[Part 4] Fontaine Archon Quest Chapter IV: Act V: Masquerade of the Guilty - Apocalypse

[FONTAINE ARCHON QUEST SPOILERS]

[Part 1] [Part 2] [<] [NEXT Quest>>] [Part 6]

We arrived at Poisson, Furina was there indeed, and she was crying already, but when we revealed our presence, she suddenly changed her tone and... did she actually tell us to kneel down and beg her for forgiveness?

She's... such a liar, why she's like that?

Some people noticed her, she just told us they are her fans and she ran away. We run after her and hid from others in one of the houses. Then there was an earthquake, just like before. Then she started talking that she was doing everything she could to stop the prophecy, then she said we can't make an enemy of the divine... so that's what was the quote in the story trailer all about. Heavenly Principles will find a way to fulfill the prophecy.

We offered her we can be her 'witness', she realized we are traveler from the stars, so we are not from this world, and we are indeed spectators if Teyvat is a show on a stage - THEATRUM MUNDI!

Just a moment before Furina was about to confess, everything started shaking and... we appeared on a stage in the Opera. Turned out it was all Lyney's performance opening trick.

Furina was kinda surprised she is accused and spoke something that sounded like a refuse. Then Neuvi offered her a duel with Clorinde. Furina was surprised, but... she surrendered just like that.

The audience was surprised and didn't know what is going on, so Furina explained that she is agreeing for a trial to show the world the TRUE meaning of justice.

With those words, she began the trial of the Hydro Archon Focalors.

Furina asked who is her opponent, and Traveler stood up and the trial began.

Furina asked 1st question about our effort to bring her to the stage. Navia then explained that people who were making riots this day were her subordinates. The house was the magic box, and Fatui helped to create a tunnel to the opera. Meanwhile, Neuvi gathered people and Clorinde was ready for duel, everything to make all of it as fast as possible. Furina then guessed the Traveler was to distract her, but the Traveler refused. Traveler stated that the mission was to gave her a second chance. After the analysis, everyone done their part of the trap as they said earlier in the quest.

Next, we received a completed timeline of our Fontaine journey from Charlotte.

  • Became Lyney's attorney - reminds us about Lyney's trial when they were cleared of the accusation, but their identity was revealed.
  • The truth behind the "serial disappearances of young women" case - reminds us about solving the case where we get to know that people of Fontaine can dissolve and Vacher was dissolving women to find a way to bring his dissolved wife back.
  • Childe's conviction - reminds us about innocent Childe who was convicted guilty and even Furina didn't know why.
  • The meeting with The Knave - reminds us about our meeting with the Knave when she told us that Furina might not be the Archon and might be affected by some curse.
  • The intrusion of the Primordial Sea into the Fortress of Meropide - reminds us about the sealing of the Primordial Sea under the Fortress.
  • The whale in the dream - reminds us about our vision of Childe floating in the sea with a giant whale.
  • Navia falling into the seawater - reminds us about Navia who felt into the Primordial Sea and didn't dissolve because her dead friends helped her.
  • Teatime with "N" - reminds us about the meeting with N who stated that prophecy will come true.

To sum up, Childe's verdict is still a mystery, Furina might not be the Archon, and she has a curse, there is a giant whale, people may not get dissolved cuz "friendship is magic" and the prophecy will come true.

Then the trial begin. Furina wanted to ask for what is her guilt. So Traveler spoke that her guilt is not related to her role as an Archon, but about the fraud that she's not the real Archon at all. Audience was moved. Neuvi accepted the charges and asked Furina if she's plead guilty, and she pled not guilty.

To be fair, she repeated she's an Archon so many times that her lies (if it's a lie) become the truth.

Furina offered that if we drop the charges, she will not accuse us of false accusations and that she will treat it all as a spectacle.

She asked why do we think she's not an Archon and how she was able to live 500 years. At that moment, everything make sense for me. The curse I didn't understand might be the same as Khaenri'ahn one. That's why. She might be Khaenri'ahn, am I right?

Choose "The meeting with The Knave" as a 1st evidence.

Paimon speculated that she is another species, or she is cursed. Furina stated that Harbinger words are meaningless. Even Neuvi now noticed that what he senses from her was not divinity but the curse. She also said something about the Oratrice, so we took a look into the evidences to show her she doesn't know about the Oratrice.

Choose "Childe's conviction" as a 2nd evidence.

Paimon stated she was as surprise as everyone when Childe was pled guilty with no evidence. She tried to defend herself with such a not substantive argument like: human can't comprehend decision of the gods. Neuvi pressed her not to avoid questions. We then stated she doesn't know why Childe was declared guilty, and she doesn't know how Oratrice operates.

