Blade Durandal ELF Guide by Reinbex

Hey, Captains! Today we are going to be taking a look at the new ELF Blade Durandal introduced in v5.5. Blade Durandal is a Physical ELF designed to both provide her team Physical Support and unleash high Physical DMG onto enemies. In this guide, we will review her functionalities and where she excels best at.
For the sake of convenience, the ELF will be abbreviated to the “BD” in this guide.

✦ ELF INTRO ✦
※ Stats below are all Lv.80 figure and maxed out.

"It is the invincible holy sword hailed as the Immortal Blade and the origin of the name Durandal. Nicknamed Blade Durandal.
‘- Ooh, did Bianka write this for me? I guess it can't hurt to be serious once in a while!‘"
Blade Durandal is an S-rank ELF, so she starts at 2⭐ and maxes at 4⭐. A duplicate ELF drop yields 105 fragments while the first ELF drop skips over the 150 required fragments to unlock her.

✦ SKILLS DETAILS ✦

Basic Skills:

Blade Durandal’s Basic ATKs are simple; she slashes her enemies with Physical DMG, and at 4★, her Basic ATKs can strengthen herself.

Ultimate Skills:

Blade Durandal’s Ultimate gathers, aoe-hits, and gathers again. BD’s ult can inflict unique Physical Vulnerability Dissociated stacks, which can last up to 10s and stack 5 max. To top it all off, casting Ult reduces the switch-CD for teammates much like ELF Klein.

At 2★:
✦ Gathers, inflicts AOE Physical DMG, and gathers again
✦ Dissociated stacks (5 max; 1% Physical Vulnerability per stack; 10s)
✦ Reduce team’s switch-in CD
At 3★:
✦ Casting the Ult buffs BD with a significant +90% Crit Rate for 20s
✦ Dissociated stacks become 3% Physical Vulnerability per stack (passive skill)

Passive Skills:

There’s not much extra to be said here. Switching between Valkyries for team Total DMG and having at least one Physical DMG dealer as the teammate for Physical DMG buff/debuffs are recommended and also easy conditions to fulfill.

Passive Skills:

Blade Durandal’s second set of Passive skills aren’t too eye-popping. At 3★, she’s stronger, and at 4★, she can cast her Ult sooner.

✦ ELF COMPARISON ✦
Blade Durandal is the new Physical Support ELF. Therefore, she’ll be compared to her gachable predecessor, Tesla Zero (TZ). Skills that can help the team are compared between each other first, before testing their support output via total Team DMG.
Skills Comparison

Team Compositions

There are a total of 12 tests; 2 different teams testing both ELFs at ranks 2, 3, and 4 each..
The Palatinus Equinox (PE) team will check how necessary BD is compared to TZ when players have limited crystals to pull for what they want in v5.5.
The Herrscher of Void (HoV) team is to see how BD can fare against TZ when all of Tesla Zero’s passive buffs are applicable.
These tests will also serve to show the DMG improvement upon ranking up.

DMG comparisons

Blue for Palatinus Equinox and Brown for Herrscher of Void
Yellow-inner color for Blade Durandal, and red-inner color for Tesla Zero
From the testing, we can observe that Blade Durandal outperforms Tesla Zero is most cases, with the exception of Tesla Zero at 2★ over Blade Durandal 2★. In both teams, this comparison is true. It can also be noted that Blade Durandal gets a 4.5-6.5% increase in performance when going from 2★ to 3★. While the changes from 3★ to 4★ aren’t as large, it goes to show how important the skills locked at 3★ are for Blade Durandal!

Physical Teams (Such as PE-HoS-SnS)
(Flexible and not limited to just above)

Blade Durandal is designed for Physical teams only. Because BD’s Ult-related buffs only last 10s max, it’s most ideal to use her Ult around the moment your DPS comes in post support-setup. That way, your DPS can make full use of the benefits of BD’s ult while BD can also inflict more DMG upon enemies (assuming your Support Valkyries set up their buffs/debuffs).
Keep in mind that BD’s ult also reduces switch-in CDs, so it makes rotations and deciding the leader of the team that much easier!
Provided below are sample gameplays with Blade Durandal:

Memorial Arena | vs False God Otto | 31840

RL Abyss | vs HoD | 417Eh | 878

RL Abyss | vs Otto Apocalypse | 417Eh | 783

✦ Closing Thoughts ✦
In conclusion, Blade Durandal is a very powerful Physical ELF. Her kit is designed to provide Physical Buffs/Debuffs, including gathering and reducing switch-in CDs while also being able to dish out massive DMG.
BD can accomplish plenty at just 2★, but based on the testing, there’s a drastic difference in performance between 2★ and 3★. 4★ is effectively a DMG increase for the ELF herself. Therefore, I recommend players obtaining Blade Durandal to 3★!
This is the end of this guide, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it!
