Why is no one talking about how beautiful Lohen's quest was? [Article below]
His story quest was genuinely one of the most beautiful ones I've ever played. The refferences to Diluc's backstory, Varka himself apologizing for what happened, and them defeating Ursa. Then, Lohen himself- we got to know him from another point of view, and dare I say he's such a well written character. The flashbacks to the cage, keep in mind, the poor boy experienced this when he was only 10 years old. And although this wasn't directly mentioned in the quest, Lohen's father got murdered shortly before he got kidnapped by the fatui. We got to see Lohen's inner struggles- how he feels like he's not good enough, not strong enough- I have such a soft spot for those characters. We see him reflecting on his fight with Rerir and blaming himself for getting defeated so easily, despite being so strong, this eventually brough him to volunteering as a test subject for Theodore. For both power, and Adorno's life. My favourite moment in the quest was when Adorno hugged the two, the emotional weight that scene alone carried can't be put into words. And then, Lohen, all by himself, fleeing to resolve what he's done, facing the subjects (monsters) who escaped from their cages. Even when his messed up side reaches out to him, the one poisoned with the serum, promising him power, he denies, knowing that even if he DID accept, it wouldn't be his own power, but one that someone else had given him.
I do wish we got a bit more insights on his backstory, or how he became a *********/**di**, but I loved the quest otherwise. Lohen my beloved, nothing could make me hate you ♥︎
