I'm really gonna miss helping these little guys.

These cute little creatures are my favourite part of Sumeru. I hated how long the quest with Rana was but the moment I started meeting the Aranara and helping them throughout Sumeru made me not regret running into Rana in the forest. It took me a bit to figure out their names and understand their purpose, but they are probably stronger and wiser than some characters in this game. They may seem like these little creatures that are terrified of humans and fire, but they can do amazing things and have cool powers.
They care a lot about the forest and each other while they love to sing and play around so it was interesting to see them go from seriously protecting the forest to having fun and making fun of Paimon the next haha. I also love the way they talk and aren't afraid to express how they feel. Aranara are very curious creatures who don't know much about human concepts so it was nice to see how differently they live from humans considering that only children can see and interact with them.
The fact that meeting Rana caused us to meet a bunch of Aranara and help them throughout Sumeru was NOT what I was expecting but I enjoyed helping them a lot and to be honest I'm gonna miss doing things with them.

Aranara Powers
Aranara get their strength from their memories so the more memories they have the stronger they and their Arakalari (Aranara powers) are. They can take on people and other Aranara memories which can make them stronger and they have very good memory and tend to not forget things. Unfortunately, when Aranara want to use stronger parts of their power they need to sacrifice parts of the memories that they have in order to do that. So in shorter terms, The more memories they have the stronger the Aranara, the stronger the power they use the more memories they will lose. And the fact that they don't care if they lose their memory and are more thankful that they became friends with others and would sacrifice it to help people really does make you care more for them.

Woodland Encounter, Vanarana

Aranara: Arana, Arama, Araja
Arana is the first Aranara we meet (Apart from the one we saw with Haypasia). It saved Iotham from the withering and put Rana in a bubble to help prevent her from getting more sick after her encounter with the withering.
Arana said that Rana is very important so it really wanted to help Rana. Arana then told us the way to Vanarana, which is where all the Aranara are, so we can get a Bija that can heal Rana. We received Arana's tune and apparently, Aranara have a tune to help identify each other and know who's arrived in Vanarana.
We reach what seems like Vanarana and play Arana's tune and meet Arama. We help Arama defeat some fungi and play Arana's tune to the 'Silapna' and get to the real Vanarana which is 'A Vanarana in Dreams'.
Arama leads us to Araja who is kinda like the 'leader' of all the Aranara. Araja tells us in order to get the Bija we need to hold a festival, called Festival Utsava, that can help accumulate energy to make a strong and healthy Bija for Rana. BUT, in order to hold the festival, we need to go gather a bunch of Aranara that are out scattered in Sumeru. And this starts our many adventures with helping out Aranara and bringing them back to Vanarana.

An Unwavering Culinary Dream

Aranara: Arapacati, Arasaka, Arachatora, Araphala, Arapas
Arama brings us to meet Arapacati and we tell Arapacati about Festival Utsava. But Arapacati tells us her brothers are out around Sumeru doing cooking training. Arapacati kicked them out of Vanarana because they were creating too much smoke and all the Aranara were all scared haha. So we go find them to return them all to Vanarana for the festival.
We first meet Arachatora who has little Starshrooms in its hat. We had to hit Arachatora with Dendro because of a bad mushroom it ate. Arachatora likes mushroom dishes and we help it find the Head Mushroom for a dish that won't make it sick. We get the mushroom and Arachatora cooks us a delicious smelling dish. But, it has no taste and has a bad texture. Arachatora gives us the recipe which we modify to our tastes and go find the next Aranara chef.
Arasaka is the second one we meet and it gets mad at us when we were about to pick the peaches it was talking to. Arasaka goes on about the "Taste of Happiness" which we later find out are just sugar cubes after embarrassingly describing what Arasaka told us to someone in Gandhara Village(I think Arasaka played with this person when he was a child). Arasaka uses the "Taste of Happiness" to cook a dish and it has no taste and has way too much sugar in it. But Arasaka was happy it was able to finish the dish and gave us the recipe which we changed for our liking.
Next, we meet Arapas who wasn't at its pot that had soup in it. PAIMON wanted to try it, but I didn't, and it was all gone because PAIMON drank it all. Arapas returns and gets mad which makes me feel bad because Arapas tells us it worked hard on that soup. We tell Arapas about Festival Utsava and it tells us to get water before we can go so we get some living spring water near some crocodiles and return to Arapas. We end up cooking the dish with Arapas' guidance and taste it together. Just like all the other dishes from the Aranara though, it has no taste but smells pretty good. We save the recipe of the dish we cooked with some seasoning of course and head off to find the last Aranara chef.
The FINAL Aranara is Araphala. We find Araphala near a cave sleeping and shoot it with Dendro to wake Araphala up. Before Araphala comes back to Vanarana for Festival Utsava it wants to complete its Culinary training with Unrivaled Fresh Fruits that come from strong trees. Araphala lets us eats the fruits and called it a dish. Araphala was thinking of it as a fruit platter apparently. After the final Aranara heads back to Vanarana to meet the others.
We go back to Arapacati and see it scolding all its brothers for splitting up after they left Vanarana. Arapacati tells them each what they did wrong while they listen with their heads down and that was an interesting sight to see. Apparently, they think of each other as brothers and sister because they care about each other and think of one another as important so they wanted to become a "family." They all thank me and hope to see us at Festival Utsava.

