Since 5 star artifacts can be used as fodder to level your good artifacts, you essentially lost 2 5 stars worth of fodder, or 7560 artifacts EXP. That feels bad."
"What actually happens: Rolling a Noblesse piece costs 40 resin. A Noblesse domain run costs 20, but as you will get a Bloodstained Chivalry set 50% of the time, the actual cost for a Noblesse piece is on average 40 resin. 40 resin is a lot - It’s almost 1/4 of your daily resin, or 120,000 mora."
"The cost of NOT using the strongbox: Using 3 5 star artifacts as EXP fodder for levelling your artifacts, yields about the same EXP as an «Sanctifying Essence» (the big bottle with artifacts EXP you can buy in the Realm Depot). That is EXP enough to level a 5 star artifact from 0 til about level 3."

Resin: 1,000 (5.5 days generated worth)
5-star Artifact = 50 pieces (minimum)
Total exp: 12,690 x 50 runs = 634,500 exp
*12,690 exp is the standard minimum per run
Exp without 5-stars: 8,820 x 50 runs = 441,000 exp
regular Domain run → 20 resin gives:
1 x 5* = 3,870
2 x 4* = 5,040
3 x 3* = 3,780
Total = 12,690 exp
Ideal situation:
Strongbox odds = 50 → 4
basis: per 39 → 3 good ones (if lucky)
(193,500 exp gone)
after roll, probably only 1 usable
vs
Domain farming only
Between none to → hard to say 🤷♀️
Worst-case scenario:
if Strongbox all leads to duds
Just - (minus) 193,500 exp
*not included costs when you level up the artifacts
With daily fodder run, you can recover lost amount in 2.5 days (out of 5.5 days) → Worth it!
Or, 15.2 x 20 resin = 304 original resin (1.6 days worth gone)

Bloodstain/Noblesse over Gladiator/Wanderer
It might be better to only use Strongbox to get Bloodstain and Noblesse in the long term, because you can still get Gladiator and Wanderer plenty of time from multiple resources over time (weekly boss, normal boss, spiral abyss). Even I have accumulated almost 80 usable Gladiator and 80 usable Wanderer overtime in 400 days.
