Popsicle's Short Review

▲PROS: Keqing's kit is straightforward, allowing players to use her once they get her. Even though she's already one of the legacy five-star characters, she excels very well in the current meta making her shine in every team composition, especially new supports that increase her damage output, making her to be usable again in the current game. Her Burst allows her to deal multiple damage within a large AoE, making her suitable not just for single targets, but also with mobs. Not to mention she has low energy costs. Lastly, her Skill lets players reach higher places, allowing players to have an easy way traversing the entire Teyvat.

▼CONS: It is quite surprising that Keqing's only flaw is that her Charged Attack's Stamina cost is a bit higher compared to other DPS in the game.

Combat Profile

✦ Normal Attack | Yunlai Swordsmanship

➤ Her Normal Attack allows her to deal 5 rapid strikes while her Charged Attack consumes 25 Stamina to unleash 2 rapid sword strikes, both dealing Physical DMG. It is the core kit that allows Keqing to deal higher damage, especially on her Charged Attack. She also has a fast attack animation and a decent damage multiplier.

➤ Player consensus recommends that 4x NA - CA is the recommended attack combo that you can use because it gives the player enough time for her Charged Attack to fill up comfortably, without sacrificing too much of her damage. Although you have the freedom to use the common combos for DPS, like 2x NA - CA or a hybrid between the two, it comes down to your discretion which combo you are going to use in batle.

✦ Elemental Skill | Stellar Restoration

❝Humans are like moths, endlessly chasing the flame we call gods and adepti. But this light that I have here is my own.❠

➤ Her Elemental Skill allows Keqing to use her Lightning Stiletto hit a target and deal Electro DMG against the opponent. You can use her Skill by Tapping or Holding it down. The latter allows her to adjust the direction of the Stiletto. If you put it mid-air, you will be teleported mid-air and plunge as you press your Normal Attack button.

➤ Lightning Stiletto

Her Skill revolves around her Lightning Stiletto, a core component of her kit. You need to place the Stiletto on the field before attacking your opponents. When you perform a Charged Attack with the Stiletto in place, it triggers her Thunderclap Slash, dealing AoE Electro DMG. You can also use it to 'blink' to the marked position, slashing opponents with AoE Electro DMG. Remember, the Lightning Stiletto's cooldown starts once you place it, and the mark lasts for five seconds, so make it count.

✦ Elemental Burst | Starward Sword

❝The swiftest technique in Keqing's personal arsenal is fast enough to bring stars crashing down.❠

➤ Her Elemental Burst is a straightforward release of the power of lightning that deals Electro DMG in a large AoE. It is Keqing's source of AoE damage, allowing you to deal with multiple enemies at once, even if it is not grouped together.

Passive Ability

✦ Utility Passive | Land's Overseer

❝Let's finish this quickly.❠

➤ Since Keqing is familiar with lands across Liyue, her time gathering stuff around the region is reduced by 25%. This ensures that you will get your ores, Moras, or fruits much faster.

✦ 1st Ascension Passive | Thundering Penance

❝When your heart is set on something, you get closer to your goal with each passing day.❠

➤ Her A1 Passive allows Keqing to gain Electro infusion for 5 seconds when you recast your Skill. This allows her to trigger Electro-related reactions, especially when she is placed in Aggravate team compositions. If you don't want to have your sword infused by Electro, you can just use Charged Attack.

✦ 4th Ascension Passive | Aristocratic Dignity

❝Yesterday's experiences make me stronger today. And most of those experiences are ones that I share with you.❠

➤ Her A4 Passive allows Keqing to have her Crit Rate and Energy Recharge increased for 8 seconds when you cast her Elemental Burst.

Constellations

✦ C1 - Thundering Might

➤ Keqing's C1 increases the damage dealt by her Skill as that extra Electro DMG is activated at the start and end of her Blink.

✦ C2 - Keen Extraction

➤ Keqing's C2 increases the chances of producing an Elemental Particle when she uses her Normal and Charged Attack. Although the benefits of this constellation may vary on her team composition, you won't be needing it much because on the her low Energy cost on her Burst.

✦ C3 - Foreseen Reformation

➤ It further increases her Elemental Burst's Talent Level to 15.

✦ C4 - Attunement

➤ Keqing's C4 increases her ATK whenever she triggers any Electro-related reaction for 10 seconds.

✦ C5 - Beckoning Stars

➤ It further increases her Elemental Skill's Talent Level to 15.

✦ C6 - Tenacious Star

➤ Keqing's C6 allows her to gain an additional Electro DMG Bonus for 8 seconds when she initiates a combat and effects triggered by her Normal, Charged, Elemental Skill, and Burst are counted independently. This is a great constellation when you play her as your Electro DPS.

