Midnight Eclipse Weapon Guide by Reinbex
Hey, Captains! Today we are going to be taking a look at the new Lance weapon, Midnight Eclipse, introduced in v5.5. Midnight Eclipse is a Physical-DMG Lance-type DPS weapon designed for Palatinus Equinox. In this guide, we will review the weapon’s functionalities and where it excels best at. For the sake of convenience, Midnight Eclipse and Palatinus Equinox will be abbreviated to ME and PE respectively in this guide.

Like all other lances, ME’s weapon’s active performs a Throw/thrust ATK and deals Physical DMG.
However, in the hands of PE while in her Guardian form, the weapon’s active shoots out Cannon Blasts. PE can still perform a counter throw in Guardian form.

You can connect a Cannon Blast after the 4th Basic ATK for extra DMG.

If you perform a Charged ATK (even after Ult-evasion), you can unleash 3 Cannon Blasts instantly for some powerful Physical DMG!

The passive is rather simple, providing its wielder with Crit Rate but only itself with Total DMG and Physical DMG buffs. The DMG buffs it provides for itself is much more prevalent in the hands of PE, who can use the weapon’s active multiple times in succession.
✦ WEAPON COMPARISON ✦
There are quite a number of Physical Lances available for use. All viable lances that can be used for Physical DPSing will be compared towards Midnight Eclipse for DMG performance. PRI-ARMs will not be included in this guide.
Team Composition(s)
There will be two teams; one for Palatinus Equinox (PE) and the other for Bright Knight: Excelsis (BKE). With a total of 10 tests, we will test how well PE works with her signature weapon compared to other potential substitutes and how well the new ME works in the hands of BKE.

(Blue is for the MECH BKE; Yellow is for the IMG PE)
From the testings, ME is still the best Lv.50 Weapon for PE. However, the craftable Abyss is surprisingly the 2nd-best option, followed up by Endothermic Lance VF. The differences between ME and these 2 lances are a mere ~4% score difference. Hler’s Serenity and Abyss Flower aren’t too useful in the hands of PE. Non-ascended Captains can consider the craftable Lances as viable substitute options for PE.
As for BKE, her best weapon is still Abyss Flower, with ME being only better than Endothermic Lance VF. From these findings, Midnight Eclipse is only suitable for PE.

Palatinus Equinox

The obvious choice of wielder for Midnight Eclipse is Palatinus Equinox. Designed specifically for PE, ME extends the playstyle and DMG output of PE with its unique Cannon Blasts. For those seeking to make full use of both ME and PE, they should be played together.

✦ Closing thoughts ✦
Midnight Eclipse is a Physical Lance designed specifically for the non-Burst Valkyrie Palatinus Equinox. Although most of its passive buffs are designed only for itself, it also extends the play style of PE, allowing her to make use of those buffs and further her DMG output. However, as a consequence, other Lance users cannot make full use of ME. In addition, the craftable Abyss and Endothermic Lance VF can be viable substitutes for PE for Captains under Lv.81. Therefore, I only recommend getting and upgrading Midnight Eclipse if you plan to have or already have the Valkyrie Palatinus Equinox!
