Hello captains! Excelsior07 is here and in this article, I would like to do a review about the new S-rank valkyrie in version 6.9. She was known as one of the iconic villains in the main story of Honkai Impact 3 and I guess most of captains have been wishing her to be a playable valkyrie for who knows how long. Although it seemed impossible at first since the character already died a long time ago, Hoyoverse managed to bring the alternate version of the character and now here we are, getting her as a playable valkyrie. I think captains already know who she is, right? Without further ado, please welcome the new valkyrie in version 6.9, Sirin!

INTRODUCTION
“Now is the time for Magic Girl.”

Sirin's character illustration
Sirin, also known as her battlesuit name, Miracle ☆ Magical Girl, is S-rank MECH-type valkyrie. She is a chakram user and acts as DPS valkyrie that deals Fire DMG. In addition, Sirin has the ability to inflict Ignite, increase Ignite stacks, and deal Ignite DMG from some of her attacks, making her the first Ignite DPS in the game. Being a MECH-type Ignite DPS means Sirin is projected to replace Spina Astera who has the same battlesuit type and element like Sirin.
Lore wise, this playable version of Sirin isn’t the Herrscher Sirin that we know from the main story. Instead, she is a magical girl coming from a bubble universe that is a part of Captainverse event series. Sirin made her first appearance in the event story of version 6.6, TeRiRi’s Magical Quest.

GAMEPLAY MECHANICS
Although Sirin is a chakram user, she turns her chakram into scissors in the battle. Pretty much the same like ELF Sirin since both of them wield scissors, deal Fire DMG, and can inflict Ignite. When Sirin enters the field, she gains 2 stacks of Magic Girl Channel. Each stack of Magic Girl Channel increases Ignite stacks by 1 and allows the Ignite to deal additional ATK of Fire DMG, up to 9 stacks of Magic Girl Channel. Upon exit or ultimate, clears all stacks of Magic Girl Channel.

Sirin is able to increase Ignite stacks
Sirin’s basic ATK consists of 4 sequences, during which she attacks the enemies with her scissors. Both 3rd and 4th sequences of basic ATK inflict 3 Ignite Trauma. When 4th sequence of basic ATK hits ignited enemies, deal additional ATK of Fire DMG that counts as Ignite DMG. Hitting the enemies with basic ATK restores Sirin’s kinetic, Starry Faith, which caps at 600.

Basic ATK

Starry Faith kinetic bar
If there is at least 300 Starry Faith equal to half a bar, hold ATK b-utton to cast charged ATK. While charging, continuously consume Starry Faith kinetic to deal continuous ATK of Fire DMG and, at S2-rank, additional DMG that counts as HP loss effect. At the same time, Sirin gathers the enemies, heals team’s HP, gains Magic Girl Channel stacks every 0.5s (up to 4 stacks), and inflict 2 Ignite Trauma every 0.5s. Consume 300 Starry Faith to cast 1st sequence of charged ATK and recover 5 SP on hit. Meanwhile, consume 600 Starry Faith (full bar) to cast 2nd sequence of charged ATK and recover 10 SP on hit instead. Successfully casting charged ATK clears all Starry Faith. It means even though Sirin has full Starry Faith, if she only consumes half a bar to cast 1st sequence of charged ATK, the remaining Starry Faith will be removed after a successful charged ATK. Exiting the field also clears Starry Faith.

Consume half a bar to cast 1st sequence of charged ATK

Consume full bar to cast 2nd sequence of charged ATK
As a chakram user, Sirin has her own unique weapon active skill that is different from other chakram users. When Sirin does certain attacks, she can cast different active skill. Create Magic Sigil by tapping active skill b-utton or casting 4th sequence of basic ATK. After performing said attacks, tap active skill to cast Cut, during which Sirin detonates Magic Sigil to recover 10 SP. When Sirin succesfully casts 2nd sequence of charged ATK, tap active skill b-utton afterward to cast Join. Cut inflicts 5 Ignite Trauma, while Join inflicts 8 Ignite Trauma. DMG caused by both Cut and Join count as Ignite DMG.

