How many bees would fill a 2 story house?
Shadow I couldn’t fit all this into a comment so you get your very own post about me figuring this out❤️🩹 the average bumblebee is around 1.5 - 2.5 cm, and one inch = 2.54 cm. Since 2.5 is closer to an inch than 1.5, we can say that one bee = one inch. Theres 12 inches in one ft, so 12 bees = one foot of bees, and 12 inches squared is 144 squared inches. So there’s 144 bees in 1 square ft. Okay, so let’s take my house for example, which is 1600 sq ft. If we want a 2 story house, we multiply that number by 2, which equals 3200. Since we figured out that one bee = 1 inch = 12 bees = 1 ft = 12 inch sq = 144, we can multiply 144 sq ft by 3200 sq ft and that will give us 460,800, which is how many bees we can fit into a 2 story house. If the house had an attic, though, we would need to find out the width and height of that. A house with a square footage of 1600 would have an attic of 1600 ft in length and approximately 7 ft in height. To find the area of the attic, we need to use the formula for finding a triangle, which is Width x Height divided by 2. So 1600 x 7 / 2 = 5,600. Multiply that by 3200 and we get 17,920,000, which is approximately how many bees would fill a 2 story house with an attic.
