Recently we've gotten a ton of primos from MiHoYo thanks to their celebrating the awards they've won. As of the most recent tally their win isn't hard to see. 53 million! Geez!
I'm sorry did I say 53 million? What I meant to say was-
Props to you MiHoYo. Over a year later still drawing in millions more to play. But it does speak to the quality of this game. Hopefully Star Rail and that future shooter will be able to continue this legacy.
But you know all this begs the question whatever happened to the guys saying "this game is done. I'm totally quitting." Well
most of them aren't playing the other games. Final Fantasy XIV was one of those games these guys compared over Genshin saying it was so much better.
At 11 years old (8 if we only count Realm Reborn onwards) it's at 35 million with only 10% of those playing daily. And that's the runner up. Other games like Destiny 2 which was also lauded over Genshin once upon a time trails even further.
In reality there was only 1 time in Genshin's lifetime where it lost players and that was back during the Zhongli issue last year.
And you guys can see the game more than made up for it the following month. So much for players quitting. Actually according to the underlined line of this report most of the "quitters" come back online every time a new banner arrives meaning the only thing they're hurting is their own progress.
Then there was the crowd that said MiHoYo caters to their home team because that's where most of the money is coming from.
Yeah no. While it is the single biggest chunk of their playerbase the combined markets of Japan and the US are no slouches and neither is our spending. The US is closing the gap on dollars spent on Genshin and Japan's already dethroned the Chinese players.
In all honesty Genshin and MiHoYo itself have plenty of flaws. (Mostly not what these guys keeping pointing fingers at though.) But at the end of the day even with the flaws the game is just good.
If my maths is correct the new Lantern Rite should be happening at the end of v2.4 and MiHoYo seems to have planned it perfectly with likely the double rerun of Ganyu and Xiao of the adepti along with newcomers Shenhe also an adeptus and Yunjin who runs the teahouse. (Please let Xinyan perform! [emoji]) So let's see what other goodies will be coming down the pipeline for us!