About Constellation

➤ Trulla Cementarii = Plumb Line

C5 Keqing

➤ Keqing's constellation resembles a plumb line used in ancient masonry, which allows for accurate surveying and checking if a building's construction is truly upright. This symbolism suits Keqing's role as a Yuheng, as urban planners need to ensure that buildings are properly centered and aligned. Additionally, the constellation's Latin name appears in the Vulgate (Latin translation of the Bible) in Amos 7:7, implying that the Lord will check how righteous and faithful the people of Israel are to His law. The official Chinese and Korean translations of the constellation refer to high-ranking officials, who were also seen wearing the colors purple and gold.

Build Section

On-field DPS

Build Notes

Keqing is an excellent On-field Electro DPS that allows her to deal decent amount of Electro DMG, which perfectly complements with how fast her attack animation, making her a decent on-field damage dealer. Your goal is to maximize her capabilities as much as possible, allowing her to deal with massive damage output when you use her. As always, you can check her talent prioritization in the Quick Glance section.

Electro On-field DPS Weapon Recommendation

Mistsplitter Reforged

➤ Keqing's recommended five-star weapon that you can use because of the massive Base ATK and Crit DMG that this weapon has to offer. Not to mention how easily she can trigger its passive ability, allowing Keqing to deal a hefty amount of damage. It is also a must-have weapon because of its flexibility when it comes on placing Keqing in Aggravate or Non-Aggravate team composition.

Primordial Jade Cutter

➤ Keqing's another recommended weapon thanks to its high Cit Rate and ATK Bonus that you can easily maximize due to its easy conditions. Players can also use this as Keqing's permanent weapon as the damage difference between her Mistsplitter Reforged and PJC is small.

Haran Geppakku Futsu

➤ Another five-star weapon that you can use on Keqing because of its high Base ATK, decent Crit Rate, Elemental DMG Bonus, and Normal Attack DMG increase that you can enjoy, regardless of your team composition plans for Keqing.

Freedom-Sworn

➤ One of the five-star options that you can use for Keqing if you are only planning her to use in Aggravate team composition. Its high Elemental Mastery and buffs to her Normal and Charged Attacks, and her ATK attributes make it comfortable to maximize.

Light of Foliar Incision

➤ Another decent option when you plan to use Keqing as your Main DPS in Aggravate teams. She can definitely enjoy the high Crit DMG, the increase given to her Crit Rate, and the damage buff to her Normal Attack and Elemental Skill. When you are using this weapon, it is recommended to use Elemental Mastery Sands on her artifact set.

Summit Shaper

➤ Assuming that you pair Keqing with a shielder (like Zhongli, Layla, or Lan Yan), she can use this weapon because of the ATK buff it gives to her, not to mention the high ATK substat that it provides to her. Also, using this weapon allows her to have higher damage output outside Aggravate team composition.

Lion's Roar

➤ It is one of the best four-star weapons that you can get for Keqing, regardless of the team composition you are planning to put her, because of the damage increase that you can get on its passive. At R5, it performs quite considerably well and players can opt out not to use any Battle Pass weapons. You can stick to using this weapon even at Spiral Abyss until you get one of the recommended five-star weapons mentioned above.

The Black Sword

➤ You can only get this sword in Battle Pass. It is quite on par with Lion's Roar because of the Crit Rate and DMG buff that you can enjoy with this weapon. It also regenerates HP based on her ATK, which is quite nice to have, making Keqing survive in combat.

Toukabou Shigure

➤ If you managed to get this limited weapon before, Keqing can also use this weapon because of the Elemental Mastery it provides with added damage bonus that you can gain because of its passive. If you have this weapon and have its highest refinement rank, it damage it provides is sight a bit lower than the other two-mentioned four-star weapons, but it is also competitive nonetheless.

Kagotsurube Isshin

➤ A F2P sword that you can get after finishing Kazuha's Story Quest that is very strong when you use Keqing in Non-Aggravate team composition. Even without any refinement rank, it is still competitive thanks to its high ATK substat, and buff to Keqing's ATK when you hit an opponent using your Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack.

Wolf-Fang

➤ Another decent weapon option that you can use for Keqing., Although it is recommended to get The Black Sword (as both of these weapons can be found in Battle Pass), there is nothing wrong if you only have this Battle Pass weapon in your account. Just make sure that you are using Thundering Fury and place Keqing in Non-Aggravate team compositions.

Harbinger of Dawn

➤ A solid F2P that beginner players can use because of the Crit DMG and Crit Rate it gives to her. At R5, it competes comfortably with her other five-star weapon options.

Electro On-field DPS Artifact Recommendation

Thundering Fury

➤ Keqing's recommended artifact set especially when she is placed in Aggravate team compositions since she can reliably trigger its four-piece bonus, allowing Keqing to have a better quality of life, especially on its high Stamina consumption when using her Charged Attack. Outside of Aggravate teams, it is the recommended two-piece due to the Electro DMG Bonus that you can get for free. The other half is usually supplied with +18% ATK sets.

