This guide will aid those struggling to understand the new Natlan mechanics, specifically the Nightsoul Blessing & related mechanics.

New Natlan Mechanics
Nightsoul's Blessing
A new feature introduced in Version 5.0, unique to Natlan characters.
Through Nightsoul's Blessing state, Natlan characters are able to trigger effects such as increased mobility and/or increased combat ability. These gauges use resources called "Nightsoul points" for consumption.
Characters will deal Nightsoul-aligned damage through their Skills while in this state.
To put it in simpler terms, you can think of the Nightsoul's Blessing gauge as the Skill's remaining duration in Kachina's and Mualani's case. In Kinich's case, you can think of it as a gauge to build up for to shoot devastating attacks.

Nightsoul Transmission
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, Natlan characters can use Nightsoul Transmission. When the active character is currently sprinting, in a movement mode caused by certain talents, or at a certain height in the air, you can switch to a Natlan character to trigger their Nightsoul Transmission effects. Their names on your party list will glow up when they're available for use.

These Nightsoul Transmission effects are related to the abilities each Natlan characters have, and some characters may enable their Nightsoul Transmission when in certain other movements, such as climbing (Kachina) or swimming (Mualani).

Nightsoul Burst

Nightsoul Burst effect
Not to be confused with Elemental Burst.
When a party has at least 1 Natlan character, any character in the party (regardless of location) can trigger Nightsoul Burst by dealing Elemental DMG to an enemy. Nightsoul Burst will trigger different effects for Natlan characters' Talent and/or Artifact effects. These effects can range from buffing own stats to increasing damage dealt.

Nightsoul Burst related Passive Talents
Take for example, Kachina and Mualani:
In Kachina's case, she will gain a 20% Geo DMG Bonus buff after triggering Nightsoul Burst.
In Mualani's case, her Burst's damage will increase based on the number of times you trigger Nightsoul Burst.
The cooldown for Nightsoul Burst will decrease depending on number of Natlan characters in party.
1 Natlan character = 18s
2 Natlan character = 12s
3 Natlan character = 9s

Phlogiston

Phlogiston Gauge above character's HP
A gauge that only appears when you're in Natlan, Phlogiston allows you to extend the durations of Nightsoul's Blessing abilities and abilities related to Natlan's Saurians.
When your character runs out of Nightsoul Points or when your indwelled Saurian runs out of Phlogiston, they will consume the Phlogiston gauge above your HP to extend their durations/to allow continuous use of their abilities. Your Saurians will no longer be able to use their abilities once you run out of Phlogiston.
Some mechanisms also requires you to spend your Phlogiston gauge to enable them.

The Natlan Saurians
As of Version 5.0, we have a total of 3 different Saurians we can indwell:
- Tepetlisaurus (associated with the "Children of the Echoes")
- Yumkasaurus (associated with the "Scions of the Canopy")
- Koholasaurus (associated with the "People of the Springs")
Tepetlisaurus

Associated with the Children of the Echoes, Tepetlisaurus excels at digging through undergrounds and is even capable of digging through solid Phlogiston!
Tepetlisaurus will consume Phlogiston when moving underground.
Yumkasaurus

Associated with the Scions of the Canopy, Yumkasaurus are capable of moving around with ease by pulling themselves to the sigils!
Yumkasaurus will consume Phlogiston when attempting to consecutively move around by pulling themselves. They will also gradually consume Phlogiston gauge when storing a Flamegranate Pectin in their body.
Koholasaurus

Associated with the People of the Springs, Koholasaurus are capable of swimming swiftly through both waters and liquid Phlogiston (also known as lava)!
Koholasaurus will consume Phlogiston when using Aquadash (high-speed swimming), when jumping in the water, and when in contact with liquid Phlogiston.

Do you need Nightsoul Blessing to defeat enemies?
As of 5.0, no, you are not required to use Nightsoul-related mechanics to be able to defeat enemies. You can defeat them as you would defeat normal enemies.
However, some enemies do utilize the use of Nightsoul mechanics (either Nightsoul Points or Nightsoul-infused attacks) to defeat them easier.
One of the enemies are the Secret Source Automaton: Hunter-Seeker.

Secret Source Automaton: Hunter-Seeker
These automatons will accumulate its gauge based on the number of Nightsoul Points the player spends. After it accumulates enough Nightsoul points, it will launch a powerful laser obliterating everything in its path. At the same time, all of the enemy's DMG RES will greatly decrease for a period of time, giving you opportunity to get rid of them easier.
