IT'S WELT YANG! OMG IT'S WELT YANG!!! WELT YANG, WELT YANG!!!! *the omg spiderman meme, but welt instead

After binging all of the new Edgerunners season, I really couldn't stop thinking about the character of Talia Yang, for obvious reasons 👀 (then I learnt that she may or may not be 14-16 🫣) Aaaanyway, her design seems like something that might fit really well into the ZZZ universe or at least something inspired by this. We already have characters that have prosthetics or cybernetic parts but what if we got a character that is defined by their cybernetic parts. A character that was blighted by ether and in order to save their body, their various limbs and body parts had to be surgically removed and replaced with highly advanced cybernetics to survive. I know we've had characters like Trigger that lost their sight from excessive Ether exposure, but I'm wondering what if we turned that dial to 11. I also like the idea that Talia uses a Holo projection (similar to Aria) to mimic mouth movement. I found that character design incredibly cute. I'm also not talking about an intelligent construct or a robot cyborg like Qing Yi. This character would have to have been mostly organic before their drastic transformation. Imagine Lycaon's legs, Trigger's eyes, Billy's arm canon, Aria's holo projection and Banyue's extra arms all rolled into one character. Just as a thought experiment. Maybe I'm way off base. Lemme know what you guys think 🤔

I hereby come to formally apologize to the individual named "Welt Yang" for my most recent Welt slander post (I was not familiar with his game). After careful consideration and weighting (pun unintended) of his buffs in 4.2, I realized that my slander post "What is the reason your heart still beats?" slandering Welt Yang was incorrect, and my reasons, although at the time justified, are no longer justifiable to slandering Welt Yang. All things considered, I still DON'T consider him "goated", I revoke my slander regarding how bad his kit was at the time since he is now getting buffed into the stratosphere. TLDR: I apologize for my previous slander.

He came second in my most recent poll but I decided to do Welt today as I finally finished my in-game build of him! Anaxa came first so he'll be next! There's still time to vote in the poll if you want a say in who gets the Shigenori Soejima art treatment next! Hope you like him 😊

Hi all! I haven’t seen much about this on here, but it looks like Welt Yang’s VA has been told he’s been replaced. Mr. Landis posted on Twitter yesterday that more information was to come. Honestly, I’m pretty upset and so are the rest of the HSR players/fans I’ve seen replying or talking about it. Mr. Landis is a perfect Welt. He sounds so parental and I can’t imagine hearing anyone but him on the trailblaze. That being said, it looks like some people are emailing Rocket Sound (ENG VA Company for HSR) at info@rocketsound.net, as well as emailing Mihoyo directly about their decision to do this. Overall, very very disappointed. It’s unfortunate that this has come out of the blue. From what I’ve seen Mr. Landis potentially wasn’t under contract for Welt and for awhile was unsure if he was going to keep voicing him until he got the calls to come record. Regardless, I will be emailing and I hope you guys will too if you’re disappointed!

Yeah, plenty of thought's on it that I'm not quite ready to share yet, but I'm sure I'll get round to adding to this as I arrange all my thoughts and emotions it evoked, but for now all I can really say, especially while watching it in a totally clear mindset for the first time in years... Yeah... Absolutely Beautiful piece of creative story telling. It affected me quite deeply, so much more than i expected it to - and don't we all wish in our secret hearts to find that one person we can truly say they don't just look at us, but *see* us, behind all the bullsh*t and false faces and masks we all unconsciously wear day-to-day through life - and not only truly see us, but when we (truly) see them too behind the walls we build around ourselves to keep us safe (or so we think) - We find a heart underneath that - if we were able to~ Ping their beats next to each others heartbeats - and see how well we truly rhyme with them. (Thank you Josh Ritter for being able to para-phrase that beautiful lyric) Anyone that has found that person in their lives i can truly say you're so lucky, and won't deny I envy you - because, it seems to me, that you have truly found a Heaven on Earth. Nandemonaiya, i guess... (And I honestly went intro writing this post without any idea or intention of sharing my thoughts on it right now, yet the feelings somehow find their form in words in tandem to my typing of them...

so i’ve been thinking a lot about Welt Yang and how Hoyo’s been treating him recently in HSR, and I thought I might as well make a list of reasons why he NEEDS to get some kind of character focus in the story, and soon, otherwise his character itself will continue to become COMPLETELY ruined. Reasons why Welt should get a story focus: 1. He’s canonically STUPIDLY OP. We catch glimpses of this with that one Myriad Celestia where he battles Zephyro solo, plus when he threatens Acheron and Sunday, but never anything more than that. So Hoyo refusing to use him or his powers in big/dangerous battles makes him look like a fraud (who isn’t actually that powerful) at best, and uncaring or neglectful at worst (since he HAS all this power and is refusing to use it when the others are in danger.) 2. From a HSR-only perspective, we know basically nothing about him. Obviously the vast majority of his lore is in Hi3rd, but other than a few minor details such as him being a father and an animator, there’s very very little to be found about who he actually IS in Honkai: Star Rail. Which is fine for a character as major as he is so long as there is a planned story-focus on them (like what they did with Himeko and even sort of March), but so far he’s gotten NOTHING. It’s ridiculous to me that you have to look into a whole other game to learn ANYTHING about him, such as why he became Welt, who does he consider family, that he ran a secret organization, etc. ALL of this is really key information to understanding Welt’s history and character, but close to none of it is available in HSR. 3. There’s WAY too much potential to NOT use him. Seriously. Even if the story focus is just about his backstory, there’s so much that he explicitly HASN’T told the Express crew (or at least the Trailblazer) that feels incredibly relevant to both his character and the story at large. Remember, he tells the Trailblazer that he doesn’t have an interesting past, that he was simply an animator. Which is, of course, a blatant lie. They don’t know that he’s died several times, and could return from death again now if he had to. They don’t know that he was raised by genius scientists who revolutionized space and mech technology (two things that are very important to HSR.) They don’t even know his true name!!! And Hoyo’s just. Not going to do anything with that? (Part 1/2)
