I'm not sure what's going on. The last time it showed up a great many players (who hopefully are still playing this game after what we went through) were locked out of the game. It turned out the Google Playstore version of the game's apk was corrupted or something was wrong with it. That's what this error code means.
So after a week of not being able to play Genshin (and of course e-mailing people who don't respond back) I found out some people had a workaround but it was really sus. Back then at least. There's a dedicated gaming app store called TapTap which I've been using to update Genshin ever since this ugly issue came up.
And it was going so well. Until this patch. When v2.8 was set to update TapTap for some reason didn't have the new apk. So around the end of maintenance I decided I'd just go and give Google another shot. And it decided to give me a few days with this new awesome event until today. Then it pulled this stunt again. On Mona's quest day of all days! 
-ahem- I have no idea what's wrong with its apk but I hope MiHoYo figures something out. TapTap was supposed to be the long-term fix but it didn't get the v2.8 apk out until a day and a half later. Imagine being a day and a half late to start on the new patch. Lose BP and resin. As a Content Creator it's even worse but thankfully I'm not one of those guide creators or streamers. Imagine those guys getting this issue how much that would effect their revenue to miss out on the opening hours of a new patch.
Anyway the fix this time was just to uninstall Genshin and reinstall using the TapTap apk since it's finally out. But now I'm worried about v2.9 and onward. If TapTap's late on updating again this episode stands to repeat. It would be great if MiHoYo just hosted the apk themselves off their website. I'm not sure how much that would cost or if it would even cost anything. Wouldn't they make bank not having to pay these app stores their listing fees? Especially Google's since it's busted for so many devices anyway.
Also the conspiracy theorist in me is thinking about how the last time this happened it was v1.1 aka Unreconciled Stars aka Mona and Fischl. Now it's happened again in v2.8 aka Mona and Fischl..... Google she's a Standard Banner Character. Just like I told Arnold yesterday you'll get her soon enough. Even as a f2p. And Fischl is a free character right now through this event! Why you gotta mess up my Mona day? Simps.....
