Hey, Captains! In this guide, we will cover v5.5’s Palatinus Equinox and analyze how she works. For the sake of convenience, “Palatinus Equinox” will be abbreviated to “PE” in this guide.

✦ Introduction ✦
Having surpassed Active Honkai Reaction and Honkai's native power and activated Kaslana's and Schariac's stigma, Schick***&#*9;s strongest Valkyrie has joined the Equinoxes.
Otto split her life in two when she was ten. Before which, she was Kiana Kaslana. After which, Bianka Ataegina was born.
Nevertheless, she is still Durandal. This fact will never change.
Palatinus Equinox is an IMG Physical Awakened S-rank Valkyrie (of Dea Anchora). PE can switch between her Guardian Form and Knight Form freely. With two fighting styles, she utilizes Charged ATKs to decimate her foes!

✦ Leader: Stellar Crusader
When PE is the team leader, the team's Physical DMG is boosted and weapon skills have higher Crit Rate.
The higher Crit Rate synergizes well with lances Midnight Eclipse and Midnight Ataegina since PE is capable of utilizing their weapon active skills multiple times in one rotation.
✦ Passive: Aria Palatinus
PE has a special meter known as ICHOR. It’s used primarily for her Charged ATKs.

✦ Moving in Knight Form (Enters Flash State when full)
✦ Switch Form or Switch out (resets to 0)
✦ Ultimate Evasion (Full restore)
While not in CD, the Genius passive skill will reset PE’s Ult-Evasion CD upon form-switching. Note that even if the Ultimate-Evasion is NOT in CD, switching form will trigger Genius.
✦ Guardian Form Basic & Charged ATKs: Immortal Kaslana
In Guardian Form, PE fights with her lance and shield. Ultimate Evasions in this form also restore extra SP.
Tap [ATK] to perform Basic ATKs
At full ICHOR, hold [ATK] to perform Charged ATK, Equinox Severance
✦ Knight Form Basic & Charged ATKs: Glorious Schariac
In Knight Form, PE fights on her black steed, Krishna, and with her lance. Moving in this Knight Form while non-full ICHOR restores ICHOR as well. (A reminder that “Flash State” means full ICHOR)
Tap [ATK] to perform Basic ATKs
While Flash State and just moving, tap [EVA] to perform Stomp (considered Charged ATK).
Note that you cannot stomp while sprinting.
While Flash State, hold [ATK] to Sprint. Tap again or release [ATK] to perform Elite Thrust. (Both are considered Charged ATK)
Any enemies you sprint through will be hit with up to 10 Charged ATKs. Each hit will consume ICHOR. Upon running out of ICHOR, you will exit Sprint and also perform Elite Thrust. These 10 hits synergize well with stig-piece Bianka: Theatre (T).

✦ Evade: Duality of Antinomy
Tap [Eva] for Ult-Evasion, invoking 2s of Time Fracture and fully restoring ICHOR. The Genius passive skill enables the Ult-Evasion CD to reset upon switching forms.
Guardian Form: Backward evasion for Defense, forward evasion for Shield Ram.
Tap [EVA] and Defense/Shield Ram a hit → Retaliation → full ICHOR
Then you can Tap [ATK] for Charged ATK, Elite Thrust (if Ult-Evasion is in CD, then just Up Thrust)
While not moving, tap [EVA] to trigger Ult-Evasion and restore full ICHOR.
During Ult-Evasion, tap a direction to initiate Sprint. Note that Stomp (full ICHOR and moving) doesn’t trigger Ult-Evasion.

QTE can be triggered via Time Slow or knocking enemies airborne.
The easy-to-trigger QTE enables PE to enter the battle in Knight-Form.
✦ Switching Forms and Ultimate: Equinox March
You can switch forms between Knight and Guardian Form freely. Knight → Guardian Form will automatically perform Shield Ram. Going into Knight Form will automatically evade backwards.
Tap [ULT] to switch forms. No form-switch CDs
If Ult-Evasion isn’t in CD, auto-perform Ult-Evasion (Shield Ram needs to hit an enemy also).
Genius passive skill resets Ult-Evasion, so after Guardian Form → Knight Form, Ult-Evade and fully restore ICHOR, enabling you to perform Sprint Charged ATKs asap.
Hold [ULT], consume 100 SP, stop all timers, and inflict massive Physical DMG.
You retain the same form as before you performed your Ult. Against IMG enemies, Ultimate also inflicts 150% of DMG dealt to the Nihilus Shell onto the Nihilus Shell also.

✦ Weapons
When it comes to weapons, PE’s signature weapons are her best choices. Both Midnight Eclipse and Midnight Ataegina have a unique weapon’s active that is only accessible to PE in her Guardian Form. The Cannon Blasts that come out of these Lances can be used multiple times and synergize well with PE’s Sumeru passive sub-skill.
Below is a weapons comparison chart, with Yellow depicting Palatinus Equinox and Blue for Bright Knight: Excelsis. From one can observe, Midnight Eclipse is the best option for PE, followed up by the two craftable lances, Abyss and Endothermic Lance VF.

When it comes to PRI-ARMs, Midnight Ataegina is, hands down, the best choice for PE. The weapon comparison chart below also showcases how well each lance performs in the hands of either Palatinus or Bright Knight. It’s very recommended for PE-players to get their hands on the signature PRI-ARM; there is a huge performance difference between Midnight Ataegina and Hler’s Ataraxia.

✦ Stigmatas
For stigmatas, the Equinoctial Wonder set is the best choice. It boasts all buffs a Physical DPS would want, Physical DMG, Total DMG, Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and even SP-regen! Bianka: Theatre is very easy to set up in the hands of PE and can only be properly used by PE! The important T, 2-pc, and 3-pc effects of this set are only for Palatinus!
You can substitute for other sets such as [Kafka TM + Elysia B], but do expect a drop in SP-regen, making it difficult to execute PE’s ultimate often.

✦ RECOMMENDED ELF(S) ✦
The magical ELF Blade Durandal is released alongside PE. She is a powerful Physical ELF who can provide both DMG and support! Apart from her Physical buff/debuffs, she can also gather and reduce switch-in CDs via ult!
Upon testing the ELFs per DPS, Blade Durandal came out on top most of the time! She has a lighter requirement for her buffs/debuffs, making her much more versatile amongst Physical teams. If you’re looking to improve your Physical team rotation improvement and/or DMG output, then I recommend pulling Blade Durandal to at least 3★!

✦ Closing Thoughts ✦
In conclusion, Palatinus Equinox is a very powerful Physical character. While complicated at first, her wide variety of attacks in both her Guardian form and Knight form enables her to continue fighting for a long time. Her playstyle involves invoking her Ultimate Evasion multiple times as she thrashes foes with her Charged ATKs before finishing off with her timer-stopping Ultimate.
With more IMG enemies coming and as the first S-rank IMG Valkyrie, PE is very likely to be relevant for a long time. With that in mind, if you wish for a powerful valkyrie to add to your arsenal, I highly recommend obtaining Palatinus Equinox!
