I have done some research into the damage bonuses as it seemed my Kokomi was a bit underperforming with the Heart of Depth set. Though I know many bonuses are secretly additive and not multiplicative, as you'd originially would expect, today I uncovered another such interaction.
I have been shooting some fish against my preferred test dummy Hilichurl and got some numbers:
As you can see, the promised 30% increase in my standard attack damage is nowhere to be found on first sight. Instead, my damage is only improved by about 15%. But I know my math and have an eye on my hydro dmg % increase. So I lowered my Hydro dmg and the 4-set piece buff shines a bit more, as it is now a 20% increase (see right part).
So I did the math below to confirm my suspision: The elemental damage bonuses and the bonus to specific attack types (here standard attacks) stack additively! (Assuming additive bonuses yields the same increase percentage as the real damage numbers)
You would think as they both are of different properties, you would first get an increase of 30% on your attack damage with the buff and than increase that amount by 90,4% due to your Hydro dmg bonus. Nope! Instead you get a 90,4% + 30 % = 120,4 % increase on your standard attack.
I assume the elemental damage bonus is a multiplier put onto the attack value, if it deals the corresponding damage type. This would also explain, how they can easily make elemental reactions not profit from elemental damage bonuses. I guess the multiplier checks any apllicable bonuses there are to the certain attack you are going to use and adds all these together.
What are your experiences with this?
