BUDGET THOMA GUIDE

SUMMARY
Thoma is a 4-Star Polearm Support character who can act as a shielder in general teams or be utilized in Burgeon teams!

TALENT & ASCENSION MATERIALS
If mainly using Thoma in Burgeon team comps, it is important to focus on increasing his character level to 90 over leveling his talents. The below infographic assumes a Shield Support Thoma rather than Burgeon Thoma

TALENT EXPLANATIONS

CONSTELLATIONS

ARTIFACTS

Artifact Sets
- General Support Sets:
- 4pc Noblesse Oblige for team buff
- 2pc Emblem and 2pc HP Sets (Tenacity of the Millelith or Vourukasha's Glow) for thicker shield and some more ER
- Burgeon Sets:
- 4pc Flower of Paradise Lost or 4pc Gilded Dreams (the latter of which is more resin-efficient to farm)
- If you don't have or are currently farming, you can opt for two 2pc EM Sets instead !
Main Stat & Substats
- Primarily want to use ER Sands on Thoma unless you have his C4 and are using an ER weapon to help lower his ER requirements
- HP % Main Stats for thicker shield, CRIT Rate Circlet and/or Substats recommended if you're using Favonius Lance
- ER and HP substats are the main things you're looking for
- Burgeon Thoma:
- Similar note about ER Sands as earlier. If you do have C4 unlocked, you can go with EM or HP Sands instead!
- If there's no healer on your team, HP % Main Stats are preferred so his Shield will be a bit thicker
- You can go with Triple EM artifacts if you do have a dedicated healer on the team!
- ER substat is still really important, but EM substat is added as well.

WEAPON OPTIONS
- Favonius Lance - Recommended as it provides ER substat and helps generate energy for the team with its Passive.
- If you don't have one for him and are struggling with ER, some other ER weapon options are: Prototype Starglitter, Skyward Spine, The Catch, and Kitain Cross Spear
- Weapons that provide HP % Substat - Can be an option if you have enough ER through Artifacts only
- Black Tassel (3-Star Weapon) and Dialogues of the Desert Sages (Limited-time Event Weapon) - Passives don't really benefit Thoma at all, but both weapons provide at least 40% HP
- Rightful Reward - Craftable Fontaine Weapon with a Passive that can restore some Energy to Thoma after he is healed, but provides 27.6% HP
- Kitain Cross Spear - Craftable Inazuma Weapon with 110 EM Substat and ER Passive. Great option in Burgeon teams!
- Dragon's Bane is another option in Burgeon teams as it provides 221 EM

TEAM COMPS

- Can work in any team that wants a shield and whose teammates use some NAs (and don't mind his Pyro application) such as Wriothesley, Clorinde, Wanderer/Xiao, etc.
- With the release of Chevreuse, Thoma is also a decent option in Chevreuse Overloaded teams!
- Pyro Support
- Pyro DPS - Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Diluc, Arlecchino
- Hydro - Xingqiu, Yelan.
- Not listing Furina because a Double Hydro w/ Pyro DPS is a strong team, but with Thoma as the shielder, there is not really a healer slot available to maximize Furina's buffs unless you use Barbara instead of XQ/Yelan.
- Anemo VV holder - Sucrose, Kazuha - Yun Jin works when paired with Yoimiya!
- Burgeon
- Dendro - Nahida, Dendro Traveler, Yaoyao, Collei, Baizhu, Kirara
- Hydro - Kokomi, Ayato, Tartaglia, Xingqiu, Yelan, Barbara, Furina (if there is a healer)
- Flex - A second Dendro or Hydro Character or an Anemo VV Holder (Kazuha, Sucrose, Heizou, Jean)

Notes:
- Weapon options in my budget guides exclude weapons that are only obtainable from the limited (weapon) banner.
- With the addition of Chronicled Wish, this means some Weapon Banner exclusive weapons were added to Chronicle Wishd as well, but these weapons are still considered "limited" for the purposes of these guides
- The rationale behind this is that the Chronicled Wish banner has the same duration as a normal banner and uses precious Intertwined Fates.
- This makes the Budget Guide friendlier to newer players, F2Ps, and low spenders.
- Materials for ascending the character to level 80/80 & talent levels 1 / 8 / 8 (see note in Talents & Ascensions section)
- In terms of purple XP books alone, you'd be saving 172 XP books (419 to 90/90 compared to 247 to 80/80). That's enough XP books to level up a different character to level 70! This aspect of the Budget Guides is friendly to players who may have less resources.
- It also potentially frees up resin that may be spent on leylines to farm artifacts instead
These are the concepts behind the Budget Guides and I hope it can help some of you!