Varuna Gatha

Aranara: Arapandu, Aranakula, Arabalika, Arakunti
We find Arapandu in Apam Woods and it tell us we have something to do before Festival Utsava starts. Arapandu tell us about Nara Varuna (who is apparently our sibling they adventured with many years ago) and how they helped them get the sun and moon back and tells us about the Varuna Contraption. The Varuna Contraption apparently was created by an Aranara named Aramuhukunda and Greater Lord Rukkhadevata to make rain and we need to help Arapandu, Aranakula, Arabalika, and Arakunti to defeat the fungi near it and heal its roots and branches. The Aranara are too weak to defeat the fungi and can't turn the stones ("leaves") to face the rock in the center ("branches") so they need our help.
With Arapandu tellings us where to find the others we set off and find Aranakula, Arabalika, and Arakunti. We help Aranakula evade the fungi by taking a safe road around them. We find a Memory of Stone that was made for Nara Varuna and clear the spores off for Aranakula. We then heal the Varuna Contraptions roots and go find Arabalika.
Arabalika is the stronger and braver one of the other 3 Aranara involved in this quest and can defeat a ruin guard by itself! We follow Arabalika underground while defeating a bunch of ruin guards, clearing the water and defeating ruin grades on our way with Arabalika. Together we heal the roots here and part ways with Arabalika to find Arakunti.
Arakunti runs when we first meet it but we play some Aranara music to signal that we were friendly and comes out. We have a hard time communicating with Arakunti but go off and look for the roots in a dream and heal them. After we return to the rest stop where Arapandu and the other Aranara are waiting for us.
Along with the Aranara, we go to the Varunastra and drop down the center to enter underground to fully heal Varuna Contraption. We defeat all the bad guys and clear the spores from the Varuna Contraption. A powerful fungus appears and runs away and we follow it while continuously hurting it and defeating other fungi until we finally get it and defeat it fully with the help of the Aranara's using their Ararakalari. They all insult Paimon who didn't help at all and they all finally heal the Varuna Contraption. We say goodbye and hope to meet them all at Festival Ustava.

Agnihotra Sutra

Aranara: Aranakin, Aragaru, Aranaga
We run into a bunch of Eremites who seem very suspicious and we have an interesting conversation and they leave. After we run into Aranakin and they tell us that those Eremites are bad people looking for Aranara. Aranakin tells us we need to find a Zohrah Mushroom to prepare an Arahaoma (is a strong elixir) to help Mawtiyima be healthy but first, we need a Kusava which is apparently a fruit that holds Aranara memories and makes them stronger. Aranakin gives us its Kusava to help us unlock Monuments. We go on an adventure to find the Zohrah Mushroom and keep running into the suspicious Eremites. We take the mushroom after a fight with them after they got to it first and Aranakin sings us a song to show us how happy it is and we go to meet Aragaru.
Aragaru tells us we need the to do an Arahaoma ritual to stop the withering but needs a Barsam Flower to do it. Aragaru gives us its Kusava and we go explore a cave with a bunch of runes left by people. After exploring with Aragaru for a bit we enter the Realm of Khab and obtain the Barsam Flower.
After we meet Aranaga. Aranaga needs help with finding the Yajna Grass for the Arahaoma ritual and it want us to clear out the fungi in the area. We defeat a bunch of enemies and break the seals to obtain the Yajna Grass with the help of Aranaga's Kusava. We follow Aranaga to meet the others in its little garden, and Aranaga explains what we have to do and how to perform the riual.
Jamikayomars is Nara Varuna's memory cup and it is guarding Mawtiyima. Mawtiyima is infiltrated with withering so we have to infuse the Arahaoma (which contains all the plants we collected) into Jamikayomars and a path will open and we can go defeat the withering and the Aranara will help save Mawtiyima. It's kinda confusing and I don't fully understand but before we start the ritual the three Aranara give us flowers which are each of their remembrances so we won't forget them.
They start the ritual and create the Arahaoma. We give this elixir to Jamikayomars and enter Mawtiyima to fight off the withering with Aranakin, Aragaru, and Aranaga. After many battles and clearing of the withering, we succeded in saving Mawtiyima. The three Aranara thank us and express their happiness. We talk to them but they hint at us that they will end up forgetting us and all the stuff we did together. They don't tell us directly I guess as a way to not make us worry so they send us off while they stay with Mawtiyima to listen to all the stories it will tell them. They say bye and promise to meet us at Festival Ustava. I hope they actually don't forget us though (update: they do forget us :( sad).