Thundering Fury | Artifact Set Guide
2,236

Thundersoother

➤ If you can manage to have a high application of Electro against opponents, this set generally has higher damage output than Thundering Fury, and you can even use it outside Aggravate team composition. If you can work out its inherent flaws, it is a great set to get.

Gilded Dreams

➤ If you can manage to have a high application of Electro against opponents, this set generally has higher damage output than Thundering Fury, and you can even use it outside Aggravate team composition. If you can work out its inherent flaws, it is a great set to get.

Gilded Dreams | Artifact Set Guide

Shimenawa's Reminiscence

➤ It's another option for Keqing if you don't plan to use her Burst often because of its Energy-drain mechanic when you use her Skill. Usually recommended if you play Keqing as your Elemental Driver.

Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | Artifact Set Guide
2,646

Gladiator's Finale

➤ It is another option for Keqing especially for new players who don't have access to the domains of artifact sets that were previously mentioned. Although she can benefit from all of the bonuses that this set provides, it can't buff the damage dealt by her Charged Attack, which is her source of damage. Although its damage output is a lower than the rest of the mentioned artifact set, it is a better temporary set that you can get.

Gladiator's Finale | Artifact Set Guide
2,364

+18% ATK set

➤ For most, 2-pc Thundering Fury and 2-pc +18% ATK is sufficient enough to be Keqing's main artifact set driver, regardless of the team composition you have in her because it is consistent and you don't think too much of the 4-piece bonuses that you need to worry or trigger, making it a safe set for all players.

Synergy

The synergy section provides a detailed guide on how much synergistic that character is to Keqing. Please adhere to the legends inside the infographics.

  • High Synergy refers to the character that can definitely be used in your team without any restrictions. You don't need investments in their constellation to synergize with the featured character on this guide.
  • Conditional Synergy refers to the character that you can use with some caveats, unlocking constellations, utilizing one of their passive, or requiring high investment to their kit. It is often used as an alternative if you don't have any characters that are synergistic with the featured character in this guide.
  • Low/No Synergy refers to the character that doesn't synergize well with the featured character in this guide.
  • To Be Determine refers to the character that isn't playable yet but it is already confirmed to be playable within the next version.

Reason for Conditional Synergy:

  • Yanfei could be used as your shielder, assuming that you have unlocked her C4.
  • Sigewinne is another option for you if you need a healer and Hydro application, but other characters are better suited for that role.
  • Barbara is another decent option that you can use, but she lacks flexibility in terms of utility outside healing.

Reason for Conditional Synergy:

  • Although Chasca is a DPS, Keqing could fit as a Quickswap DPS on her team and she fills an Electro bullet on Chasca's gun. However, both of them demand high on-field time, so you either want to experiment with it or use it for fun.
  • Anemo Traveler could be Keqing's Anemo unit, but there are other Anemo units that you can use on her team.
  • Electro Traveler could also act as Keqing's Electro unit (Energy battery), but there are other units that you can use on Keqing's team.

Reason for Conditional Synergy:

  • Tighnari and Keqing are required to have both on-field time in combat. When using him as your Dendro unit for Keqing's team, it is advisable not to use his Charged Attacks. However, there are other Dendro unit that works better for Keqing
  • Charlotte, Mika, Shenhe, Rosaria, Diona, and Kaeya are decent Cryo units that you can use if you plan to work on Keqing as your Main DPS in Superconduct/Physical team compositions.
  • Ningguang can be situated in Keqing's team composition as Quickswap Burst Support

Team Building

Here are some team compositions you may use for Keqing. If you can use these characters when building her team composition. It will differ depending on your character availability and preferred playstyle. Please in mind that you can use the Synergy section to help you decide your preferred team composition with Keqing.

NOTE: If you plan to use Keqing as the Main DPS in the Superconduct team, it is advisable to use the Physical DMG Bonus Goblet.

Rotation Tips

Keqing follows the standard rotation as many DPS units in the game. Generally, it is required to use her Skill, Burst, and then her Normal Attack combinations to take advantage of all of the passive that Keqing has. The Normal Attack combos are already mentioned in the Normal Attack section of this guide.

Community Insight

Conclusion

Keqing's sudden appearance as one of the characters featured in the Chronicled Wish Banner marks an exciting moment for fans who have long awaited her return. This is her second rerun banner, following the Dance of Lantern wish banner event nearly four years ago. Although she may seem nearly forgotten, Keqing remains a viable legacy character often overlooked due to her reputation before the release of Dendro reactions in the game. While many players have switched to stronger Main DPS characters, small communities still appreciate and use her kit despite the meta changes. New players can enjoy her with access to the starter Dendro unit, while old players can revisit their Keqing builds and see how things have evolved. Her return to the pool offers a better chance to experience and use some of the new supports that Keqing didn't have the luxury of during the game's debut. This is also a great opportunity to use her again and rediscover her potential. By mitigating her flaws, players can have a wonderful time with her in both combat and exploration.
