✦ Introduction ✦

The Astral Ring system was introduced with Part 2 in version 7.3. Every Valkyrie added since then has it.

Back in 7.4 I did a guide on it, but since then I learned quite a bit, so I wanted to do this updated version for a while now.

Amadeus was faster than me but my girl restarted Honkai so I'm doing it anyway now, can't let my girl down

So let's look at everything this system brings into the game.

✦ Astral Ring Basics - Outside Battle ✦

✧ Supported Valkyries ✧

Every Valkyrie added after 7.3 can use the Astral Ring system.

To make it easy I'll refer to those with Astral Ring System as "P2 Valkyries", while referring to the others as "P1 Valkyries"

When filtering for Valkyries you can filter between P1 and P2 Valkyries in the top right corner.

Switch off Non-Astral Ring Characters to look for P2 Valkyries, which we will be looking at in more detail in this Guide.

Only P2 Valkyries are shown

The only exceptions on this are Herrscher of Finality - Kiana and Herrscher of Human: Ego - Elysia.

These characters can switch between P1 and P2 systems by equipping or unequipping their Part 2 divine keys.

For Kiana it's Waxing Moon: Incipience and for Elysia Flawless Benediction: Legacy. When equipping or unequipping these weapons the game will tell you about that as well.

As soon as a P2 Valkyrie is the leader, the Astral Ring system will be activated.

✧ Astral Ring Specializations ✧

The Astral Ring system is divided into 12 Specializations, each bringing unique features. Currently five of these Specializations are available:

✧ World Star / WS (7.3)

✧ Rite of Oblivion / RoO (7.3)

✧ Wheel of Destiny / WoD (7.4)

✧ Law of Ascension / LoA (8.0)

✧ Grail of Infinitude / GoI (8.3)

The Specialization that's active decides how exactly the Astral Ring system works, each one is based on a specific feature. More information on that in the sections for each Specialization.

✧ Astral Ring tags ✧

Unlike before, every S Rank Valkyrie can be a Support and Main DMG dealer.

A second row of tags was added for P2 Valkyries.

The big tag shows their main Specialization: This Specialization is active is the Valkyrie is the leader. The Valkyrie is protected by this Astral Ring specialization,

The small tags show Support tags: The Valkyrie can support these Specializations.

Each main tag has a corresponding Support tag.

Let's take a look at the newest Kiana for example.

Main Tag - Law of Ascension: This Valkyrie is protected by the Astral Ring Specialization: Law of Ascension. When she is the leader Law of Ascension is actived.

Support Tag 1 - Domain Resonance: This Valkyrie can support teams in which the leader is protected by World Star.

Support Tag 2 - Heavenly Shift: This Valkyrie can support teams in which the leader is protected by Law of Ascension.

Support Tag 3 - Symbiosis: This Valkyrie can support teams in which the leader is protected by Grail of Infinitude.

✦ Astral Ring Basics - In Battle ✦

✧ Astral Ring Charging State ✧

Once you enter the field with a P2 team, you'll enter Astral Ring Charging state.

In this state the Valkyries work similarly to Part 1 Valkyries, their gameplay often is influenced by their Specialization already though.

You'll notice that the ELF button was replaced with your Stellar Outburst.

Like with ELF Ultomates it needs a Special Charge to be used, which is called "Astral Ring Intensity".

✧ Stellar Outburst State ✧

Once your Intensity reaches it's max you can use your Stellar Outburst and enter the state for a certain amount of time.

This ATK deals 400% ATK of Adaptive DMG and the AstralOP will use a Synergy ATK.

Entering Stellar Outburst triggers most Support buffs P2 Supports can give you and additionally buffs your DMG.

Intensity cost, duration, cooldown and Specialization are decided by the active leader skill.

While in this state, a circle around the Stellar Outburst button will slowly go down. Once it disappears Stellar Outburst ends and you'll be set back into Astral Ring Charging state.

Some Valkyries can end the Stellar Outburst early as leader by using their Ultimates and restore Intensity back in exchange.

✦ Astral Ring Intensity ✦

Handling your Astral Ring Intensity is an essential part of playing Part 2 teams to gain as many Stellar Outbursts as you can.

There are multiple ways to obtain it, so let's look at all possibilities.

