Mictlan's Plantito | Ororon | Genshin Impact Detailed Character Review and Build Guide [Version 5.2]

From Genshin Impact Character Guide

Ororon

The Shrouded Bat of Mictlan debuts as the first tall Electro male character in the game for almost four years! Ororon is a member of Mictlan known for being eccentric due to being unique constitution which he's being excluded from the clan as they think it brings ill tidings and misfortune to them. Recently, we know that he's colluding with Capitano as he wants to sacrifice his life to help others. He became playable on November 20, 2024.

Oh, hello. I'm Ororon from the Masters of the Night-Wind. Want some vegetables?

Oh, don't worry — I'm not trying to sell anything to you or get anything in return. There's no rhyme or reason for it, really. I just like to see what every seed grows up to be, so I end up with a lot of produce. As long as my vegetables wind up in the stomach of someone who enjoys them, that's all that matters.

Popsicle's Short Review

▲PROS: Ororon's abilities provided another set of Electro Off-field kits that players already implemented on some of their team, leading him to be used in that role. His Off-field kit does have decent AoE that allows more enemies to be inflicted with Electro DMG. Not only that, his kit can also taunts enemies, allowing your team to deal multiple damage on multiple enemies at once. Due to his kit, Ororon excels greatly on mobs, especially when fighting multiple enemies in the Spiral Abyss. Lastly, you can equipped him with various supporting artifact set, but he is the best to equipped Scrolls of the Hero of Cinder City, Natlan's newest artifact set.

▼CONS: His Off-field kit is his Elemental Burst, which requires you to invest a bit to his Energy Recharge requirements for you to use it every rotation. Not to mention he excels best in Electro-Charged team compositions, which hampers his teambuilding. Lastly, his Elemental Skill has limitation to only hit an enemy once.

Combat Profile

✦ Normal Attack | Spiritvessel Snapshot

➤ Ororon's Normal Attack allows him to thro 3 consecutive shots with his bow, dealing Physical DMG. His Charged Attack allows himt o deal Electro DMG when he has a fully-charged arrow. Not to mention, he has a special ability to allow him to hover and use his Charged Attack, making him relatively safe against his opponents. However, you won't focusing much on his Normal Attack unless you want to build him as DPS.

✦ Elemental Skill | Night's Sling

❝Not too far, now.❠

➤ Ororon's Elemental Skill allows him to throw Spirit Orb to the enemies, inflicting them with Nightsoul-aligned Electro DMG. This Spirit Orb wil bounce on the other opponents nearby and the opponents can only be selected as a target once. This limitation makes him good on dealing multiple enemies.

✦ Elemental Burst | Dark Voices Echo

❝Go, you're free now.❠

➤ Ororon's main kit is located on his Burst, allowing him to summon his Supersonic Oculus and dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Electro DMG. His Supersonic Oculus can taunt nearby opponents and it continously rotates and fire off sonic waves that deal Electro DMG. Based on my time with him, he has high taunt radius, allowing him to attract more enemies. It is perfectly good when you plan to use crowd-control characters like Venti and Kazuha.

Passive Ability

✦ Utility Passive | The Art of Skinchanging

❝What's the occasion?❠

◢ Increases gliding SPD for your own party members by 15%. Not stackable with Passive Talents that provide the exact same effects.

➤ It is a nice overworld passive that allows you to glide farther, especially when travelling around Natlan. As always, you can't stack the passive talent with the same effects, whcih means you can't further boost your gliding speed when paired with Xianyun.

✦ Night Realm's Gift Passive | Flowing Fog, Spritely Shadows

❝Careful, some saurians like to hide in chests like this — probably an introvert thing.❠

◢ While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, he can use Nightsoul Transmission: Ororon. When the active character is currently in the air, the following will trigger when switching to Ororon: Ororon will leap up high. Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10s by your party.

Holding Aiming Mode will cause Ororon to enter the "Spiritspeaker" state, which will allow him to interact with "Nightspirit Graffiti" and "Nightspirit Sigils," extracting information and power from them. The rules for interacting with these objects follow the same rules as those governing Iktomisaurus interactions.

Additionally, holding the jump button will cause Ororon to consume 75 Stamina and leap. In areas within Natlan where Phlogiston mechanics are present, Ororon will prioritize consuming 5 Phlogiston to leap to a height higher still.

When in the air, Ororon can Hold his Normal Attack to consume Phlogiston or Stamina and enter Aiming Mode.

➤ Mentioned on his Normal Attack, you can leap high (just pressing your space key on PC) and you can use his Charged Attack when fighting enemies. Additionally, he will enter the Spiritspeaker state, which allows him to interact with Nightspirit Graffiti and Nightspirit Sigils around Mictlan. This kit is similar when usiong Iktomisaurus in the wild.

