Oath of the Blade: Prologue pt. 2(Lohen x FemReader)
You finally had your fill, fully satisfied and thought you should take a short stroll. Although with you needing to carry your stuff around the city before going home, you pondered of how much of a pain it is and decided to just drop off your stuff for now. You didn't wanna hurry back home so you'd just take short steps along the way while taking a glance of your surroundings as everything around you is now tinted in the bright orange hue of the setting sun. Nothing really beats seeing the peaceful daily routines of Mondstadters from sunrise til sunset, it's pretty much therapeutic for you. A strong gust of wind suddenly starts blowing out of nowhere, you try to hold your skirt down from blowing upwards, leaving your veil unprotected and ended up getting blown away by the wind instead. "My veil..!" You turned to the direction where the wind took your veil to and went after it. Luckily it didn't blow your veil too far from where you were and the wind managed to settle down by the time you caught up to it. You knelt down to pick up the veil from the ground but then you noticed another hand was also trying to reach down to your light-clothed headpiece. You slowly looked up and you find yourself coming face to face with a familiar pair of abyss-colored eyes. You managed to see how much he had grown as you got yourself up close to him. Your mouth slightly left agaped as you felt unprepared for this moment, not knowing what to say after all these years. ".. Well this is a pleasant surprise" His voice uttered that broke the ice-cold silence between the both of you. You managed to pick up your veil from the ground and dusted it off as you both stood up together. You immediately averted your gaze downwards while firmly holding onto your headpiece, still trying to find the right words to say. "Still not gonna talk to me, huh.." He continued, although his tone was quite lowered like a monologue to himself, you could hear him letting out a breath at the end of his sentence. "It has been a while.. Lohen..." You finally got the courage to say something but you still couldn't bring yourself to look up at him, leaving you nervous on what to say next. "H-How goes the expedition all these years?" "I- Well.." He sounded like he's trailing off from his words as he scratched the back of his head and looked to the side. "It was pretty good. Lot of monster hunting and such.. Always on our feet everyday" "I see.." It quickly became awkward for the both of you as you two stood in front of each other like strangers barely knowing each other, yet forced into a conversation with one another. "I didn't.. Think you'd actually end up becoming a nun for the Cathedral" He remarked as he tried to revert his gaze back to you, though you suspect that it's just his thoughts leaking out unintentionally. "It's.. A nice change of pace" You began to sweat as the awkwardness keep growing. As both sides lost track to keep the conversation flowing, you both could only steal glances at each other as you could feel your face slightly warming up in embarrassment. The cerulean-colored knight took out something from his person and handed you an envelope that you manged to see has Varka's written signature on it and is designated to be given to you. "Varka ordered me to pass along a letter from him.. I-I'll get going now to deliver the rest. It's nice to see you again, Y/n" He quickly rushed out of your sight after you accepted the letter from his hand, unable to form a response before he was gone. You thought of how out-of-character it was for him to act so mellow. You knew him usually to be quite so cheeky and unhinged back then. You suppose that after all these years in the expedition, he's finally toned down his personality but... You kinda missed that one certain side to him. You finally arrived home in front of your doorstep, it was only then you realized how heavy your body feels and might as well not make the trip around the city for the rest of the day. Seeing as well that you still have to read Varka's letter, you decided to stay at home to read it. Although Varka has sent you a lot of letters throughout the years during his expedition, you hardly replied to any of them. It's not that you hate him, but rather you just don't have anything to say in reply. You had the lights turned on before you put your stuff down. You dragged your feet towards the couch and dropped your whole self on the cushion as you finally let yourself breathe easy. The feeling of relaxation began to soothe your aching muscles all ober your sore body. After enjoying a moment of leisure, you quickly reminded yourself on what still gotta do and took out the unopened envelope that you had kept away in your pocket while you were walking home earlier. The envelope had no seal on it so it was easy for you to open the contents inside. You unfolded the letter and your eyes wandered to read everything from the top. [