1 ✧ Regeneration over time

While in Astral Ring Charging state you regenerate 2 Astral Ring Intensity per second as long as you attack enemies.

You need to retrigger this effect every second to keep restoring Intensity.

2 ✧ Stellar Drains

Upon entering the battle or exiting Stellar Outburst every P2 Valkyrie obtains a Stellar Drain. They can consume it with a special ATK to restore Astral Ring Intensity, usually 10~20.

When they have a Support tag for the active Specialization the amount is usually increased by 10.

For example Vita consumes hers with her Combo ATK.

You want to consume every character's Stellar Drain after each Stellar Outburst to get the next one as quickly as possible.

3 ✧ Intensity Packs

Sometimes bosses drop these stars.

Pick them up to restore 15 Astral Ring Intensity.

4 ✧ Valkyrie Skills

Some Valkyries have special skills to restore additional Astral Ring Intensity.

These are just some examples, but you get the point

5 ✧ AstralOP Skills

Gacha AstralOPs have additional Skills to restore Astral Ring Intensity, usually these are between 30 and 40 each Stellar Outburst.

Chenxue SS Skill

TLDR: +30 Intensity for Grail of Infinitude, +36 Intensity for Rite of Oblivion

✦ AstralOPs ✦

I forgot the male version exists

✧ What are AstralOPs? ✧

In Part 2, AstralOPs replace ELFs. You can switch between ELFs and AstralOPs in the menu.

no more lil cuties:(

While ELFs can be used by P2 Valkyries, P1 Valkyries cannot use AstralOPs.

Unlike ELFs, which supported a specific Element each, each AstralOP supports 1-2 specific Astral Ring Specializations.

You can see their Astral Ring Specializations below their names.

Serapeum can support World Star and Theresa can support Lightning Rite of Oblivion.

There aren't shown on this screen, but they're only replacements anyway.

✧ ELFs in Part 2 ✧

Every ELF got a new Astral Ring skill set with Part 2.

They provide lower initial Intensity (40-45 instead of 50+) and do not have any Intensity regeneration skills.

To make it short, Kiana Kaslana is the only ELF that's still sometimes used in Part 2, if you're not getting any new AstralOP they might be worth leveling though.

✧ AstralOP Skills ✧

Generally, AstralOP skills often aren't usable outside of their specialization.

They usually follow the following pattern:

S Rank: Initial Intensity

SS Rank: Intensity Regeneration

SSS Rank: DMG buff

=> You always need SS to unlock all Intensity skills

Sometimes skills stack only with specific Astral Ring tags.

AstralOPs do ATK, for example they launch a Synergy ATK after you enter Stellar Outburst, but the DMG is extremely low and irrelevant overall.

Theresa's Synergy ATK

✧ Gacha Value ✧

Dreamseeker is the free AstralOP we got. Currently you can rank her to SS by doing P2 EX Chapter 4.

While she's not horrible, paid AstralOPs are just WAY better. The value of AstralOPs ends up depending on your situation of course.

I recommend to pull AstralOPs when:

✧ You want to go to Redlotus or Nirvana

✧ You have 2+ good teams of the Specialization or plan to pull them in future

✧ You can afford it without missing out on important Valkyries (such as new Coralie)

✧ You can afford SS Rank to get the Intensity buffs

In Nirvana AstralOPs are essential. Just trust me, I felt it.

If you want to retain Redlotus I still recommend pulling a few of them here and there, they last longer in meta than Valkyries. SS Rank is a good stopping point in that case.

But just like with Valkyries, I can't recommend backpulling old AstralOPs more than 1-3 patches later. They'll be replaced eventually.

✦ Astral Ring Specializations ✦

As mentioned before, we currently have five Astral Ring Specializations. Each one heavily impacts your gameplay once it's active.

Each one is based on a gameplay mechanic:

Once the leader is protected by a Specialization it will be active in battle.

So let's not yap too much and head right to the first one~

✦ Specialization: World Star ✦

✧ Stellar Outburst ✧

Intensity Cost: 150

There's nothing special about their Astral Ring Charging State, so let's jump right to the Stellar Outburst.

Once you enter Stellar Outburst each Valkyrie's KE bar is replaced with a Quantum Mech Energy bar. You can use a special Resonance ATK when repeatedly tapping [ATK] (Senadina/Helia: Weapon).