✦ 1st Ascension Passive | Nightshade Synesthesia

❝What did you give me just now? Can I have another look?❠

◢ After a nearby party member triggers Nightsoul Burst, Ororon will gain 40 Nightsoul points. Within 15s after using his Elemental Skill, when other party members' Hydro or Electro attacks hit opponents, Ororon will gain 5 Nightsoul points, an effect that can occur every 0.3s for a maximum of 10 times during this 15s duration.

Ororon can have a maximum of 80 Nightsoul points.

Also, when nearby opponents take Electro-Charged reaction DMG or Nightsoul-aligned DMG dealt by other nearby characters, Ororon will consume 10 Nightsoul points (provided he has at least that amount), entering the Nightsoul's Blessing state and triggering the Hypersense effect: Deal Nightsoul-aligned Electro DMG based on 160% of Ororon's ATK to at most 4 nearby opponents. The aforementioned effect can trigger once every 1.8s.

Nightsoul's Blessing: Ororon: Ororon's Nightsoul's Blessing state lasts 6s.

➤ His A1 Passive allows him to have an additive Nightsoul Points mechanic upon his team triggering Nightsoul Points. You will gain Nightsoul Points even further when you attack an opponent on either Hydro or Electro. Additionally, it also consumes his Nightsoul Points when you trigger Electro-Charged reaction, allowing him to boost his personal damage.

✦ 4th Ascension Passive | Aspect Catalyst

❝My body feels so light... feels like I can get to even higher places now. Still, it's all about control. Hitting my head is no fun.❠

◢ After the Elemental Skill Night's Sling's Spirit Orb hits an opponent, Ororon will gain the Aspect Sigil effect for 15s.

Aspect Sigil: When a nearby active party member hits an opponent with Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attacks, that character will restore 3 Energy. If Ororon is off-field, Ororon will also restore 3 Energy. This effect can trigger once every 1s, and can trigger 3 times per duration.

➤ His A4 Passive allows Ororon to have a supportive kit. It allows the active character and Ororon to restore his Energy every 1 second. This alleviate the active character's Energy Recharge attributes and recommended to use Ororon's kit before you use your team's DPS.

Constellations

✦ C1 - Trails Amidst the Forest Fog

➤ Ororon's C1 allows his Spirit Orb to bounce 2 additional times, making it bounce five times in one activation. This further increases the Energy he restores and the damage his Skill does. The latter buff is thanks to the Nighttide effect. His C1 makes it a good introductory constellation for those who got Ororon by chance.

✦ C2 - King Bee of the Hidden Honeyed Wine

➤ It further increases his damage thanks to the Spiritual Supersense, allowing him to gain more Electro DMG Bonus.

✦ C3 - Roosting Bat's Spiritcage

➤ It further increases his Elemental Burst's Talent Level to 15. It's a good stopping point for those who want to build Ororon primarily as Off-field DPS.

✦ C4 - As the Mysteries of the Night Wind

➤ Ororon's Supersonic Oculus will rotate faster, which increases the damage against its opponents. Additionally, it also increases the Energy to himself after using his Burst. This decreases his Energy Recharge attribute by a bit.

✦ C5 - A Gift For the Soul

➤ It further increases his Elemental Skill's Talent Level to 15.

✦ C6 - Ode to Deep Springs

➤ Ororon's best constellation as it gives a huge ATK increase to the active character upon using his Burst. This increases the ATK that you can provide to your DPS.

About Constellation

➤ Vampyrum Spectrum = Spectral Bat

➤ Spectral bat, or Great False Vampire Bat, is a large leaf-nosed bat that is usually found in Mexico, and Central and South America. It is called the "false vampire bat" because it is carnivorous. Due to its eating habits, it is the only bat in the world that is under the genus Vampyrum. According to Aztec and Mayan mythology, bats were associated with underworld, death, and destruction. Because of the negative connotation with bats, it is likely the reason why Ororon is being ostracized by its tribe, allowing him to live in a secluded and isolated area.

Build Section

Electro Off-field DPS

Build Notes

It is mentioned that Ororon is a good Electro Off-field DPS due to its consistent Electro application against opponents. However, he needs to be on Electro-Charged team compositions to be able to maximize his kit and give his team an advantage in combat. You can either increase Ororon's damage contribution or increase his supportive kit by giving supportive artifact sets and weapons that will aid his team in battle. As always, you can check his talent prioritization in the Quick Glance section.

Electro Off-Field DPS Weapon Recommendation

  • Elegy for the End
  • Ororon's recommended five-star weapon
  • It is his best weapon slot because it gives a high Base ATK and Energy Recharge, which he needs in order to use his Burst every rotation. In addition, it also gives Elemental Mastery and ATK to his team upon obtaining "Millenial Movement: Farewell Song" which you can activate by using his Skill or Burst. However, there is a 20-second cooldown, so you need to adjust your rotation to maximize the advantage that this weapon gives.

