Which Beginner Characters to Invest?
As a beginner, tipping resources into one unit or the other can be very costly, especially in lower AR. Deciding on who to invest at the endgame early on can save you a lot of materials on along the way. These are some of the beginner units that will benefit you in the long run: (*List is based on which characters are most readily available for beginner account.)
4-Stars:
Xiangling
□ off-field build: constant pyro ✔️ starter staple
□ constellations: easy to come, generous droprate ✔️ doesn't need to buy from shop.
□ need steady healer / shielder in team 🔍
Kaeya
□ great for melt ✔️
□ off-field build: energy / battery ✔️
□ constellations: extremely rare 🚫 can only buy via paimon shop, 3 years fastest to C6.
*Note: There are many other options for weapon, but Favonius Sword has one of the highest drop rates, thus making it easily available.
Others:
When the opportunity allows, these are the must-have 4☆ you want to invest on:
Bennett
□ must-have C5 ✔️
□ careful not to C6 🚫 permanent notification display.
Xingqiu
□ limited heal 🚫
□ need +180% energy
Diona
□ healer + EM + shield ✔️
Sucrose
□ good to trigger off-field elements from other characters simultaneously, via fast Normal Attacks ✔️
↳ example: (Xingqiu's Burst, Yelan's Burst, Raiden's Skill).
More:
Barbara
□ C6 allows revival ✔️ + easily obtainable
□ 🚫 skill can cause you to get frozen
□ 🚫 burst doesn't give damage
□ perfect slot for: R5 Thrilling Tales + 4 Mililith quick swap ✔️
note: some might argue that ultimately in endgame, support barbara is just not good enough, compared to the presence of someone like kokomi. that's when option to build vaporite dps barbara comes.
*Note: Overall, most units can make use of 4 Emblem. When possible, 1 unit in team can use 4 Noblesse, the other 1 unit wiht 4 Mililith.
5-Stars:
Since you're bound to lose 50/50 overtime, having investment + constellations in these supportive units is always a win:
Mona
□ burst = atk boost for team ✔️
□ perfect slot for: R5 Thrilling Tales + 4 Mililith quick swap ✔️
Jean
□ battery + healer ✔️
(Stingy Guide) with everchanging abyss, what you want is more 5* constellations, not more variety, because your team slot can only fit in so much units.
Concentrated Investment > Better than More Units
(long-term run)
Why? Because: (for F2P & low-spenders) You do more pulls because you feel inadequate in Spiral Abyss > but abyss only limits you to 8 units.
Even if you collect and build 50 units, majority 40 of them will be benched for most of the time.
Meanwhile, if you start saving for 5☆ constellations instead, the units that barely made into your fully fitted team will be able to perform even better than they already have.
Example for multi-useful utility constellations to go for (especially units that everyone wants / already own):
The more you build up on concentrated units, the better / easier your abyss performance will be. Don't spread out, just focus inward.
Losing a lot of 50/50?
In end game, you will get a lot of standard 5*. way to combat this is by using/investing in these units instead, particularly support 5*, such as mona and jean, which will help you mix and match with any unit you will own in the future.