Let's look at Sparkle for this example~

If you repeatedly tap [ATK] now she uses her Resonance ATK instead of her Basic ATK,

Every Valkyrie protected by World Star puts up a Domain Resonance Mark at the end of this ATK if they are the leader.

Valkyries that aren't the leader can trigger these Domain Resonance Marks with their Resonance ATK to deal a lot of DMG.

Every Resonance disappears after a specific number of triggers or when Stellar Outburst ends.

Sparkle/Theresa: 18 triggers

Senadina: 8 triggers

A Rank Helia: 4 triggers

Deepspace Anchor: First Light and Valkyrie Boltstorm set up a Resonance Mark even if they are not the leader. Everyone else triggers Resonances with their Resonance ATKs.

✦ Specialization: Wheel of Destiny ✦

✧ Astral Ring Charging ✧

Slight changes are already noticable in Astral Ring Charging state here. Wheel of Destiny teams focus on the DMG of a single character who has the majority of the on field time.

First of all, Stellar Drains are shared within the entire team, meaning it doesn't matter who consumes them.

Here you can see Elysia consuming two of the team's Stellar Drains, even though she only has one by herself.

Then Wheel of Destiny characters' kits are usually designed in a way you won't be forced to switch out of them.

Thelema for example charges her special ATK with Basic ATKs and Weapons skills, which she can repeat until Stellar Outburst is ready.

This way you only need to activate Support buffs once after each Stellar Outburst and stay on the leader until the next Stellar Outburst is ready.

✧ Stellar Outburst ✧

Intensity Cost: 140-145

In Stellar Outburst you can't switch Valkyries anymore as soon as you switch to a Valkyrie protected by Wheel of Destiny.

Other Valkyries are replaced with Phantoms which can help the activa Valkyrie.

If you "switch" to them the active Valkyrie launches a Shadow Star ATK and enters Rondo in the Shadows.

In this state certain moves trigger more Shadow Star Attacks, causing the Phantom to deal adaptive DMG.

Also their kits might be changed slightly, for example Thelema gains additional KE stacks from her Basic ATK, Combo ATK and Weapon Skill in this state.

If a support in the team doesn't have the Harmonized Shadow Star tag, they are replaced with a Phantom of the leader in Stellar Outburst.

Just noticed skins arent displayed as Phantom lol

These replaced Phantoms grant Rondo in the Shadows for 5s. Normal Phantoms for 11s.

✦ Specialization: Law of Ascension ✦

Detailed Guide:

New Astral Ring Specialization: Law of Ascension explained | Astral Ring Guide | HI3rd [8.0 BETA]
189

✧ Astral Ring Charging ✧

Unlike Wheel of Destiny, this Specialization is based on quick swap teams and QTEs.

Every Valkyrie has a special ATK to reset switch CDs of other Valkyries and trigger their QTE. As leader this affects both Supports, as Support it only resets the leader's switch CD.

Every 15s the Valkyries can use a special QTE, which can be noticed by more flashy effects around the Valkyrie icon.

Kiana -> special QTE, Sushang -> normal QTE

If you use their QTE now they restore 15 Astral Ring Intensity and trigger the leader's Heavenly Link.

Heavenly Link deals Physical DMG or Elemental DMG depending on the leader's element.

Additionally Valkyries protected by Law of Ascension usually depend on their QTE to deal DMG.

Ba-Dum for example enters a special state after QTE allowing her to restore Charge way quicker.

This way your teams depend on quick swaps, many QTEs and optimising your rotations to trigger the Special QTEs as quickly as possible for more Stellar Outbursts.

✧ Stellar Outburst ✧

Intensity Cost: 200

Law of Ascension's Stellar Outburst is very different from other Stellar Outbursts. After using it the Valkyries instantly go back to Astral Ring Charging mode and Stellar Shifts can be used.

After using the Stellar Outburst you enter following screen:

Here you can decide whose Stellar Shift to use first.

Stellar Shifts are basically enhanced QTEs, dealing big DMG and triggering the leader's Heavenly Link.

Usually Stellar Shifts activate all buffs of the Valkyrie that's using the Stellar Shift.

After Stellar Shift the character enters Augment Ascension state. In this state you gain buffs that are usually limited to Stellar Outburst.

