My Sentiments Exactly

In the latest round of toxicity in our community we have the global launch of the KFC glider. Now instead of a KFC collab like they had in China MiHoYo decided to do a Twitch collab instead.

And this of course met with a bunch of the same whining how it's not fair for whatever reasons.

But this time MiHoYo is not in the wrong at all. In fact I'd say they did us a solid with how they're running this and I'm pretty happy with their decision. (Keep in mind I'm a f2p casual content creator so their decision means I can't get the glider.)

And so is fellow content creator TenTen who brought up a few more points than I had thought of. For 1 he brought up how this wouldn't be the only time a KFC collab was turned into a Twitch collab. I love his example because it just shows the haters in this community don't think before they whine. During the anniversary issue a few players used Final Fantasy XIV to defend their position that the anniversary was done poorly. The argument was flawed even if the anniversary was actually done poorly. But this time it turns out Square Enix ALSO did a KFC in China Twitch for Global collab and even charged more for the Global deal with Twitch than MiHoYo's doing for Genshin. And their fans were supportive of it.

Now what TenTen doesn't point out is what I'm about to. I think it's pretty safe to say the reason the Final Fantasy fans didn't react so poorly is because I don't think global fans even knew about the KFC deal in China. So for MiHoYo's transparency on how they do things they get hit with haters. Funny how that works out. (read: double standards)

Another thing TenTen pointed out was that some players whined that they'd rather pay the $10 upfront instead of supporting small time Twitch streamers. And isn't that just sad? I support this decision by MiHoYo because they chose to give back to their players like this. It's 2021 guys. We've already alienated plenty of groups in the last couple years causing violence and chaos across the world. Is that how we want things to be? That we'd rather spend the cold cash when we could have used it to both get what we want and help someone else out?

And now a final note: I hope the haters weren't thinking about using Chinese players to justify themselves again.

By my buddy's translation Chinese players are also calling out global players as whiners. (also as freeloaders because there are some demanding that the glider be free)

I know nothing I'm saying here will get a veteran hater to change their ways. But I hope it'll get through to us regular players. Let's not let these guys ruin our gaming experience.
