Quest Summary:
In the previous quest, we successfully cleansed five barriers and the monsters within. It’s time to head back to Konda Village and report to Hanachirusato by the Thunder Sakura Bough.
Quest Steps:
1. Report back to Hanachirusato
Teleport to the Konda Village waypoint and head to the door by the beach. Enter the well, summon the Electrogranum, and speak to Hanachirusato.
(This entrance becomes accessible after completing the quest in Part I [A Strange Story in Konda]. Travelers who can’t access the location this way can enter from the well behind the Konda Village chief’s house.)
From the dialogue we learn that the most important step of the “Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual” is the last step, which is breaking the barrier of the Sacred Sakura, and purifying the miasma that has accumulated in its roots over the years.
2. Head to the opening at Mt. Yougou: The Depths
Following the quest navigation, we teleport to the Grand Narukami Shrine waypoint then glide down (from either the north or south side) to the opening halfway down to find Hanachirusato.
After speaking to her, Hanachirusato will remove the seal beneath and asks us to enter deep within to perform the cleansing.
3. Jump in
Attention: Friendly tip to dear Travelers - the area below has high Electro concentration and will continuously reduce HP. Even though you can negate the damage by summoning the Electrogranum around, keep in mind that you still have to fight the [Miasmic Tumor]. Because of this, it’s strongly recommended to bring a healing character to keep your party going.
Once you’re all set, jump into the depths.
4. Defeat “Miasmic Tumor”
Once at the bottom of the chasm, a giant spherical “Miasmic Tumor” emerges (needs to be suppressed through puzzle). “Ochimusha” also appears beneath the Tumor, who we’ll need to defeat.
After defeating the enemy, a diagram will appear in the middle of the arena. We’ll perform the same actions as before and adjust the lanterns until we solve the puzzle, which would suppress the Tumor. This time we’ll need to complete three different connection puzzles.
Once the Ochimusha is defeated, the puzzle diagram will appear, which corresponds to 5 lantern locations.
Mechanism Explanation: First, determine the starting location, followed by observing the locations of the remaining lanterns. Follow the hint in the diagram and determine the correct number of magatamas to adjust to. The difference in the number of orbs between the working lantern and the starting lantern represents the number of magatamas needed at the working lantern.
For the first puzzle, we mark the northern most lantern as #1, then mark the rest in a clockwise order. The numbering in the picture guides below will not change.

For the second puzzle, the numbering and locations of the lanterns stay the same.

5. Speak to Hanachirusato
After we complete the cleansing, speak to Hanachirusato again to learn her true identity - filth condensed from the memory of “Kitsune Saiguu”.
Her duty is to find heroes who would complete the cleansing of filth. Now that the filth has been cleansed, it’s time for us to bid farewell to her as well......
6. Quest complete
Pick up the mask on the ground to complete the entire quest of the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual and unlock the achievement “Spring Cleaning”. (You’ll obtain the forging recipe for the 4-Star Catalyst “Hakushin Ring” after consuming the item “Mask of Memories”.)
7. Follow-up Quest
Speak to the witch Inagi Hotomi at Grand Narukami Shrine after completing the quest. Pick the [About the Cleansing Ritual...] option then select [Could you tell me about Hanachirusato...] option to obtain the Serenitea Pot furnishing “A Mask”.
Summary:
There aren’t any new puzzle mechanic in this quest, and there aren’t heavy traveling involved. This makes the total completion time at around 25 minutes.