Additionally the leader sometimes might be able to use more/different ATKs than usually, allowing a different Combo than usually.

Sushang would usually only do one Special Weapon Skill before using her Combo ATK connecting into another Weapon Skill. After Stellar Shift the Combo ATK is replaced with a special Weapon Skill.

After using Stellar Outburst every Valkyrie gains one Stellar Shift which is automatically used the next time they're switched in. You can see whether a Valkyrie has a Stellar Shift left via the purple circle around their icon.

Kiana: Stellar Shift, Sushang: Special QTE

✦ Specialization: Grail of Infinitude ✦

Detailed Guide:

New Specialization: Grail of Infinitude explained | Astral Ring Guide | HI3rd [8.3 BETA]
293

✧ Astral Ring Charging ✧

The gameplay of Grail of Infinitude characters is very SP and Ultimate dependent.

After a character that's not the leader enters via QTE they can use their Ultimate at 0 SP cost.

Supports using their Ultimate resets the leader's switch CD and trigger her QTE.

Other than that I cannot say much at the moment because we only have one Grail of Infinitude character so far.

Helia's gameplay is basically spamming Ultimates, but I can't say anything about general concept atm.

✧ Stellar Outburst ✧

Intensity Cost: 175

During Stellar Outburst the entire team shares their SP and get additional max SP, so you'll notice a huge SP bar.

The team starts at a fixed amount of SP (50% of max SP for Helia).

Characters that are not the leader restore a big amount of additional SP upon hitting their first Special ATK and Ultimate after entering by QTE.

For example BaDum restores 165 SP for her first Special Weapon Active hit and 128 SP for her first Ultimate hit.

Spending SP in Stellar Outburst restores Shining Trace. The current Shining Trace is shown around the SP Bar in white.

When hitting max Shining Trace (dependent on your leader) Facet of infinitude is triggered.

Facet of Infinitude provides additional DMG buffs to the characters.

✦ Specialization: Rite of Oblivion ✦

✧ Astral Ring tags ✧

Rite of Oblivion characters don't have any special gameplay, but they are more general supports than others.

They can activate leader skills, that usually need a specific Astral Ring tag, even if they don't have it themselves.

-> 3/3 buffs are active, usually only 1/3 would be.

Also as leader they don't need any specific tags to activate their buffs, but any P2 Valkyries.

However, usually they want other Rite of Oblivion characters as support.

✧ Stellar Outburst ✧

Intensity Cost: 150

Generally there's not much to say about them as their Stellar Outburst has no special effect.

However, it might be worth mentioning that both S Rank Valkyries stay on field during their entire Stellar Outburst and do a Special ATK once entering the Stellar Outburst.

✦ Team Building ✦

✧ General Information ✧

Every P2 Valkyrie's leader skill stacks with the amount of Valkyries with the correct Support tag. Maxing these out is essential to not lose a huge amount of DMG.

Two additional buttons were added to the Team selection screen.

The "Team Selection" allows you to see how many stacks of the leader buff are active. You ALWAYS want to have it at 3/3.

When clicking on it you can see details on the leader skill and AstralOP on what skills are active and what skills aren't.

When activating "Pin Character" all characters that have the correct Support tag for your current team leader are pinned on top of the selection.

You can see whether a Valkyrie supports your current Astral Ring by how their Astral Ring tag looks like. If it's glowing it can support your current Valkyrie.

✧ How to select your team? ✧

Step 1: Put the Valkyrie you want to build a team for as leader.

Step 2: Check what Astral Ring Specialization this Valkyrie has.

Thelema -> Wheel of Destiny

Step 3: Click on the filter on the bottom left and check on the box of the Astral Ring Attribute right below this Astral Ring Specialization.

Step 4: Confirm. Now the game shows you all the Valkyries that can support your Valkyrie.

Don't have two supports? Additionally click on the box "Omniscient Star". These Valkyries can be used as alternative if you don't have any Valkyries with the correct tag.

Step 5: Choose two supports to complete your team.

And you're done!

✧ Support Selection ✧

I'll keep this short cause this Guide isn't mainly meant for people with a lot of P2 chars.

If you have more than two Supports of the correct type you might be wondering which one to choose.

Generally speaking: Test it out. Differences usually aren't big.