Neuvi asked her to use her power as an Archon, it should be similar to people who use the Vision. Anyway, for the entire Archon quest, we haven't even saw her using the power of Hydro at all. She avoided it, saying her power was converted into Indemnitium.

Next she stated that if she's not the Hydro Archon then who is? We decided not to prove she's an Archon, but that she is a human.

Choose "The truth behind the "serial disappearances of young women" case" as a 3rd evidence.

Since all people of Fontaine can dissolve into the waters, we can give her a chance to touch it and see if she's going to dissolve.

Navia brought some and asked her to touch it. Furina was prolonging the moment she will put her hand into the water, but suddenly she did it, and she was extremely stressed with it. Sige came and examined Furina then she announced the results that she behave just in the same way and showed the same symptoms as normal human would present when exposed to that concentration of Primordial seawater, thus proving she's a human.

Furina was swearing with the tears in her eyes she is an Archon, but no one even looked at her, NO ONE.

The screen got glitched and showed a scene where everyone tuned back on Furina, and she was pled guilty by Neuvi.

Furina sat, indeed weeping, alone on her throne. Neuvi turned to the Oratrice for the final verdict.

She was pled guilty but also to be punished via... death sentence... i... i... I can't continue... This isn't happening...

Wait... that's not the sentence for Furina but for the Hydro Archon directly... WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!?

Suddenly, Freminet showed up and showed the 1st prophecy slate. It shows the previous Hydro Archon turning Oceanids into humans. Now our job is to make sense of all of it.

Prophecy Slate (I) shows creation of the humans from the Oceanids. Which means this process can be reversed.

Prophecy Slate (II) shows Hydro Archon and her people worshiping Celestia, but Celestia is not proud of it. This is the moment people and the Hydro Archon were marked with the original sin.

Prophecy Slate (III) shows how Hydro Archon sinks into the sea surrounded by many people.

Prophecy Slate (IV) shows the prophecy, dissolved people and Hydro Archon alone on her throne crying.

  • Verify truth at Slate I with "The truth behind the "serial disappearances of young women" case"
  • Verify truth at Slate II with "The announcement of the Hydro Archon's death sentence"
  • Verify truth at Slate III with "Navia falling into the seawater"
  • Verify truth at Slate IV with "The intrusion of the Primordial Sea into the Fortress of Meropide"

This way, Paimon proved the content of the prophecy can be verified by recent events.

To sum up, Egeria created humans from Oceanids and brought the wrath of Celestia since she created a new life without permission. That marked her and her people as sinners, and the Oratrice turned against the Hydro Archon to judge her herself.

Neuvi found another layer of power within those slates.

Turned out, Oceanids saw how people were living and they wanted a similar life. Hydro Archon had no authority in creating life, so she poured Primordial Seawater into Oceanid's blood vessels, creating humanoid mimics. However, when they touch Primordial Seawater, the power escapes their bodies and turns them again into the Oceanids.

People found it hard to believe.

There is also no mistake in order of stone slates. Turned out that the 3rd slate shows not Oceanids, but humans and the water symbolizes justice and judgement - it says people of Fontaine will judge the Hydro Archon.

Navia and Clorinde were afraid that they judged to avoid fulfilling the prophecy, yet they did just as prophecy said, and they are prisoners of fate.

Neuvi noticed some misunderstanding in our thinking about 4th slate, stating that it was indicating something far worse, something we encountered already. Is he talking about cataclysm at Khaenri'ah?

  • Verify truth at Slate IV with "The whale in the dream".

Then everything at the opera started to shake, and the giant whale showed up. Neuvi tried to fight him, but he couldn't defeat it alone. Suddenly, Childe showed up in his Foul Legacy form and helped. When they defeated the whale for a while, Childe looked at Neuvi and exhausted felt into the pit after the whale.

For a moment I was wondering why they actually placed that whale in that quest, it's so random... but it was not from this world and was taking his energy from the Primordial Sea. When it ended, it showed up at an opera house full of Fontainians who has Primordial Sea in their blood. Feels a little like Tirek from MLP s4.

Neuvi stated it is too late to fight that whale cuz it's too powerful and is practically integrated with the Primordial Sea.

Traveler reminded the words of N, the prophecy will be fulfilled but not where god's gaze does not fall, which means we are going to the Abyss to fight the whale?

Then the Oratrice started working and prepared itself for the death sentence. Traveler jumped to the Furina cuz there was not enough answers from her. When he came into contact with her tear, we entered the realm of her consciousness. In the same time Neuvi with the Oratrice entered the realm where he met... a character similar to Furina but in the other suit standing under the sword-guillotine-like thing.
