SUMMARY
Layla is a 4-Star Sword Support character who not only applies Cryo from off-field, but also provides a strong shield to the party

TALENT & ASCENSION MATERIALS
Layla leveled to 80/80 in my infographic. You can choose to level her further for more HP % (from Ascending) and Base HP

ARTIFACTS

Artifact Sets
- Layla is fairly simple to build as she is generally a Shield Support character
- Can opt for 4pc Tenacity of the Millileth (ideal!) or 4pc Noblesse Oblige for some team-wide buffs. The former set can also provide HP % and stronger Shield Strength!
- 2pc HP% sets (Tenacity & Vourukasha's Glow) are also viable so you can build a thicker shield
- If you choose to increase her personal damage rather than focus on only her shield, 4pc Blizzard Strayer or alternatively 2pc HP % set + either 2pc Blizzard Strayer or 2pc Emblem of Severed Fate if you are struggling with ER works.
Main Stat & Substats
- Triple HP% preferred for more DMG Absorption. ER Sands is viable if you don't have enough / aren't using an ER weapon
- Cryo DMG Goblet and CRIT Circlet can be used if you want to increase her personal DMG
- Generally only looking for ER and HP. CRIT Rate conditional on running Favonius Sword

WEAPON OPTIONS
- An HP% Sword would be great for Layla, but the only two currently available are locked behind the Weapon Banner. If you happen to have this already, it would be a great option for Layla!
- Favonius Sword - Preferred as it provides the team with a bit more Energy
- Other ER weapon options like Skyward Blade, Festering Desire, Fleuve Cendre Ferryman (Pipe), Amenoma Kageuchi, Skyrider Sword, and Sacrificial Sword can also work if you do not have a spare Favonius Sword for her and want to Burst consistently
- Harbinger of Dawn - Decent option if you want to increase Layla's personal DMG, but not as useful as the other weapon options listed above

TEAM COMPS

- Freeze - Layla can be used as a Diona replacement
- Cryo DPS: Ayaka, Ganyu, Rosaria, Kaeya, Wriothesley, Shatter Freminet
- Hydro Applicator: Mona, Kokomi, Ayato, Barbara, Furina (ideally with Anemo healer)
- Anemo: Sucrose, Kazuha, Venti, Lynette
- Can alternatively use an on-field Hydro DPS like Neuvillette rather than on-field Cryo.
- Mono Cryo - Typically run with Shenhe / Cryo DPS / Anemo
- Physical/Superconduct teams - Layla can provide Cryo application and Energy to characters like Eula
- Physical Options: Eula, Freminet, Razor, Fischl, Rosaria
- Off-Field Electro: Fischl, Raiden Shogun, Yae Miko, Beidou, Lisa
- Flex or another Cryo as Support: Rosaria, Kaeya
- Vape/Melt with Arlecchino, Hu Tao, Gaming, or Yoimiya (Layla's Cryo application can occasionally cause Melts)
- Can generally be slotted into any team if her Cryo application and/or Shield are valuable, such as for Wanderer

Notes:
- Weapon options in my budget guides exclude weapons that are only obtainable from the weapon banner.
- This makes the Budget Guide friendlier to newer players, F2Ps, and low spenders.
- Materials for ascending the character to level 80/80 & talent levels 1 / 8 / 8
- In terms of purple XP books alone, you'd be saving 172 XP books (419 to 90/90 compared to 247 to 80/80). That's enough XP books to level up a different character to level 70! This aspect of the Budget Guides is friendly to players who may have less resources.
- It also potentially frees up resin that may be spent on leylines to farm artifacts instead
These are the concepts behind the Budget Guides and I hope it can help some of you!