  • Polar Star
  • Ororon's alternative five-star weapon
  • You can further increase Ororon's damage contribution by increasing his Burst DMG, which you can find on this weapon's passive ability. You can increase the Ashen Nightsar stack by using his Normal Attack on his rotation before using your Skill and Burst to gain at least 3 stacks.
Polar Star | Weapon Guide
19k
  • Skyward Harp
  • Ororon's alternative five-star weapon
  • Another good option for Ororon especially if you wish to further increase his damage thanks to its high Base ATK, Crit Rate substat, and Crit DMG buff on its passive.

  • Aqua Simulacra
  • Ororon's alternative five-star weapon
  • A good option for Ororon because of its Crit DMG and Damage buff. Just make sure that you are always near to the opponents when you have this on him.
Aqua Simulacra | Weapon Guide
27k
  • Favonius Warbow
  • Ororon's recommended four-star weapon
  • Since your goal is to use his Burst every rotation, having a Favonius Warbow in him will make his Energy Recharge attribute lower and allows him to generate more Energy for his team.

  • Alley Hunter
  • Ororon's alternative four-star weapon
  • If you want to focus on increasing Ororon's damage, you can equip this weapon with him. It can be comparable to his other five-star options when you increase its refinement level.
Alley Hunter | Weapon Guide

  • Chain Breaker
  • Ororon's alternative four-star weapon
  • Another good weapon that you can use on him, especially when you pair him up with other Natlan characters.

  • The Stringless
  • Ororon's alternative four-star weapon
  • If you don't have access to Alley Hunter or don't have Chain Breaker in your inventory, you can use this weapon as it can increase Ororon's Burst and Skill DMG by a lot, especially at R5.
The Stringless | Genshin Impact Weapon Guide

  • Sacrificial Bow
  • Ororon's alternative four-star weapon
  • It's an alternative to Favonius Warbow, so you can use it if you don't have it/or if it's being used by other characters. The passive won't do much to Ororon, but there is no harm on making it R5 because it could generate more Energy per use.
Sacrificial Bow | Genshin Impact Weapon Guide

  • End of the Line
  • Ororon's alternative four-star weapon
  • Another decent option for Ororon because of its decent Energy Recharge substat. The passive is appreciated as it adds damage to the opponents.

  • Mouun's Moon
  • Ororon's alternative four-star weapon
  • In addition to the ATK substat, you can further increase his Burst DMG when you align his team to have the maximum Energy capacity to maximize its passive.

  • Raven Bow
  • Ororon's recommended beginner-star weapon
  • For new players, this is the best option that you can use because of its A1 Passive. If you want to get him, you need to acclimate yourself in Electro-Charge, that is why you need this weapon as a starter.

Electro Off-Field DPS Artifact Recommendation

  • Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City
  • Ororon's default artifact set
  • By far, it is the best artifact set that anyone from Natlan can use. The piece bonuses that this set provides allow him to shine as a support in his team by providing energy regeneration and increasing the party's Elemental DMG Bonus. Since he's mainly focused on Electro-Charged team composition, you will see increased DMG Bonuses on Hydro and Electro.

  • Marechaussee Hunter
  • Ororon's alternative artifact set
  • It's a good artifact set that you can use on him especially when placed on Furina. Even though he won't be able to take advantage of the Normal and Charged Attack DMG increase, the Crit Rate buff is what he's looking for.

Maréchaussée Hunter | Artifact Set Guide

  • Gilded Dreams
  • Ororon's alternative artifact set
  • It's another decent option for Ororon because it increases the Electro-Charged reaction damage and gives ATK and Elemental Mastery buff to his team. Just make sure that you have another Electro in your team to take advantage of the ATK buff.
Gilded Dreams | Artifact Set Guide

  • Emblem of Severed Fate
  • Ororon's alternative artifact set
  • If you plan for Ororon to become the only Electro unit in his team and want to focus on building his Burst DMG, you have the option to use this set for him.

  • Noblesse Oblige
  • Ororon's alternative artifact set
  • Surprisingly, this artifact set is useful for Ororon because it increases his Burst DMG and gives ATK to all of his team. If you have already a good Noblesse Oblige set that is lying around, you can use it for him either temporarily (if you want to pursue SHCC) or permanently (if you are too lazy to farm for artifacts).

Electro-Charged Team 2

Since he excels well on the Electro-Charged teams, here's another option for you

Electro-Charged Team 3

Community Consensus

Conclusion

Ororon's introduction in the game allows new and old players to try Electro-Charged team composition. I know not a lot of players are using it, but with some players who are currently enjoying it, I think Ororon would be a great fit for the current Electro-Charged team composition that you have in your account. Since he has a supportive kit that can deal consistent damage, anyone would have a fun time with him, especially when you worked out the flaws in his gear.
