So remember about half a year ago when I talked about a AAA FPS game that MiHoYo was looking into?
It's here! And it looks like it'll be totally separate from the other games similar to Tears of Themis. As an FPS I'm not really sure what'll be gacha'd. I hope MiHoYo will make sure to stay away from the stink of Star Wars Battlefront and Destiny 2. I mean even Fortnite and PUBG got it bad for the lootbox system. So let's see MiHoYo show them how it's done.
Also if the news back then is still accurate Zenless will be the first game MiHoYo develops in its international branch in Canada. Our baby boy is growing up fast! And with a change in development center comes what looks like a whole different world but based on the past. I mean if the big CRT and the VCR weren't a dead giveaway. Some kids these days probably don't even know what those abbreviations mean lol. Anyway it also looks like it'll probably be taking place on our side of the world too given the English on the calendar and the style of the news report. But the character whose room we're seeing this preview from is likely an overseas Chinese person. There's a game on the shelf with a totally Chinese title and the movie poster in the background says Family in English but with a totally Chinese subtitle. Also based on the type of calendar they're using I think it's safe to say they aren't a first generation immigrant either. If you have any Chinese friends you know what I mean. This is the calendar they tend to use:
Yes most of them are red and have zodiac animals somewhere on it. This is because most of these calendars come out for New Year's. So notice how the calendar we see is plain and white. Like this one.
On top of that as far as I know Chinese people don't cross off days on their calendars. Japan only does it if they live in an anime. So this character should be pretty integrated into the local culture. I think that'll also be a first. Maybe they've got some Chinese Canadians to lend some authenticity to the character similar to Turning Red which portrayed your average Chinese Canadian girl as the movie's protagonist.
Are you guys looking forward to Zenless Zone Zero?