For World Star the best team currently is:

Lone Planetfarer - Vita + Ba-Dum! Fiery Wishing Star or Herrscher of Finality

I can't include every support selection at the moment. I try to do support comparisons rather regularly, so you can check them out:)

Who's the best Grail of Infinitude support? | Support Comparison | HI3rd [8.3 BETA]
166
Who's the best Law of Ascension support? | Support Comparison | HI3rd [8.2 BETA]
122

If you have many Valkyries you can check the server's top Rankings for the best team.

Example: You want to know what to use to fight SSS Sampo?

Click on Start > Rankings > the scores of the highest ranking people.

Now you can see the best team against SSS Sampo at the moment.

Please note Vita's support increases with her ranks. If she's top score outside of World Star, but you don't have ranks be sceptical and try to look for the first S0 team.

✦ What To Pull? ✦

If you're a new player or a returner you might be overwhelmed by the huge amount of Valkyries.

Currently there are 11 Part 2 S ranks and 2 P1 S Ranks with divine keys.

First of all: Don't pull old characters if you want to build a good account. Honkai Impact has a fast powercreep, so old characters are likely to be outdated.

You want your first three Valkyries to make 2-3 teams and have Astral Ring tags of the newest Specializations -> Your Valkyries should support each other. It's best to inform yourself about the newest 1-2 Vakyries and the next Valkyrie coming up and see how many teams they could make.

If you have Herrscher of Finality or Herrscher of Human getting their divine keys might be worth it. It#s cheap and grants additional ATK.

✧ General Hints ✧

If you are unsure you can join the official Discord and ask in beginners-help. I'm sure you'll find someone willing to help you.

Main menu > Ai Phone > Swipe once > Click on Discord

If you want to know about future supplies to plan your pulls I can recomment Arustats

✧ For 8.4 ✧

In case you are reading this in the current patch, here's my idea on the best stuff to pull:

First pull: Behold! Fate Defying Dragon - Coralie

Why? She's the newest Valkyrie and a great support for the two newest Specializations. As Main DPS she can use the free Coralie as support without taking a huge hit to her DMG unlike many other new Valkyries.

Second pull: Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime - Helia

Why? She's a very new Valkyrie (8.3) and she's in Coralie's best team thanks to her special skill. Additionally Coralie is in her best team as well. With her you have your first good Part 2 team with S Coralie - S Helia - A Coralie and you can even use a pretty copium Helia team by making her the leader instead.

Helia can also support the two newest Specializations making her usable for most Valkyries releasing in the near future.

Third pull: Future Grail of infinitude / Law of Ascension Valkyrie

The Elysia in this image is suspected to be the 8.5 Valkyrie due to the 8.4 event. This is not officially confirmed yet, so we don't know for sure but there was no build up for other Valkyries.

Why? Those are the two newest Specializations and you'd have a full team for both. Grail of Infinitude is likely to get a new Battlesuit soon because it only have one Valkyrie at the moment. Ideally this Valkyrie has a locked Support tag too so you can start preparing for future Specializations.

I am expecting Elysia to be Grail of Infinitude due to that, guessing her to be Ice Type since we didn't have a new Ice Valkyrie in 10 patches and her last battlesuit was Ice too. If my guesses are correct she'd be the ideal third Valkyrie

Once you get a Grail of Infinitude Valkyrie (or Law of Ascension Valkyrie with Grail of Infinitude support) you have three full teams:

Team 1: Fire/PSY Ignite DPS (RoO)

Behold! Fate-Defying Dragon / Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime / Valkyrie Blastmetal

Team 2: Lightning/BIO Paralyze DPS (GoI)

Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime / Behold! Fate-Defying Dragon / New Elysia

Team 3: Ice DPS (GoI/LoA)

New Elysia / Behold! Fate-Defying Dragon / Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime

Note:

Every information about the Elysia is pure speculation from my side based on the information that's currently public. Please wait for the official CN Beta v2 (start of September) to get safe information about 8.5 contents.

While this system was hated a lot when it first came out, I think it was a great addition to the game to make the gameplay more fun

Every Valkyrie being DPS and Support allows way more new teams and gameplays while giving every new Valkyrie some pull value in one way or another.

Of course you're allowed to have ur own opinion, feel free to comment it

Thank you for reading my guide, I hope I was able to help you!

Have a great day and fun with your Part 2 Valkyries~
