Last time I talked about something that was annoying me about Kusanali. Even earlier I came up with a super early prediction about what might happen in Sumeru.
Now if we assume that Kusanali idea is true then the reason she's allowing folly could be related. We know she's been on the job for the least amount of time compared to all the other Archons. It should still be a fairly significant amount of time by human standards but if civilizations remain unchanged since the Cataclysm it stands to reason that traditions could persist.
So it could be that the system the God of the Woods had in place is still being upheld by the sages and its their will that allows the scholars to geek out.
If that's the case maybe part of the Archon Quest will be inserting ourselves into the politics through Cyno to cause controversy which will set the scholars straight. Mostly I'd think that would play out on two fronts with the goal being to oust the Fatui. So we'd be helping Cyno within the leadership while operating with Collei in a resistance faction to undermine Dottore's operations and expose their inhumanity.
Removing the Fatui could trigger a shift in priorities for Sumeru and change the power balance from the sages under the former Dendro Archon to Kusanali. In a flip of what happened in Inazuma we'd be dealing with an Archon that has little to no power in her region and helping to put her into power. It's similar to how the story worked before where we moved from Mondstadt to Liyue - a region where the Archon was MIA to one where the people lived their lives by the Archon's guidance. And then from Liyue to Inazuma where we went from an Archon willingly giving up his position to let the people choose their own path to an Archon who strong-armed her people from choosing their own path.
So which version of Kusanali would you prefer? Conniving and working behind the scenes for her own ends? Or powerless and struggling to set her nation on the right path?