Sirin can also cast Cut after 4th sequence of basic ATK
When ultimate evasion skill isn’t in CD, evading an attack will trigger Sirin’s ultimate evasion skill. It triggers Time Fracture and restores Starry Faith. Shortly after triggering ultimate evasion skill, tap ATK b-utton to launch counterattack which can be connected to 3rd sequence of basic ATK.

Sirin’s QTE can be triggered by Time Slow or Ignite. When Sirin enters the field by QTE, trigger Time Fracture, inflict 3.5 Ignite Trauma, and make the enemies take more Ignite DMG. In addition, she recovers 10 SP as well as Starry Faith.

The example of triggering Sirin's QTE by Ignite
When Sirin has 100 SP, she can cast her ultimate. Sirin will trap the enemies inside the magic mirror then she uses her scissors to cut the mirror along with the enemies inside. During ultimate animation, trigger Time-frozen Domain to stop all timers. Every Ignite stack makes Sirin’s ultimate deal additional ATK of Fire DMG (max 15 stacks) and reset Ignite stack back to 1 after casting ultimate. Furthermore, at S1-rank, DMG caused by Sirin’s ultimate counts as Ignite DMG.

EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION

Sirin's signature weapon, Dream Cutter

PRI-ARM form of Sirin's signature weapon, Dream Cutter: Polar Star
Sirin’s signature weapon is the chakram type weapon named Dream Cutter. It has a PRI-ARM named Dream Cutter: Polar Star. The weapon provides Fire DMG and Ignite DMG buffs as well as SP recovery for her. When Sirin wields the weapon, she gets additional Ignite stacks, which in turn increases her ultimate DMG. The weapon also allows Sirin to deal additional attack after casting special active skills Cut and Join.
Captains can read my article about Sirin's signature weapon here:

Sirin's signature stigmata, Little Joys set
Sirin’s signature stigmata set is Little Joys set. The stigmata set depicts Sirin’s treasured friends, the magical girls TeRiRi, Broboli, and Vollerei. Little Joys set provides Total DMG, Fire DMG, and Ignite DMG buffs (also further increase her active skill Fire DMG and Ignite DMG) as well as allowing her to inflict extra Ignite Trauma and makes the enemies take more both Total DMG and Fire DMG from her attacks.

LINEUP RECOMMENDATION

Herrscher of Truth and Chrono Navi are the recommended supports for Sirin

Lineup example
As Ignite DPS, Sirin needs Herrscher of Truth and Ai Hyperion Λ (Chrono Navi) as her supports. HoTr is the core support for both Fire and Lightning teams, which means she is also important for Sirin’s team. She provides DMG buffs and SP recovery for the team as well as able to inflict Elemental Breach. Meanwhile, Ai-chan acts as the ignite specialist to continuously ignite the enemies. She also provides DMG buffs and SP recovery for the team. Since Sirin can deal Ignite DMG, she benefits from one of the 3-pieces effect of Idol Transformation set that makes the enemies take more Ignite DMG.

ABYSS COVERAGE

Sirin's Abyss coverage
Sirin will cover the bosses that were once covered by SpA such as Argent Knight: Artemis (in version 6.9, AKA also becomes SSS boss in Memorial Arena) and Type Counter Andrius. In addition, Sirin will be the top pick to fight the other bosses on Ignite weather such as Benares and two new bosses in version 6.9, Herrscher of Ice and Herrscher of the Void.

HOW TO GET
Captains can obtain Sirin by two methods: farming and gacha. In version 6.9, Sirin’s character card and fragment can be bought in War Treasury using Ancient Willpower and Ancient Legacy. Sirin’s card is sold with discounted price for 3 versions (until version 7.1). It costs 480 Ancient Willpower and 480 Ancient Legacy. After the discount expires, Sirin’s card will cost 640 Ancient Willpower and 640 Ancient Legacy instead. Meanwhile, Sirin’s fragment can be bought up to 4 fragments per week when she is below SS-rank. After Sirin reaches SS-rank, the weekly limit is increased by 2 fragments. One Sirin’s fragment costs 8 Ancient Willpower and 8 Ancient Legacy. If captains want to unlock and rank up Sirin faster, she is also available to pull in expansion supply. One pull costs 280 crystals and captains are guaranteed to get Sirin within 100 pulls.

