isshin would never see combat. Other swords would become the shadow forge and these would be used and this is reflective of Ei's inferiority complex to her sister and her role as the Kagemusha.

In real life the Shinuchi is the one that gets used because it's the better sword after all haha. And that's what I think is going on here. After Scara altered the blueprint so the attempts at Ei's Goshintou all failed Scara then went on to hunt down most of the Gokaden sparing only the Amenoma and (maybe begrudgingly) the Isshin clans. It could be that the dead clans seek revenge on Scara so they hope to now forge the Shinuchi Goshintou with Kazuha so he can kill Scara.

At the same time the Japanese have Shinto which is part shamanistic so swords have a soul of their own. It could be that in this case with a god-killing sword the unmade Goshintou itself desires to be forged and take revenge for Scara messing with the plans. This really depends on whether MiHoYo wants to reflect culture or religion with this story.

Side Note: We know a little about 3 of the 5 schools in the Gokaden but we do actually know something pretty significant about the last 2. These schools are the Senju and Hyakume. Senju means the Thousand Arms and Hyakume means the Hundred Eyes. Ring a bell?

I also don't think he'll be alone. I mean we already know that Heizou will be there. I think that'll be the starting point for the quest. We'll learn that Kamaji contacted Kazuha probably to tell him about what they'd discovered about his family and the situation with the Gokaden. That's when Kazuha gets visions, dreams or hears voices drawing him towards making the blade. We'll hear this from Heizou who's worried about him and also wants to get to the bottom of the case.

But as the situation progresses I mean Kazuha will need to or will be forced to use a smithy to forge the blade. There's only one surviving smithy in Inazuma and it belongs to the last surviving clan. I think that samurai in the picture above will turn out to be Hajime. We'll all be worried about Kazuha but to resolve it the strategy is to allow the spirits to use Kazuha to forge the blade and see where it all leads. Hajime will take it upon himself as a fellow descendent of the Gokaden and help Kazuha test his new blade once he's made it.

For a while it'll feel like an evil plot but we'll hit the cutscene portion of the quest where Kazuha might even talk to the spirits and learn of the task they'll assign him aka kill Scara. I think it'll sound all pretty too like "you must vanquish the one who means to destroy this nation." (Kunikuzushi means nation destroyer) Kazuha then explains that to us and we realize that for now the Shinuchi will remain dormant until the time is right. No harm will come to Kazuha from it and now he's armed with something that'll help in the fight ahead.

So this quest will act as a bridge between what we learned from Irodori and all of the other information we learned about Scara and the future probably Archon Quest Interlude where Scara finally attacks and one of the key players will be Kazuha wielding this blade. But I'm pretty sure even if the blade could kill him what'll actually happen is it'll be used to stop a major attack by Scara, wound him so we have a chance to beat him or even get passed on to us so we use it to beat him and then the sword becomes a quest reward. It might even need to be charmed by Ei to truly be effective on Scara but that's a theory for another day.

What do you guys think? Does this seem likely?