Vimana Agama

Aranara: Araraycan
I noticed that Ararycan is the only Aranara I see that is blue while the rest are red, green, orange, and other colours relating to nature. We go on a lengthy adventure with Ararycan where we meet researcher Jazari, we meet two elders who Ararycan played with when they were kids but can't remember and also get inside a Gigantic Ruin Golem that we were able to control for a bit. On our Adventures, we find the Ruin Golems core underground, and Ararycan tells us that it is making the forest sick. We beat up all the abyss mages and an abyss herald and turn off the core and tell Araycan the good news. Ararycan thanks us for the help and returns to Vanarana for Festival Utsava.

The Rhythm that...

Aranara: Arama, Arakavi, Arayasa, Aradasa, Arasudraka
We meet back up with Arama and end up meeting Arakavi. Arakavi tells us it sent 3 Aranara to look for Ashvattha's Concourse needed to make the Bija and we are sent to go meet them, along with Arama, to find clues on where to find their exact locations.
We find Arama with Arasudraka who is a song gatherer and goes to collect different songs and tunes. We talk a bit about Venti and compare the two before we ask about Ashvattha's Concourse. We find a song left by an Aranara, Aramaha, years ago which means there is a Vasara tree that bears Vasoma fruits. We find the song and Arasudraka tells us we can use it to summon healthy Denrograna. We need Healthy Dendrograna in order to unlock the road to reach Ashvattha's Concourse. We reach a cave with Arama and clear out the Withering and go deeper until we find a Vasara Tree. We enter the trees dream and deal with the withering and enemies there and obtain the Vasoma Fruit. We say bye to Arama and promise to meet it with the other Aranara.
We meet the other song Gatherer's Arayasa and Aradasa and repeat a simliar process we did before for both Aranara we meet and encounter different songs from different Aranaras of the past. Each song helps us in a different way to find the Vasara Trees. We obtain the last two Vasoma fruits after exploring each trees dreams after defeating the Withering and Arama thanks us for helping the others find ancient songs and Ashvatta's Concourses. We say bye to Arama and hope to see it at Festival Utsava.

Festival Utsava

I helped all the Aranara with their problems and now they all returned to Vanarana for Festival Utsava. But before I meet them there Paimon and I decide to go visit Rana after a while. We end up seeing one of Arana's memories and Arana pops out of the ground to greet us. We talk about the missing children, Arana's past with Rana, and the children of Vimara Village until Arama comes to tell us the festival is ready. Arana can't join us because it needs to stay with Rana so Arana give us its flower and we return to the village with Arama.
I reunite with the Aranara I helped before and even play with a few before the festival officially starts. They all end up giving me remembrance flowers and thank me for the help and adventures we had together. It was nice to see every Aranara again before the festival starts and I'm glad I met new Aranara too. We talk to Arakavi after having some fun around Vanarana and we all gather together with all the Aranara to do a special stage. I play the special Lyre while Arakavi conducts Arayasa, Aradasa, Arasudraka to sing along with every Aranara watching. It felt nice to listen and see all the Aranara gather around to listen it made me tear up a little haha. After, Arakavi give us a bunch of flowers which I'm guessing are remembrance flowers from them all. We find Araja and Arama talking about the past and Nara Varuna and discuss our next steps to find the Bija. Arama took all the flowers we collected and turned them into a garland that can protect us from nightmares. Arama offers its house for us to rest in so we head off to sleep because we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow.

