Option 2 all the way!

Ornamental Vision you say? Hmmmm where have I heard that one before?

Option 2 nicely wrapped up with a fancy Narukami Shrine Maiden's Bow.

But you guys reading my stuff already knew her "Vision" would be fake and we're passed it now. No what's really interesting is this.

This is the tall tale that Yae tells our MC to explain how she got her Vision. She passes it off as her making stuff up but remember what I said about what MiHoYo ended up coming up with?

What if this story is true but with a few details tweaked? Instead of it being a story about Yae triumphantly claiming - and also being confident that she would be claiming - her Vision what if this is the Cataclysm?

-Spoilers for the new Ei Character Quest-

We learned that Yae was still young back during the Fall of Khaenri'ah. We also learned recently that Inazuma was in grave danger during the events because there was no Sakura tree to absorb all the corruption and neither Ei nor Makoto had the power to stop the damage the Abyss was causing. Eventually Makoto sacrifices herself and uses her life force to become the seed of the Sacred Sakura and when Ei plants it in the past it grows strong so that by the time of Khaenri'ah's fall it was there to absorb all the corruption. (It might also be likely that Kitsune Saiguu died during the pre-Sakura timeline and tried absorbing the corruption herself. She dies overwhelmed by its darkness.)

So what if back during the original timeline Yae was fleeing up to the shrine in some last ditch effort to take out as many evil monsters as she could. (maybe in honor of Kitsune Saiguu's sacrifice) The battle was getting more desperate when suddenly a big bolt of lightning strikes Yae. But it wasn't a Vision. It's the kitsunetsuki and this is when Yae is taken over by the old Electro Archon.

In other words if our dumb Traveler didn't interrupt her we might have gotten just a little more information out of Yae to know what the "revivified" Archon did during the pre-change Inazuma timeline. Additionally I think this might also mean that it wasn't Makoto that got Istaroth to help. Maybe it was the original Archon calling out from the shrine that moved Istaroth enough to pull some strings which led to Makoto's move and becoming the seed. It could have even been the old Archon speaking to Makoto directly. This is why Makoto's move to go to Khaenri'ah was so strange and uncharacteristic as Ei says. (The allogene Archons wouldn't have known about using time or sacrificing their godly power to protect the land but an old one would. Marchosius did something similar for Liyue after all.)

Also even though it's a possession the fact that it happened at a desperate moment during battle is very thematic for all Electro Visions. On the other hand there is 1 Electro Vision holder who didn't have this life or death episode when she got her Vision. Fischl gets her Vision in an internal struggle between wanting to be Prinzessin vs everybody in her life telling her to grow up. The Vision stops her from accepting her life as a normal girl. Now I have a theory that Fischl is really not a normal girl. What if this specific part pairs with Yae because she was a normal kitsune until her possession by the Archon? If you haven't yet go check out that theory on Fischl.

Anyway if this is all true I think I can now piece together the events leading up to the present. So I'll do that next time!