Additionally, Sirin’s signature stigmata, Little Joys set, is farmable as G4 stigmata and can be obtained by transmuting Leeuwenhoek in Foundry. One Little Joys piece costs one Leeuwenhoek piece, 140 Pure Red Crystalyte, 200 Spatial Convectron, and 1100 Ether Fuel. With the arrival of Little Joys set in version 6.9, Leeuwenhoek can now be directly crafted without transmuting from Thales. To directly craft one Leeuwenhoek piece, captains have to prepare 200 Chasmic Red Crystalyte, 150 Spatial Convectron, and 1800 Ether Fuel.

The option to directly craft Leeuwenhoek is now available
Little Joys set will also be available in special equipment supply along with Sirin’s signature weapon, Dream Cutter. One pull costs 280 crystals and Dream Cutter is guaranteed within 50 pulls. Wishing Well is available. Once captains have obtained Dream Cutter, captains can craft its PRI-ARM form, Dream Cutter: Polar Star in Foundry.

CONCLUSION

Stand back, I'm about to Magic Girl!
Sirin can be considered as the Fire counterpart of Susannah (Valkyrie Quicksand) since they are the first ailment DPS of their respective elements (and funnily enough both of them are chakram users). Though, not all of Sirin’s attacks count as Ignite DMG, unlike Susannah who deals Bleed DMG from all of her attacks. But it still doesn’t change the fact that Sirin has all the traits that make her an Ignite DPS.
With Sirin’s battlesuit typing and her role as Ignite DPS, it’s obvious that Sirin will easily kick SpA out of meta. Poor SpA, gone before she get any chance to shine. But on the other hand, I feel like the decision to make Sirin a MECH valkyrie instead of BIO is kind of weird. I mean, Dea Anchora is so ancient that Hoyoverse should replace her first instead of SpA. But it seems that Hoyoverse want to prolong DA’s lifespan until her replacement arrives, which shouldn’t take a long time. Being a MECH-type valkyrie means Sirin can’t cover Parvati because even though Parvati is one of the bosses on Ignite weather, its type is PSY which means Sirin is countered by Parvati. But putting aside Parvati, Sirin will excel on fighting the other Ignite bosses and also become a new option to fight Type Counter Andrius.
Although Sirin is kind of usable at S0, as a farmable valkyrie, she definitely needs higher rank to be a stronger Ignite DPS. I can say that S1-rank’s skill has the missing piece that makes Sirin a true Ignite DPS, where Sirin’s ultimate DMG counts as Ignite DMG. With that skill, her ultimate will benefit from any Ignite DMG buff and deal much higher DMG. S1 seems not that far, but remember that captains can only buy up to 4 fragments per week if Sirin is below SS-rank, which means it will take 7 weeks for captains to rank Sirin up to S1. This is the only thing that I don’t like from every new War Treasury valkyrie. I think Hoyoverse should stop making the additional 2 fragments locked behind SS-rank and just make it 6 fragments per week (or 8 like in Fallen Rosemary and Miss Pink Elf cases) without any rank restriction.
Since both Sirin and Little Joys set are farmable, captains only need to pull her weapon. During her debut, Sirin’s weapon will only cost 14k crystals at most, could be less if captains are lucky. Also, captains might have the chance to get one or two pieces of Little Joys set while pulling Sirin’s weapon. Such an offer will never come back and by the time Sirin’s equipment get its rerun, it will be on the usual focused supply with the 50 pulls guarantee for each piece, making it much harder to get Sirin’s weapon if captains skip it on debut. Therefore, if captains want to properly play Sirin, then make sure captains don’t miss her weapon!

Save the best for the last, Sirin's winning pose
Okay captains, we’ve reached the end of my review about Sirin. Hopefully my article could make captains better understand about the new valkyrie and captains can decide whether captains should pull her weapon or not. Yup, no need to pull Sirin and her stigmata set since they are farmable. I do apologize if there is any information that I missed to include here. Have fun farming Sirin and her stigmata, and good luck to every captains who want to pull her signature weapon! Excelsior07 is out and have a nice day, captains!