Nursery of Lost Dreams

Aranara: Arama, Arana, Aramuhukunda
This is the final chapter of our Aranara adventures. We travel with Arama to the Fane of Ashvattha to get the Bija for Rana. We find the tree and enter its dream but it is too weak to bear a Bija for Rana so we need to plant another Ashvattha tree. Arama obtained new memories and will help us plant and grow a stronger one.
We travel to the old Vanarana that was destroyed many years ago and it's infested with withering but with Arama's help we make it through and find Marana's Avator that we need to destroy in order to grow the Ashvattha tree. On the way we had many challenges. We had to obtain Inscription of Remembrances, destroy an almost unbeatable ruin guard with Arama's help, destroy the Tumor of the Withering, break and lift many seals and fight many enemies. We even met Aramuhukunda who is a legendary Aranara and it lifted the final seal to Marana's Avatar and granted Arama its memories to help us defeat the final enemy.
We follow Arama and together we defeat Marana's Avatar with Arama protecting us and using the power of all the Aranara through the Garland we deal the final blows. Arama thanks us for restoring peace and we thank Arama along with the other Aranara for giving us the strength to finish it off. Arama fetches Arana using the teleporting powers it got through Aramuhukunda. Arama tells us that it will be the seed for the new Ashvattha tree and it is thankful that we helped it heal the forest, destroy Marana's Avatar, and become the king of the forest by collecting so many memories of past Aranara. Arama is thankful that we became friends and called the memories we had with it precious before telling us a story to not let us worry about it. Before turning into a tree Arama wishes us luck and promises to create a strong Bija for Rana. BUT THE SADNESS DOESNT END THERE. Arana needs to give up all its memories in order to produce the Bija. It cherishes its memories with us and Rana but it wants to save Rana more so we play a song on our Lyre for Arama and Arana while it produces the Bija. Arana turns to look at us and doesn't even know who we are so we explain everything and tell it to come with us to see Rana.
We bring Arana with us and use the Bija on Rana. Rana wakes up and APPARENTLY RANA CAN SEE ARANA TOO. She recalls all the memories with Arana and apologizes for forgetting but Arana apologizes back because it can't remember. We tell her of all the adventures we had JUST to get her a Bija to save her and Rana is thankful we saved her and reunited her with her long-time friend. Arana and Rana decided they will make new memories together to make up for the ones lost and will go on an adventure together. AND RANA GETS A DENDRO VISION WOW WHAT A WAY TO END IT.

Thank You Arama

I didn't think an Aranara quest would make me cry. I knew I was gonna be sad when I finished their world quest but I didn't know I would CRY at the end. OVER LITTLE PLANT-LIKE CREATURES. Aranara thinks so positively and cares so much about helping others that they don't care if they have to lose something of their own. Arama deciding to become the Ashvatta Tree just so it can make a Bija for us and Arana losing all its memories to create the Bija really showcases their thoughtfulness towards others. It was fun exploring the old Vanarana with Arama and defeating the Marana's Avatar with all the Aranara's power in the garland. I might go visit Arama when I end up exploring old Vanarana too. Thank you Arama for deciding to become a tree for us so we can heal our friend.

I decided to make this little journal so I can record the Aranara adventures with my own notes so I can remember the things we did while helping out the Aranara. I have pretty bad memory and I don't want to forget helping these guys out. I can't add all the Aranara because there is quite a lot of them so I just talked about the ones that appeared in the Aranyaka world quests. I also had to find a playthrough of all the Aranara quests because I wasn't paying attention most of the time and I was zoning out a lot because of how long it was haha. I learned my lesson to not rush through long quests and to just sit back and relax and enjoy the story. But I'm glad I was able to make this so I can come back to it sometimes and read it. Maybe someone who didn't really pay attention to the story stumbles upon this and can read it to know about some of the stuff that happened while adventuring with the Aranara. Also, we don't really know which Aranara are male or female so I just used 'it' to address them and I'm sorry if it sounds weird I should've used they/them instead but I decided to follow what the game referred to them as and they called most of the Aranara 'it' at times so I just rolled with it.
Either way I'm happy I was able to get this done it took me WAY too long because I had to rewatch some parts but next time I will take my own notes if I ever make another one of these.
Thank you to whoever has read all of this and I hope everyone has a great day and remember....

If any of you want a full list of all the Aranara, please check out Merkatsu's Aranara Encyclopedia which lists them with their names and the quests they're involved in. I used their Encyclopedia to remind me of all the Aranara we met and help throughout their world quests so please check them out!
I also watched a walkthrough to remind myself of everything that happened cause I was losing focus and spacing out a lot while playing some of the Aranara quests so here's a link to the video I found by goodgamez on YouTube! They didn't skip any dialogue like other videos I saw so I'm thankful they posted this!
