I've got a hankerin' for lore!

So the new event's out and as expected there's tons of lore and fun stuff to get out of just an NPC talking about cooking.

First off the names. So again we have Arabic names for the NPCs of Sumeru showing that it is definitely a Persia reference not an India/Egypt + Middle East reference. Back in the day Achaemenid Persia included parts of India and also Egypt.

Nazafarin sounds like a sweet name. In fact it should because it means to produce delight. Her friend also has a nice name Parvaneh which means butterfly.

And who is Parvaneh? She was one of the three stooges- I mean gourmets that we ran around all over Inazuma with back during the early days of its release. So really this current event is about her.

But enough of about that. Who are the Eremite?

You might think this is one of the Darshans but no. Eremite is an Arabic word meaning hermit.

The way it's being described here makes me think of a mafia organization in Sumeru or mercenaries. And that's actually pretty interesting. All across Persian history the ruling party employed Greek mercenaries. Recently I talked about how the unified human civilization could have survived up to the age of the Archon War. Those survivors would have been left without a stable home and some of them might have stayed separate from the newly forming 7 nations. Aka hermits. The unified civilization wrote in Greek and Latin. So these Eremite could be Genshin's version of the Greek mercs of Persia.

Now isn't that just the spice of life haha.
